  1. I cut LW a lot of slack as far as her character is concerned due to Laura picking up the slack in just about every scene she shares with Mo. Still think that this soap opera would see a marked improvement with both characters vacating Port Charles. Maura West would be more enjoyable to watch for this viewer paired with Sonny, but Sonny must always come out smelling like a rose. CW did a good job softening him up but after a couple of weeks after Nixon Falls, the only enjoyable scenes with Nina were her martini sessions with Ava. As much as I like CW and MW, both characters are situated on the 'bloated' cast side of the island.
  2. Saw my first episode since Jason's return and the the new head writing team. Sam is a beneficiary and Alexis is not. So the same 5 million that Carly had three different people willing to bail her out, the new writers have two of them with their check books out. That is not the direction that I had hoped for. NuMolly turned in a fine performance in this episode but.... Meh. Still on the barge until St. Jason departs or MB or LW. Despite new writers, there seemed to be no improvement from what I watched today.
  3. Better writing should improve certain aspects of the show, but the bigger corrective action that show needs now is removing some characters (Spinelli nor Jason should have been rehired). Upon finishing that recent episode of Spinelli performing Karoake, I immediately cancelled my Hulu (and my Disney+ will not be renewed). If TPTB thinks that the audience likes SBu and BM, then bring them back as Dr. Matt and Dr. Stephen Lars and not as felons. I have had my fill of Sonny, Carly and Jason and my current tolerance limit is viewing just two of them. Until MB leaves the show, this viewer will no longer be supporting GH (cable/hulu/etc). Since the cast appears to be fine with supporting the mob, the only BTS folks that I feel bad for - are the production folks.
  4. D.A. Scorpio calling out Sonny as a 'murderous bastard' was a crumb that I am not too ashamed to have enjoyed. I am currently a Hulu subscriber so I appreciate reading here to see what is in store for the upcoming episode. Despite being prepared (Taliskar) and expected to be annoyed with an appearance by Stephen A. Myth*, he does come prepared for his scenes. Can't stand him ((going back years as a last place Redsox fan)) but whoever is helping him prepare his dialogue for his guest appearances might prove useful for Mo. *I vaguely remembered mention of a recent on-air rant/argument between Stephen who was fat shaming some other sports announcer, so I did a Google search for a link. One of the first articles that popped up was an interview which mentioned that, as one of Disney's favorite sons, he is coming up for a contract renewal in a year and is not sure if he wants to continue in sports talk, acting, or maybe politics. Whatever. 🤞Hope that his future resides far far far away from Port Charles. To this viewer Smith is yet another character that commits heinous crimes but is treated with deference in Port Charles instead of being treated like Nina or like the dregs of society. When was the last time a regular cast member called Sonny a 'murderous bastard'? Sonny is celebrating and toasting and (at a minimum) he should be under psychiatric lockdown for his beating with hisbare hands of Cyrus over a couple of words with Cyrus not resisting. When was the last couple that worked - Chase and Willow? Casting received an Emmy this year (iirc)- (should have gone to the set designer/props department).
  5. Yes indeed. I must have missed the scene where Jordan was kidnapped. I probably would have enjoyed her scenes more (and other characters) if Carly/Sonny et. al. didn't eat so much of the show. This is endemic throughout the PC-verse. Did we really need to see those scenes of Sonny strolling into Cyrus' hospital room to basically lift up one of his hind legs and mark his territory? Wasn't military-grade weapon trafficker Sonny pummeling a guy nearly to death in church (replete with flashbacks) enough of a statement?
  6. I would much rather watch Tracy/Scott any day of the week than having to watch the two vile criminal characters portrayed by MB or LW.
  7. From the moment she strolled into that room and gingerly laid that fur coat on the table, Maura just slayed. Avery P. is also receiving some master class lessons from GF. Great to see Dr. Lucas Jones, MD. This show could use more doctors. While I am grateful for the Bobby memorial, what an ego she must have had. These past couple of years, her only purpose seemingly was to prop up Carly and was treated with little more thought/care than a piece of lint.
  8. And you can receive an apology from the arresting police officer. Cyrus is lucky he was not arrested for hurting Sonny's knuckles. Willow/Sasha/Brooklyn are finally getting stories where they do not have to play victim. Nice to finally see some positive output from that neglected age-group. Mention of Aunt Ruby 👍 today (but not deemed worthy of a photo like thug Jason).
  9. He shared some scenes in an episode with Lois that had me wishing that she could stay as Lois had made both Olivia and Sonny more tolerable to watch. Weeks later, she has been turned into a more obnoxious version of Olivia. Both actresses seem to be enjoying themselves and are not mailing it in but their scenes seem limited to either railing on Tracy and/or making a Bensonhurst reference. or this.
