High Point, Lipscome, SIUE, Omaha, and Drake headline the first handful of teams dancing this month.  We'll see one-big conference winners clinching spots throughout the week prior to the weekend when the big conferences leave no doubt prior to their victories in their respective conference tourneys.

Edited as I apparently listed Drake twice LOL.  Omaha who was awarded a bid due to a silly, questionable rule, still won their tournament final & left no doubt in terms of their bid

Villanova has fired Kyle Neptune after three disappointing seasons with no NCAA tournament berths

Neptune is a former assistant coach for Jay Wright

A stunning part from the article above is,Wrights  former assistants have a combined 73 seasons as head coaches and one game total in the NCAA tournament.

I think either team can get there.  Joe Lunardi still has Auburn as the overall top seed.  Duke did actually defeat Auburn, but that was a road game for the latter.  Auburn did lose its semi final game while Duke won theirs.  Of course they're the best team in the ACC, as champions of the regular season and the tournament.

If Duke gets to the top seed, that's fair enough.  They would deserve it, being number one and winning out without the best player.  However, the ACC is garbage compared to the SEC, which is the opposite.  On a large scale, the Duke really hasn't played anyone until their championship game against Louisville.  Meanwhile, Auburn has faced tough competition more often than not.  The SEC is slated to send nearly 4X as many teams to the NCAA Tournament compared to the ACC

But.  Not even Selection Sunday?

There are exceptions, including this one (and, despite not being a Dallas fan, the Super Bowl segment where they paid tribute to Jimmy).

Had to tune into that since everybody knew they were paying tribute.  That was tough to watch, very emotional, and well done by everyone involved.

SEC got 14 of their 16 teams in the tournament. I guess we'll see if the committee got that right.

Was sorta rooting for the entire conference to make it.  I think the Big XII nearly did that a few years ago, or were forecast to send everybody.  The committee probably will not get this one right at the start, until the chance of the last 2-3 SEC teams to get to San Antonio develops heading into the Regional.

In response to mojoween as it relates to the tribute, I feel bad that I didn't elaborate on my studio show viewing.  I was pretty much saying that I don't tune into the shows anymore (like I once did), and that was due to the exits of the people that I used to follow for decades.  It wasn't yours truly being dismissive, but really the sadness that the people I grew up with are no longer doing the shows.

I meant no disrespect, but that's just where I stand in terms of pregame, halftime, and postgame shows.  To be fair, I think Zucker has done a very good job, and there's still Ernie & company.

As for the tourney, it's Auburn over Duke for the top seed.  Not a surprise, but I am a little annoyed that the SEC broke the Big East record from 14 years ago in terms of the teams it sent to the NCAA Tournament

100%.  I typically tune in to the second game of the Tuesday/Wednesday double headers (the last four in aka 11 seeds).  While getting ready for UNC and SDSU (along with Purdue, the runners-up in the last several Tournament Finals) the ending was tremendous.

I don't know that much about those schools, but it's basketball.  Apparently it was a great game, and that ending was awesome!

Can't wait for that Illinois/Kentucky matchup on Sunday!

All joking aside (though the above may still happen) the "SEC if overrated" nonsense has probably begun.  Still 13 of 16 SEC teams in the tournament proper, Texas wasn't winning the whole thing anyway, and Xavier is actually a great team.

Unlike North Carolina/SDSU, that was a great game featuring the 11 seeds.  Probably could've been WVU vs UNC but winning has been more positive than negative

We'll see how Florida performs in the Regional and if all goes well, in San Antonio, but Connecticut's performance goes to show you (if not just me) how epic the champions were.  There was talk of a 3-peat a year ago.  That's fair enough, especially if their performance albeit in the a losing effort ends up being the best amongst Florida's foes next week.

I imagine the following may have been mentioned elsewhere, but it was rather neat that the team that took out Connecticut was the last team to repeat over the past 35 years.

Oh he totally traveled.  I'll sound like an ass for not caring that it wasn't called.  Probably not blatant enough to call it at that point coupled with the level of post-season play.  Probably gets called in November, or if a team called Cranberry Tech University does that against a Blue Blood like Duke, Michigan State or any team coached by Calipari or Pitino.
