I don't get why these people are always SO BAD at the tiebreaker question. Don't they know how many minutes, even approximately, the Veto comp lasted? It's just 60 times whatever that number is. Both Brittany and Taylor were WAY OFF. I think the answer was one thousand and something? Meaning the comp lasted between 16 and 20 minutes? I would have guessed much longer but I didn't play it live like they did, and Taylor guessed 400 something and Brittany 2700. Can't either of them do simple math?

I think part of it is that they are hyper focused during the comp and the only clock they have is the oven in the kitchen. Plus you have to figure that there are downtimes before and after the comp when Production talks to them and explains the rules or has them wait to do voice over lines or whatnot (watching a live HoH on the feeds is interesting - the feed goes down every now and then for Production to feed the HoH those cheesy lines to repeat while the comp is happening, I imagine they do the same during the Vetos) so that messes with your sense of time even further. I know the question frames it as "from the start of the comp to the moment it was won" but how do you actually know without being able to see a clock and estimate the downtime and remove that from the equation?

Or yeah, they could just suck at math. I do. I just use a calculator for everything - I wouldn't have enough fingers and toes to count that one out. I'd be screwed in the house when it came to stuff like that.

I've lost so much respect for Taylor. Not that I begrudge her a little showmance, but with Monte? He's the one who started the whole bully ball rolling towards her at the beginning of the season when he ran to Paloma and told her what Taylor said to him. He's been mostly awful to her and he's a smug asshole. I don't know if she understands what he did to this day, I hope when she gets home someone fills her in.

And yeah I'm glad she won HoH but she will probably do whatever Monte tells her to do, which means putting up Turner and Brittany. I just hope Brittany wins Veto and Monte goes up because that last thing I want to see is a Turner/Monte F2.

I was actually hoping Brittany would win HoH - not because I like her but because the other three's heads would explode, and I would enjoy watching them all squirm.

I don’t think Taylor has heard what Monte said about her earlier in the season. I’m also thinking/hoping she’s just horny

If I have a dry erase board and a magic marker I could do the quick multiplication equation. Neither Taylor nor Brittany were anywhere close to the right number. I get that they might have been discombobulated during that comp because they were woken up in the middle of the night, but still. They both played it, they both should have had a vague idea of how many minutes that lasted - especially Brittany. And it looked like she was doing some math on the back of the board but in the brief glimpse we got of it, it didn't look like XX x 60.

This isn't an isolated incident either; tie breakers frequently mean figuring out the length of a comp in seconds and the answers always vary wildly. I often wonder if some of these houseguests don't even know there are sixty seconds in a minute. (I bet Alyssa doesn't.)

I was gonna say after the show wraps she has to head out to teach a sociology class.

Hey, Julie can school me any time she wants. 😈

Honestly, I did feel bad for [Brittany] in that moment.  It was kind of mean that they excluded one person.

Question, though: did Alyssa/Monte/Taylor/Turner specifically exclude Brittany, or did Brittany exclude herself?  *I* don’t remember hearing anybody say anything to the effect of “Don’t say anything to Brittany.” The closest of any relevant mention I can recall is Britney constantly whining about the rest of the house not bedding down in accordance with her personal sleep schedule.

My most shocking reveal of the night was that Monte sleeps with his glasses on??? WTF

Monte: “Damned if I’m missing ANOTHER surprise comp.”  😂

Spoiler

Since about Week 2, Taylor has made no bones about really missing some good boning.  I’m just hoping she’s got it out of her system enough to focus on the FHOH comps.

The conversation was something to the effect of

Taylor: Sleepover in the HOH room?

Monte: Four people, one bed?

Taylor: Yes.

With the understanding of who that foursome is.

But was Brittany already down for the night when that conversation occurred, though?  Production doesn’t always (rarely?) splice the back-and-forth video cuts of the broadcast in realtime order, so we can’t assume from that - and one of the Brittany complaints aired was specifically about how the other HGs would keep going for 8+ hours after she felt she needed to get to sleep, which would strongly suggest Brittany had already been down for the count well before the other HGs began discussing their sleeping arrangements for the night.

My point being the exclusion may have been recognition of the House reality at the time, rather than social ostracization - although the broadcast may have been edited to give that impression.

Heck, they may have been doing Brittany a favor, i.e. "She's been really tired and is trying to get some sleep, so we'll stay out of her room."
