It had a lot against it;  the writers strike,  Zaslav's cuts, basement ratings and Superman and Lois is more popular.   It was inevitable.

Despite being good shows, I expected that with the "new model" both Gotham Knights and Superman & Lois would be cancelled.

Superman & Lois, the number of episodes were greatly reduced and 7 long-term cast members were let go. A large number of affiliate TV stations are dropping the CW association.

Yes, even with the renewal next season will clearly be their last.

I'm bummed. I finally got the opportunity to finish this show and I liked it.  I'm not surprised this show didn't get renewed, though. I don't even remember it being much promoted. I stumbled across it and I'm a comic adaptation enthusiast. 

This article seems to confirm that it was doomed before it even premiered. 

I was hoping MAX might continue it. But it appears DC/WB is jettisoning the shows that are outside the  universe established in the films.
