greekmom May 31, 2020 Share May 31, 2020 I'm on hold for the books from the library. 1. are they worth it? 2. is the show much different from the books? 3. is Issac's story in the books? Thanks 1 Link to comment
methodwriter85 June 6, 2020 Share June 6, 2020 (edited) I did not read the books but read an article about the changes. Apparently Issac didn't exist, the car crash at the end of the season didn't happen, Ryan didn't exist, the Eric/Helena ship went faster, the school board threatened to fire Cal over his romance with Maddie, Kyle wasn't friends with Noreen at all nor was he into Annie or felt ignored by his family, and Annie had an eating disorder that landed her in the hospital due to cardiac issues. (Bulimia? That tends to wreck havoc on your heart.) Her relationship with Ty developed as a result of him coming to the hospital and caring for her. There was also a single mom sous chef named Karen. She might still come into play? Edited June 6, 2020 by methodwriter85 1 Link to comment

Thundercatmary June 18, 2020 Share June 18, 2020 They don’t seem to be showing Annie as having a eating disorder, I suspect she’s the other person in the car and will be hospitalized. Might then lead into the stuff with Ty from the books, like she’s hospitalized but for a different reason. 1 Link to comment

You’ve probably finished them by now but just in case your TBR pile looks like mine, the entire 1st book is Maddie & Cal’s relationship. By the 2nd or 3rd book, they’ve married and she has 1 or 2 (it’s been awhile since I’ve read them) more kids. Besides the main characters, I don’t find that much the same. Edited May 5, 2022 by Tdoc72 1 1 Link to comment
greekmom July 22, 2023 Share July 22, 2023 Finished season 3 and I have to say i am super disappointed (again) that the story moved so slow. 1. Maddie and Dana Sue should have been married by now. We should have been on Helen's wedding 2. Cal is a carpenter/contractor instead of getting reinstated as a teacher? 3. At the end of the season, they should have had the Esthetician from the spa or Noreen's love story with Jeremy set up as either plot A or plot B for season 4. 4. I don't mind either the addition of Noreen staying or Issac that is different from the book. 5. I found season 3 too much "bible thumping" (lack of better words, sorry) than the books or the previous 2 seasons. 6. It was so long between seasons, I kept getting Ty and Jackson mixed up. 7. I didn't like the Kathy storyline either. Again, I don't remember her from the books Overall, they had a chance to deal with Netflix for 3 seasons and just do the story up of the 3 main characters per season and blew it. Netflix is notorious for cancelling and I don't see season 4 for this show. If it happens, especially with the writers/actor's strike it would be a miracle Pastor June prayed for. 2 Link to comment

I’ve read all the books and the storylines that aren’t in the books are distracting me. And it’s more “wholesome” for lack of a better word, than I remember the books being. But I’m still watching, just started season 3. I’ve liked Brooke Elliot since Drop Dead Diva and am amused that the brother from Election is Bill. (Chris something, I don’t remember his last name). Chris Klein. Will always remember him as Oz from American Pie. 1 Link to comment
