Ahsoka, With Tuesday-Night Debut, Lands at No. 2 on Nielsen Streaming Ranking, Bests Andor’s Premiere
BY MATT WEBB MITOVICH   SEPTEMBER 21, 2023
https://tvline.com/ratings/ahsoka-disney-plus-premiere-nielsen-streaming-ranking-1235047119/

Quote

Disney+’s Ahsoka debuted at No. 2 on Nielsen’s latest U.S. ranking of streaming originals.

The Mandalorian offshoot — with its double-episode, Tuesday-night premiere — racked up 829 million minutes viewed for the week of Monday, Aug. 21. Ashoka thus bested Andor‘s triple-episode debut (which last September garnered 624 million minutes viewed in its first week) and The Mandalorian Season 3’s opening week (823 million minutes), yet fell well shy of Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s double-episode premiere (1.03 billion minutes).

I also watched the honest trailer commentary. I get the gripes but hearing them made me realize Star Wars fans who chose not to watch any of the animated shows are at a huge disadvantage and because they don't know lore. They don't have any patience for anything that unless it's like the Original Trilogy while those who watched Clone Wars and Rebels are able to accept new kinds of stories and from different POVs.

I like the part about how Star Wars is just continuing and retelling the same stories over and over again. The sad thing is it seems that the lesson Disney execs took from the success of Mandalorian season 1 was just the basic one that people want Star Wars TV shows not the more challenging one that people want new stories with original characters.

Star Wars Undertakes Universe-Shaking Changes After Ahsoka
BY ANTHONY BREZNICAN   NOVEMBER 21, 2023

Filoni will continue developing his film, as well as exploring a possible second season of Ahsoka, while serving in his new position. “To truly help filmmakers, it was really important for me to experience it firsthand,” he says. “I can also lend a perspective on the challenges that telling these stories will present. I feel more capable of actually being helpful outside of just saying, ‘Well, Jedi are like this, and Sith are like this…’”

C-3PO, Ahsoka
...
We had already been quite thrilled when Episode 5 of Disney+’s latest Star Wars series made passing mention of one Senator Leia Organa. (We’re easy that way.) But two weeks later, when Hera faced a court martial for defying orders, who rode to her rescue — with an (alleged) message from Leia — but C-3PO. This was not the cameo we were looking for, but what a golden delight.

Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, Ahsoka
...
One of the TV year’s most dynamic duos, Baylan and his apprentice drew our focus every time they stepped into frame. Ray Stevenson filled the screen with his 6-foot-3 frame and textured voice, while Ivanna Sakhno imbued Shim with a quiet, but explosive, intensity. —Matt Webb Mitovich

Is Disney Bad at Star Wars? An Analysis
By James Hibberd   October 3, 2024
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-wars-disney-analysis-ratings-box-office-1236011620/

—2023’s Ahsoka from Clone Wars mastermind and Mandalorian co-chief Dave Filoni, now in the live-action driver’s seat for first time. The show received positive reviews (86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and a somewhat mixed reaction from fans. Ahsoka’s premiere ratings were comparable to The Mandalorian season three opener (829 million minutes), then it declined to average around 570 million minutes for the rest of its run. A second season was announced as in development in January, and sources say the new season will go into production next year.
