Scarlett45 August 30, 2021 Share August 30, 2021 Quote Kanan and Marvin's side hustle goes awry; Raq seeks revenge for the attack on Scrappy; Jukebox suffers a devastating blow. Air Date: September 5 2021 Link to comment
AntFTW September 5, 2021 Share September 5, 2021 Kanan cooked poison crack. They didn’t make it surprising that Nicole would find the crack on Juke’s backpack, and also that Nicole would take a hit of it. Despite the build up of the poison crack, I didn’t see Nicole dying the way she did. I would’ve thought that she would have been shot or something but not death by crackpipe. 1 Link to comment
mxc90 September 5, 2021 Share September 5, 2021 (edited) Scrappy lost an eye and kidney but he'll be OK. He's battle tested! WTF! I guess Raq provides solider benefits and organ donors. Were there a list of instructions/pamphlets handed out to the buyers from out of town? Buy candy on the street, drive to the gas station, don't eat/pass back the candy, get drugs and bounce. For a moment, I thought the drugs were in the candy. Seems like a dumb plan. Any cop on surveillance can clearly see the car pull up to the gas station, not stop to buy any gas, see the transaction, and get their plate number. Since when was liking Hall and Oates something to be embarrassed to admit in the 90s? Seriously Symphony. I guess Symphony forgot about the lyrics in "Maneater". Raq is going to chew him up and she she did a few times this episode. How did Lou miss? Then he had the nerve to blame the gun. Worrell couldn't quickly grab his underwear/pants, put it on going down the fire escape and avoid having his "piece" swinging running down the middle of the street? Raq didn't know about Juke's preference. She handled it well. Nicole's father always enters her room acting the complete confused doofus! He'll probably be still confused at her funeral. See ya Nicole! I got the impression from the last episode, weed was her first time and only drug ever used. Was it ever mentioned she was a crack user? She had a pipe, lighter and knew how to use it. Earlier, she finds crack in Juke's bag, not bother question Juke why she had it or warn her to not get hooked on drugs and only thought of her selfish, greedy behind to get high. Nicole shamed Juke on "boostin" but crack is ok for her to have! I'll shame you later after my hit baby! It was funny that Nicole's mother was by her door all that time. Probably knocked on the door for hours. Sadly, the only pictures they will have of her in that dress will be from the coroner. Juke is going to flip on Kanan the "Bad Cook". Wonder how they got back on good terms after this. I didn't like the message from Raq and Juliana's conversation on the men hating them. Lou had balls sitting in that position in the diner to admit he was the one attempting hit. There should have been no way he walked out alive. "DMZ" should have meant nothing to Nique. Jessica surely has to be the next to go after this. I don't think "Chop it up" was a term used in the 90s. Edited September 5, 2021 by mxc90 1 Link to comment
ybrik September 5, 2021 Share September 5, 2021 Not surprised that Nicole had a tragic end but was kind of surprised how quickly it happened. As previous poster mentioned, were we supposed to be aware that she did drugs outside of smoking a joint? I thought we would get a more slow tragedy of Nicole thinking that she needed to try to fit in more with Juke’s world and taken drugs was a way and her getting addicted. Then she would eventually Od. Of course this is more realistic in that it just takes one bad batch of drugs to kill you. I wonder if the female cop uses this to make end roads with Juke especially if Juke blames her family for what happened to Nicole. I am interested in learning more about the cop. Is she going to be a good cop or is there something more to her that we will find out? Will she turn out to be a dirty cop? Lou just shot them both even if they are in the middle of sex. Why do I think Famous is going to get himself killed? 2 Link to comment

As far I recall it wasn’t mentioned. I expected Nicole to use once she found the vial and took it with her. I didn’t expect her to have a crack pipe and lighter ready and available in her room. Looking back at the scene from the previous episode, (I missed) Crown laced the weed with crack and passed it to Nicole. I don't know anything about addiction but she got hooked pretty quick to have drug paraphernalia in her dresser drawer. The people in charge must have wanted to get her off the show and stop paying her. I'm sure Detective Burke will have sharp memory and remember Nicole was with Juke at the bus stop. 2 hours ago, ybrik said: Why do I think Famous is going to get himself killed? Yes. If Davina can figure it out, Nique and others can put it together too. Edited September 5, 2021 by mxc90 1 Link to comment