  10. What a pleasant episode as it gave some characters some breathing space. Quite the contrast from yesterday's argument between Carly and Nina (the one between two visitors that took place on a hospital floor on Christmas). LW seemed one notch on the rage scale away from laying hands on Nina, whereas today LH was even more brutal, but seemingly, even the threat of physical violence was not present. And this is from someone who has never had much patience with Lucy Coe. Scottie and Tracy scenes might be great fun - even more than they entertained me back in the 1970s. Yeah nothing is much deeper than the bond between sisters... except for the bond between the mother and her child. Chase should attempt his second hot yoga class. Some random older guy with a cane coming to his first hot yoga class would be signing some waivers, to include one stating that his physician approves. Still, glad that hot yoga was mentioned - much more welcomed than the mob stuff. Ymmv.
  11. I truly had hoped that the writers had upped their game during their recent time-out. Looking at the ELQ/Aurora and Anna plots, they clearly failed. So much clunky dialogue during yesterday's morgue and doc scenes. I am appreciative of this lengthy Christmas season this year. Port Charles (both on-screen and behind the scenes) could use an extra chunk of holiday cheer. Sasha's pink shirt she wore on Friday was very loud. Adopt - if you can't wait. MW seemed ok in her recent scene with Carly where she mustered up one of her signature looks - a dripping with disgust sneer at Carly.🤞
  12. The word used was "impetuous". Yeah, not a word that rolls off the lips. At best, at least it was a slight improvement than earlier in the week whereby Lois was reciting a glowing one-minute (scene) commercial about how wonderful Michael is. And that was due to Michael performing actions that no mere shareholder should have undertaken. Since ELQ is a private company, plenty more wiggle room for gray actions than a publicly held company such as Aurora. Rarely does an episode go by that I don't evaluate the episode having to wonder if FV is upset that his show got cancelled and that he is passive-aggressively sticking it to GH.
  13. Sure Kober is a terrorist but isn't Sonny even worse? Sonny is an accessory to trafficking military-grade weapons - toppling governments instead of wiping out a bunch of innocent civilians. But I agree that Laura should not be expected to be anything more than civil, if that, to a thug who is responsible for Lulu's coma.
  14. While typically soaring multiple atmospheric levels above the rest of the actors in her scenes, Maura has not been so smooth (relatively) in a couple of recent scenes although probably due to the idiotic script. For example, in her last scene with Sonny, I had no idea which expression/emotion the actress was going for. During yesterday's episode, Sonny tells Ava about Austin's death and asked if she had anything to do with it cause he's a family man and prefers that his kids are not separated from their mothers who commit felonies. {great messaging abc/disney}. The final scene or two consisted of Sonny warning Ava that she would be a murder suspect. So what? They both committed murders in the past. Maura and her bro should have come on as doctors (or a biz wiz pitted against Tracy). Instead, they mobbed Ava up, poisoned her with a sperm from sonny, and then saddled her with penguin-loving Morgan. Despite the detritus strewn in her path, Maura has made Port Charles a more enjoyable place to tune into M-F for 36 minutes. Not only does she elevate her scene partners, she almost always leaves me thinking that she is holding back from going for the jugular. IMO, she is on another level than most of the daytime actors. One of the very few transplanted cast members that has made a consistently positive contribution to the show week in and week out. I was a fan of the actress playing the first nuMolly who might not have gelled or looked like her siblings, but she had amazing chemistry with both Jordan and TJ. This current Molly seems to fit in better with Alexis, Kristina and Sam. Detective Briscoe and Dante's scenes seemed as smooth as watching a prime-time police drama. Why is this lollipop-sucking slime ball still on my screen?
  15. It took well over an hour to watch yesterday's thirty-six minutes - are the old writers back? I like Curtis focused and given a purpose on figuring out who shot him. Of course, that 'like' lasted until the next scene when Curtis bragged about him 'giving' of himself. This caused me to rewind this a couple of times and finally figured out that Curtis meant 'giving' was him providing his cop/private-eye expertise to solving the crime of who landed him in a wheel chair. CD looks much better in sweaters and flannel shirts than suits/starched shirts. Carly/Willow/Brook Lynn's dresses did not work - Emma's did. Can Dianne go back to playing the role of Alexis' sounding board? I am still trying to process why someone's grandmother crashed the Q's. At least the Q's have Tracy and Lois to inject energy. Anna needs a time out but I enjoy a pissed-off Anna vs. a weeping one. Perhaps the writers can just have one character going off on Nina per episode. I do think that Ned and Anna do need to have a conversation with Nina as they both were negatively affected by her actions. But whatever merits their concerns are/were, the Carlys will be magnifying and providing a huge echo chamber that whatever action Nina chose made her a worse human being than one who traffics military-grade weapons or 'cuts corners' in business or receives a $5 million dollar SEC fine. So Michael was never punished for his involvement in the insider-trading? No suspension/warning letter/audit?
  16. Yeah. Great reminder that things can always get worse. Props to NLG who has recently been working a bunch of stories and has deftly provided cover for all of the new actresses. Shout-out to the longshoremen came out of nowhere but noted. Really enjoyed seeing a different side of Dante in his scenes with Roho. It feels like years already.
