the tree house story was stupid.  It's one thing to not want to hurt a friend's feelings.  It's another to flat out let him build something dangerous.  Plus, they kept moving even when they knew they shouldn't.

I liked the cookie baking story better.  But, when Macolm chose his mom's cookies, I thought it was going to be because he  knew they were hers and when she left he was going to tell Gemma hers were actually better.  But Gemma taking a dive was good, too.

It was nice of Gemma to sabotage her own cookies so Tina would win. I wasn't expecting that at all. She's a good friend. 

The treehouse story amused me. I think I just liked Calvin excited to work together with Dave. Marty's reaction when finding out Calvin was building a tree house for Grover made me laugh. Pure horror on his face, heh.

The  idea of a bridge / catwalk connecting their houses was really adorable actually.

I laughed through the whole thing, especially when the treehouse was collapsing. The nails were a security system!

I thought it was a good plot twist that Calvin could not build a treehouse. He has an auto shop so should be mechanically capable, and apparently he knew his way around the home improvement store. It was funny to see Dave conflicted about it, although I don't think he would have let Grover play in an unsafe treehouse.

It was also odd how Marty and Malcolm survived until adulthood if this was the kind of thing going on when they were kids.

This might be why Marty is an engineer!  He probably had to do a lot of Root Cause Corrective Action analysis back in the day, just to survive.
