topanga January 19, 2021 Share January 19, 2021 What happened over the summer between Olivia and Spencer? All episode I wondered why they were acting so weird around one another. I was worried that Simone’s dad was going to steal the baby. I’m glad the show didn’t go down that soap opera route. And what’s up with the principal still being bitter about something that happened over 30 years ago? I can understand if he doesn’t like Billy, but he’s acting like such a child. 1 Link to comment
KWalkerInc January 19, 2021 Share January 19, 2021 I get the feeling they're going to drag it out forever before they tell what happened between Spencer and Olivia, kind of like in season 1 when they wouldn't tell what Grace and Billy's secret was. I'm also guessing that Olivia has been secretly drinking ever since her relapse (especially with having not been in touch with Spencer for so long). When they showed her taking a sip of something at one point, it seemed like it might be spiked. I was afraid that Simone's dad was going to try to convince her not to go through with the adoption (for himself, not for the interests of her or the baby), that maybe it hadn't been finalized yet. Maybe he would have if he hadn't been moved by the adoptive dad's words. The ending was nice. It is stupid that they are having the principal doing all this stuff now just because of Billy's past behavior. He was already trying to get rid of the team when he was superintendant and Billy was at Beverly (although maybe he hates football because of the players being mean to him and getting sent away, so that could have been his motivation before the personal stuff with Billy). It is just a substitute as a rival for Billy for the annoying booster guy in past seasons, though they obviously have opposite feelings about football. I'm glad that the high school sports reporters here have not acted like the ones Spencer has to deal with on the show! Otherwise it would have sucked back in the day for my friends or schoolmates who were good at sports and getting interviewed a lot. (Even when there have been kids that have done bad things, it hasn't been made into a huge story, so they would never harass someone as nice as Spencer. Stories about transfers rarely said much if there actually was bad blood so as not to make it worse.) I hope they will address, even if it's just a throwaway line, what happened to Darnell. They made such a big deal about how he should stay at South Crenshaw for his senior year when his mom didn't like it, and now he's nowhere in sight. I hope any explanation won't just be "he went to live with his mom" after all that. I can't remember if he actually signed with UCLA in the episode where Spencer was told he didn't have an offer. He could have enrolled early, that would work. I liked how they pivoted and made Mo (Tyrone's sister) seem to be doing good things, even though I don't buy that she changed her mind about revenge. She quoted all that Shakespeare when she visited Preach in the season finale, and some elaborate plan to catch Coop off-guard seems like something she would get from his works. Plus, they played ominous music when she was talking to Coop, and the music doesn't lie! 1 1 Link to comment

He's still on the Crenshaw team but I suspect that he won't be in as many episodes this season because while he recurs on this show, he's a series regular on a Starz series and an HBO Max show. 1 2 Link to comment
mojoween January 20, 2021 Share January 20, 2021 First time I saw Coop I smiled so big. I love her so. So it seems like the pandemic is not a thing in this universe, but when Spencer was on the bus the guy riding in the back was wearing a mask. But hey, if they want to have Black Lives Matter but not a pandemic that is a-ok. It also seems like this ep is just before school started, but we are going to get a lot of flashbacks of the summer to explain what the heck everyone is talking about? 2 Link to comment

I've shipped them since the show started, so I like the idea of them being together. But they both seem so conflicted about whatever happened. I don't think Spencer cheated on Olivia--they were on a break, right? But were Olivia and --white wide receiver dude--on a break? I can't remember. I'm also concerned about whether Olivia drank or did drugs over the summer and if she stopped. Is she going to meetings? 19 hours ago, mojoween said: First time I saw Coop I smiled so big. twoods January 21, 2021 Share January 21, 2021 (edited) Really show? You finally get Olivia and Spencer together while she’s with Asher so she cheated on him? Blah. I feel like they are getting lazy with their cliche writing. I like Olivia and Asher so this storyline is going to drag. I hope Olivia isn’t drinking again. I liked that Jordan was mad at Spencer since he felt abandoned by a brother. I always hate revenge storylines, especially when you’re avenging a scummy person who hurt a lot of people. I don’t believe that Tyrone’s sister would risk her career for her stupid drug dealing brother. I know the principal is supposed to be the villain, but I am enjoying staring at him. Damn is he hot. Continuing to love the eye candy on this show. Edited January 21, 2021 by twoods 1 Link to comment