  17. Even if it turns out that a wand is waved and Spencer is indeed the father, NC comes across playing Spencer like a border-line manic when it come to Ace. I don't watch with sound. But it appears with his growth spurt, along with his delivery of dialogue choices (e.g., going from zero-to-100 mph when Ace's name is invoked) makes Spencer come across as a threatening individual. I fully expected him to stand up and toss the table at the metro-court when Laura told him that Esme was moving out. The collateral benefit is that Joss (in the roll of supporting actress) comes across in a more positive way. so yea🫤. #missing_Sidney/William Lipton. Maxie/Brook Lynn/Sasha age group needs an actress that can herd that group together - probably in the role of Lulu. Amanda Setton has been infuriating watching Brook Lynn for this viewer as she has seems to have the acting chops but it's like getting another 'Maxie' when this show needs a 'Lulu'. As things can always get worse, fingers are crossed that the casting folks choose for nuLulu someone like the new Kristina instead of acting student Dex.
  18. While it is not moss-level appealing optically, I appreciate that shower curtain (replete with mold) hanging in Michael's office. It helped my mind dim the cognitive dissonance of Carly's rationale for her criminal behavior diminishing of her crimes as 'cutting corners'. I also appreciated being able to focus on the decapitated statue/head in Sonny's living room instead of trying to process how the male lead in this soap opera doesn't express regret for shooting a law enforcement officer - well except for the fact that the cop was his own blood and flesh. Can Lois stay? She elevates her partners in scenes. Not only did she have me 'enjoying' scenes with both Sonny and Olivia - but her scene with Tracy at the door was the jam. At this point, I think that I would enjoy watching scenes with Lois and Tracy watching paint drying than another Carly/Drew scene or another Sonny scene claiming that he prays/goes to church so he is morally absolved for his portion of the violence strewn across the PC-verse. Who knew that not having Dante/Sam kissing passionately in every one of their episodes would bode well for the growth and likeability for both of their characters. Less is more sometimes.
  19. Thank you for the explanation. I am not familiar with reading a lot of pro-Carly comments and not too many - unfortunately - venture out to this neck of the web.
  20. She just had a guy who was just a couple of years ago was held prisoner in a place worse than pentonville, volunteer to descend into that madness again. How is this a win for Carly? So yeah. Not a fan of either Jason or Drew but they both suffered horrific beatings in their violent lifestyles. Drew chose the side of good and still got kidnapped, beat and tortured (in a place worse than Pentonville). Drew's first appearance consisted of BM laying in a hospital bed for months due to traumatic brain injury. It was not that far of a time in the past. As I am not up on social media, besides Nina not having what it takes to deal with the world of illegal arms traffickers or whatever other violent crime Sonny entertains himself with, however is this a win for Carly fans? Carly is not even taking care of her kids. She started a new business. As said upthread, there needs to be a quantum leap SORAS for Scout.
  21. Is there no one else in the PC-verse besides a violent mob boss that Laura might want providing any type of guidance to your grandson? It would have been much more fun to have a MW in the LW role - YMMV. The only remotely compelling item about watching this father/daughter plot featuring two minor characters is that it seems to be clear of Sonny and the Carlys. Both actors seem to be putting in an effort - so there's that.
  22. As someone who wasn't watching when Lois was around, I have to say that the Lois and Sonny scenes were the best scenes that I have ever seen MB in. Lois and Sonny have chemistry (not romantic - like Liz and Finn). I did catch Brenda in the early teens and her later shorter stint (iirc - jax was involved) and never understood the adoration for the character. The actress was fine but portrayed the character as a 'mean girl' and came across as a Carly. ymmv. I know that I am missing a chunk of her history because i have no understanding as to why Robin would hang out with her. CW put in a splendid performance with CD last week - for a total of ONE minute after this viewer has had to suffer through hours of irrational dialogue lifting up Sonny/Carly. I forgot what a beautiful and talented actress she is and just wallowed with Nina as CW was able to be an MB whisperer.
  23. He is a better actor than Dex despite being on just a handful of times so far. I think that he is in an in-between state. He looks like he aged a bit since his last appearance (and he isn't getting uglier). For the first time for this viewer, little James is no longer a totally adorable little cutie. He needs some discipline BUT the smiles between Maxie and James are awesome to watch. In a way, I think that Maxie and Michael would have been a much healthier match for both characters and the show. While not as bad as his father's participation in the trafficking of military grade weapons, didn't Michael commit a felony by intentionally obtaining confidential information about an on-going SEC investigation of his company? Dante needs to spend more time at the shooting range.
  24. It is not a matter of whether or not the female deserves a comeuppance (in this case Gladys), it is disgusting that this male continually threatens to commit violence against anyone, especially females, and he is the lead of this show. ETA: Perhaps if I watched mb years ago, I might have a different viewpoint (as far as having a more positive opinion of his acting chops). Then again, abc/Disney seem to love him and this soap is still being broadcast. To be sure Gladys deserved to get read the riot act and in this instance, her cousin Sonny was actually the right person to go after her -if they did not want her in jail/rehab/on the show any longer.
