  1. Yeah, I really enjoyed it, but it was priced too high. You'd be alright waiting for the library. Hadn't heard about the new Murakami story, but I guess I'll probably wait on that one this time.
  2. Okay, I'm at least temporarily convinced, Bob. Let's do this. 5 to David Lynch SVNBob (BizBuzz, TJtrack99, JayKay, Stacey, photo fox); 3 to try to be the voice of reason and logic. 8 to David Lynch JayKay (writingdreamer, SVNBob, The Crazed Spruce, Athena, TMunz, jessied112, egavasc, Dougal); 0 to poke it with a really sharp stick and see what happens.
  3. I'd buy that wd is a hero who somehow got information from Constantine, who is Spruce. The Sting=>Constantine "fields of gold" reference seems pretty plausible.... Though Spruce did pretty strongly imply that he's an unnamed character (who would it be? I don't watch the shows, but isn't Harvey Dent blonde/blue-eyed/tall? Has he been on Gotham?), that could just be misdirection to try to keep the villains from thinking he's an important hero. Italicizing count and capitalizing Victor are pretty huge...Bob being Zsasz seems very possible at this point; as likely as that wd has good information, maybe.
  4. Basically: I'm pretty confident Spruce is Constantine. Similarly, SVNBob is either Montoya (as he's claiming) or "someone shout[ing] from the crowd" who "had simply engendered chaos," in which case he's probably a villain/the serial killer. writingdreamer is either a hero and probably has investigated JayKay (I don't get the "fields of gold" reference and can't find it on Google, but I don't watch any of these shows...), or is trying to deceive us. It seems pretty unlikely that both writingdreamer and SVNBob are villains trying to trick us (though I guess one of them could be the serial killer). My hunch is that they're not both being honest, but I don't know which one. I know SVNBob can be a pretty convincing liar in this case; I don't know anything about writingdreamer. Not sure what to think of BizBuzz; she seems to be acting sort of suspiciously, but then I thought that last game for basically the same reasons and she was a hero. So for now my vote is staying as-is, but I could definitely be convinced to switch. I think that it's pretty likely if we get this one wrong, the other one will be a villain.
  5. This isn't absolutely certain that Constantine is the same one who came from the party, but it seems likely. a) The one being lynched, Spruce, is definitely the same as the man from the party, which sure seems like it means he's Constantine, though I could definitely be wrong. Are any of the other male characters in play tall, handsome, elusive, blonde, and sort-of blue eyed? I'll go through those in a minute. b) I don't see that Montoya necessarily started the lynch, just that she was part of it. The "someone shout[ing] from the crowd" could have been. But if you're claiming that you're Montoya, then maybe you're Montoya; I guess you would know. I don't know about the "Constantine is someone else" (maybe it's who writingdreamer is claiming to be? I'll go back and look...). But I think I probably agree with Biz on: Comics: , TV: What other characters are there? Using your list, which I don't think we've had any information since to contradict: Ollie/Arrow: Laurel knows him, black hair John (Diggle, presumably): Laurel knows him, black hair, brown eyes Felicity: Laurel knows her, woman Barry/Flash: Laurel knows him, brown hair Caitlin: woman John Constantine: strong match except for sort of the eyes Alfred: gray hair, and no Bruce: child Montoya: woman (Crispus) Allen: bald, brown eyes Bullock: brown hair, brown eyes Falcone: gray-to-no hair, Laurel met him Merlyn: Laurel knows him, black hair Cobblepot: black hair Captain Cold: brown hair, doesn't really make sense in the story I think Laurel: ...no Zsasz: bald Jim Gordon: dead Barbara: woman, dead So Constantine really seems like the only possibility, unless it's someone in a wig or the character list is wrong.
  6. Hmm. That part of the story: So, just putting it out there since there's no reason to talk around it at this point, Spruce would be Constantine, and Montoya and Barry are two of the attackers (presumably the people who voted: SVNBob, Dougal, Tabbyclaw, jessied112, HalcyonDays, Silverstormm, BizBuzz, Athena, TJtrack99); the instigator is "someone...from the crowd". Not clear who the protector is or if it's his own power that saved him, or really what Bob is saying without saying about the attacker, since I guess I'm tired.