I was discussing this with my Mom. I don’t think Nicole’s family will go looking for Jukebox or implicate her. They likely don’t know her last name, and they are going to want to pretend that Nicole had a brain aneurysm or something. My mom suggested that Jukebox may head to Nicole’s school and wait outside, and one of Nicole’s friends will tell her Nicole is dead. My Mom asked was Symphony gonna live out this season- I don’t know, I just don’t know. Edited to Add-Like I thought, Raq knew about Juke being gay and was waiting to be told. Juke looked very nice in her suit. Nicole did look so pretty. I told my Mom “she looks like Ariel!!!”(when she was in her wedding dress) I liked Nicole and I did not want to see her die. Hot damn. Kanan is a dumb kid, but I expected Marvin to have more sense. WHAT did they put in those drugs to kill everyone like that? Raq is going to flip out when she finds out what happened. 1 Link to comment

benteen September 7, 2021 Share September 7, 2021 Really good episode. I enjoy this show more and more every week. I had a feeling Nicole was a goner but I didn't expect it to happen this soon either. I usually don't care about teen romances but I liked the scenes Jukebox and Nicole had together. The actresses had chemistry with each other and both did a really good job, especially Hailey Kilgore as Jukebox. My only advice for Symphony is RUN. Do NOT end up like Nicole. Stupid Kanan...so desperate to be in the business and yet has no patience to actually LEARN any of it. He's just trying to cheat-code his way to the finish line. I'd be surprised of Jukebox doesn't find out about this but at the same time, will she because she doesn't seem like the kind of person who would just let this sort of thing go. 1 Link to comment

A part of me thinks Symphony will die to create emotional stakes for Raq, another part of me thinks he will live to be her “pull” out of the life- like Angela was for Ghost in the original Power. Poor Juke. 1 Link to comment

The way I thought of that was different in the way that Raq may have had a hunch or a good guess that Juke was gay but it only gonna be a hunch or a guess until Juke actually comes out to Raq. The moment where Raq comes into the room and takes a second to digest seeing Juke in a suit looking her up and down seems to me like she’s trying to conceal of the surprised look. I loved that dancing in the mirror. That gave me a chuckle. Raq being warm and comforting toward Juke was awesome. I couldn’t help but think “that’s family. That’s what family is supposed to be.” It reminded me of my own aunties who are so warm and loving. Edited September 7, 2021 by AntFTW 1 Link to comment

You are very right- I was not precise in my language, I meant that Raq strongly suspected Juke was gay and was waiting to be told/confided in. I thought that based on their conversation about having a “special someone” one or two episodes ago and Raq never using a pronoun or asking the person’s name. Raq is a loving Mom and Auntie, but she needs to get reign over Kanan. I understand Kanan wants to flex his little teen muscles but he keeps fucking up and no one has control over him. Hence the poisonous crack! Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu September 11, 2021 Share September 11, 2021 You buy a candy bar and then drive a few feet and exchange it for crack. Seems unduly complicated to me. Was there some kind of legal bartering loophole if the crack wasn't directly sold for money? I wonder if there's some kind of gangster symbolism to removing only one of someone's eyes? Poor Scrappy. Davina is either brave or stupid. Raq is going to kill her so hard when she finds out Davina is a two-faced rat. Or maybe Kanan will do it. Was that restaurant Tavern on the Green? OMG, crack called Cynda Williams. If that was actually a thing I bet she wasn't thrilled. Good lord, what did Kanan put in that crack, sarin? Nicole's mommy would rather her daughter get pregnant than be intimate with a girl. Oy. Wow, was Lou trying to get merked on the spot? Heh, Nique called him "a riddle wrapped up in a n***a." Seriously, that sounds like a rap line Famous would've come up with, after making a weird reference to Winston Churchill. At least Nicole's corpse was already dressed for burial. 😉 I think her parents will be coming straight for Juke, unless they're afraid of the gossip it'd create among their posh friends. Wonder if Juke will put it together that Nicole took Kanan's crack out of her bag and that's what killed her? Nicole's parents might try to keep the true cause of death quiet though so Juke might not be able to figure it out on her own. 2 Link to comment

I assume Jukebox will find that thing (I forgot what it was) that Nicole left for her. Maybe Juke will put the pieces together of the place she left Kanan’s (missing) crack and where Nicole put the gift or whatever it was. Edited September 11, 2021 by AntFTW 1 Link to comment
