paulvdb March 3, 2022 Share March 3, 2022 Quote Hope and Lizzie find themselves at a carnival with an unusual cast of characters. Back at the Salvatore School, students are speaking their minds, without knowing why, which makes Jed reveal a secret and Cleo works on protecting one of their own. Meanwhile, Kaleb and MG set out on a mission, which does not go as planned. Airdate: March 3, 2022 Link to comment

paulvdb March 5, 2022 Author Share March 5, 2022 I'm wondering if anybody still wants to apply for the job of headmaster after this. First Vardemus got himself kidnapped and impersonated and now Aurora kills and impersonates the new headmaster. Maybe next time a new headmaster shows up at school someone should make sure that they really are the new headmaster and not an impersonator. 2 Link to comment
Chris24601 March 5, 2022 Share March 5, 2022 I have to give the show props for sticking with its strengths; Hope + Lizzie’s frenemies and MG + Kaleb’s found family deals. Lizzie being Hope’s morality pet is keeping Hope’s humanity switch arc from being as grating as it could be (this is definitely one of the longer “humanity switch off” arcs we’ve gotten in the TVD-verse with no obvious signs of how it’s going to be flipped back on in the immediate future as every obvious reversion trigger save Landon turning up alive or de-vamping has pretty much been played out). The headmaster thing is almost a deliberate joke at this point, but the ironic thing is that it’s actually NOT the basic premise of a supernatural school for multiple types of supernaturals that’s the problem… it’s the past sins of its founders/primary benefactor that have mostly made it a massive danger magnet (and despite being a magnet it’s notable that other than Landon; literally the whipping boy for Nature’s need for loopholes; none of the students have actually been killed by all the monsters turning up). 1 Link to comment
Terrafamilia March 5, 2022 Share March 5, 2022 You know you are in a CW teen drama when someone like Ben can be passed off as a high-school student. 4 Link to comment
Chris24601 March 6, 2022 Share March 6, 2022 To be fair, I don't think they're necessarily trying to claim he's a high school student... once you're in the school it doesn't look like there's any sort of set graduation date... I mean I'm pretty sure based on the established time passage that Hope was already 19 (or maybe even twenty) last season. Link to comment

Its truly become this universes equivalent to being the Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts or being the drummer in Spinal Tap. Its never going to end well for you. This episode was alright, the show always gets good mileage out of the Lizzie/Hope frienemy thing, but I find the show really hard to follow lately. There is somehow not enough going on and yet so much going that, I cant even really tell you what the main plot is right now exactly. This episode had a lot of moments I liked, but they were moments, not an actual story. 2 Link to comment

This episode had a lot of moments I liked, but they were moments, not an actual story. This. Every time I finish an episode I feel like nothing really happened. And yet, every time I start a new episode, despite the previouslies, I feel like a missed an episode. I had to literally re-watch the episode when Ben showed up because I had no recollection of him at all or what the deal was causing Kaleb to leave... or and Ethan existed too and he was gone (something I forgot again at the start of this ep). This episode was fine, mostly because my two favorite pairings were featured, MG/Kaleb and Lizzie/Hope. I also like Jed and his burgeoning feelings for Ben. But that is solely to the credit of Ben Levin since I cannot say more and Ben (the character) than he's very pretty. Finch also seems more appealing as a friend to Jed than perpetually angst ridden and left behind girlfriend of Josie. So Levin must have significant powers that have been woefully under used up to now. Edited March 12, 2022 by RachelKM 2 Link to comment