  7. Wasn't CP killed by the serial killer, though? So I don't know if that tells us anything. (And Biz, I wouldn't take the relative silence as being suspicious, more just that most of us are probably still in Thanksgiving-induced comas.) I really don't know if I trust writingdreamer's claims of being an investigator...but I'm also not real confident that they're false, which you kind of need to go the other way. That said, I'm still kind of mad at Bob from last game so I might let that tip my judgement here. :) So at least for now: 4 to David Lynch SVNBob (BizBuzz, TJtrack99, JayKay, Dougal); 4 to investigate via autopsy. 2 to David Lynch JayKay (writingdreamer, SVNBob); 6 to fight heaven and earth.
  8. A rom-com star rounds out a large cast of comedians in this political thriller told in brief vignettes.
  9. The argument against Spruce seems much stronger than the one against HD. Sorry, Spruce! 2 to David Lynch The Crazed Spruce (MarkHB, Dougal); 7 to shout obscenities into the trunk of his car. 4 to David Lynch Halcyon Days (BizBuzz, writingdreamer, Silverstormm, The Crazed Spruce); 5 to rock you like a hurricane.
  10. If you've read the comics, be very careful to avoid spoiling those who don't, and keep in mind that some people may have much stricter notions of what a spoiler is. Any substantial comic talk should go in the comics thread; minor discussion is okay here, but be very liberal with the spoiler tags, and don't give away too much outside the tags either. We're still figuring out what the right solution for this is; we'd love your thoughts on it here.
  11. Oh, wow, I never even thought to go into people's profiles to look for clues. Dunno if that's "fair game" or not. Like Tabbyclaw, I interpret "never let them see you sweat" as much more of a "keep a good public face going" rather than "keep calm", and just point out that jumping on someone for not agreeing with something is just as suspicious as or even more suspicious than not agreeing with something....
  12. Interesting that they're setting it parallel with the show; wonder how that'll play out. It's different from TWD in that the compelling part of that is mostly the appeal of the setting and the tone, where my interest in GoT is more the specific characters / political machinations than the world, so I'm curious how something like this'll turn out. I was kind of hoping for something set during Robert's rebellion, which might work better there in that it can use characters we know about but not have them in places we've seen before. Definitely looking forward to this, anyway!
  13. Yeah, I did pretty much the same, though as a grad student I don't have to tell anyone that I'm doing that. :) I did end up restarting, and am now past where I was before. I made the other choice with the first main quest where you have the choice, so I really didn't repeat that much stuff, and swapped race/class also.
  14. Shows how close I was reading the story, I guess. :)
  15. Wow...rough. Did we intentionally not get a "there were X clues" message? Anyway, assuming there was a clue, the only thing that really stood out to me on first reading was the explicit mention of "Ketel One and Oxy." Is that her drink of choice on the show? (I'd assume it's not referenced by name, but I dunno, don't watch.) Just free-associating here, "Ketel" makes me think "kettle" makes me think "tea", like the letter T, but I dunno. That or "stealing the fiber" – that might be something?
  16. I screwed up with the Keep, and plugged in all my choices but forgot to hit "export to DA:I" before starting playing. I'm an embarrassing number of hours in already, but contemplating restarting, since I didn't realize it for a few hours and every time something different from what I actually did gets imported, I get annoyed....
  17. This one was really good! I loved how much of Chip Gardner made it in from the podcast, Chris Hardwick was much funnier to me than the guests usually are, and Lennon Parham's character was pretty good too. ("Like someone standing on the roof of the Folger's factory, coffee is now beneath me.")
  18. Last time I try to figure stuff out. /sulk
  19. I buy it on Amazon. Means that I have to catch up on 8 pages of discussion after I watch on Monday nights, though. :|
  20. Ooh, interesting. I guess I have to think about whether playing on PS4 is worth not being able to play it while I go away for Thanksgiving the week after it comes out, then....
  21. I really wanted to like season 2 more than season 1, but I just don't think it was as strong. Still wonderful, though. Haven't played Wolf Among Us yet — I read the first volume of the comics and it felt too much like Sandman Lite tone-wise for me to want to stick with it, but I'll get to the game eventually. After Dragon Age, which I suppose I'm getting for PC because I want to import data from the first two (on PC).... Shadows of Mordor was fun. I replayed Last of Us (in remastered version this time) right after it and was pretty surprised to learn that Tallion and Joel were the same voice actor.
  22. I liked that there were too pack-on-more-and-more-layers jokes here (the cold opening and Reggie's commercials), both of which I think went just into the funny-again level without going too far.... Dane Cook did basically nothing, which I'm fine with. (His showing on the podcast a few weeks ago was...not great.)
  23. This thread is for talking about the episode before and while it airs. Afterwards, take it to the main episode thread.
