Toddlers & Tiaras - General Discussion

Can you imagine how much money these folks would have if they simply invested all the funds spent on this nonsense and let it grow for 15 years (maybe for college tuition)? -

I'm afraid that my guiltiest pleasure is going to suck. The team rivalry that the producers set up will quickly devolve into manufactured drama, which is what usually ends up causing me to tune out. This is going to become another Candy Apples vs. Abby Lee Miller deal; I stopped watching that crap years ago. -

LittleIggy, the item that Darren brought (that he found in his bag) was chamois/a deerskin and he used it for shoes and a loincloth. Kim used the leftover chamois for her bikini. -

They are dropping like flies. -
Ummm, I'm sorry but who is Caleb? I swear I've watched every episode; apparently Caleb didn't make much of an impression on me.

I just don't think the writers of this show have the capacity or sophistication to even contemplate using the closing door as a metaphor. I too thought someone had walked in and witnessed the assisted death, but ended up attributing the slamming door to the "wind" when it was clear no one was there.

Didn't he say that the lizard had poison glands behind its jaws, thus he had to grab it a certain way? I think the meat might have been tainted. -
I'm getting some horrible "The Killing" flashbacks! Was the actor who plays Grown-Ass Garrett kicked in the forehead by a horse at an early age? I just find those waves in the middle of his forehead so weird. I thought it might have been lighting or makeup, but now not so much. Are we sure that the reporter's video was live (if you pardon the expression)? I think you're giving the director/production staff much too much credit there. The "killer" was probably a production assistant who happened to be on the set at the time the scene was filmed and no one really cared if he/she fit the body type of any possible suspect.

I think the reporter was killed by her own turtleneck.

S02.E01: XL 2 Sneak Peek - Mission Impossible

I think it was mentioned in one of the lead-ups to the actual show that they aren't allowed to use the bags for anything and must carry them around wherever they go because there is some audio equipment in them. -
I thought the entire scene, from the first sentence of the letter she was made to read (and the head nod to her right, indicating the kidnapper was there) to the news anchorman wrapping it up was hilarious. I am roaring just thinking about it. The rest of of the show? Meh. Tess and Brady(?)Brody(?) have negative chemistry, if that's even possible.

Looking back at it, that first woman who tapped out ten minutes after the start of the 40 day challenge was a genius. -

If I wanted to waste my time watching someone sitting around not doing anything, I could set up a camera and point it at myself.- 208 replies

Ryan's life quest annoyed me, not so much because he decided to go off on his own, but because you are NOT on your own with a cameraman and a producer (and possibly a guy with a gun) in tow. So much easier to do the macho thing when there is someone who can call for backup if you get sick or injured. -

I'm putting my money on Mitchell and Maddie being partners in the serial killings; maybe it was their psychotic form of foreplay. Doesnt matter to me what Jack's motivations are or whether he knows what he is doing is wrong, I'd still never trust him around my own kid, or myself for that matter. -
UnREAL and Breaking Bad in the same sentence? SGS must be living in an alternate universe.

I've lived in and around Boston for the better part of 40 years and I can tell you that no one in the entire Commonwealth has an accent like the female police officer's. And curiously, she's the only one in the entire show who has an accent. Go figure. Maybe it's supposed to show her inner city roots? Oh well, I loved her in The Wire, so maybe she figured that since the writing and the plot kinda sucks, she'd do something outlandish just to keep it amusing for her own sanity. -
Frankly, it got to the point that the only thing I found entertaining throughout Season 2 was the way Quinn would reply to Everlasting's host's opening comments. That always made me laugh. The rest? Ugh! This show went from gold to shit in record time.

Darren and Steven have to stop acting like two hormonal teenagers fighting over who is going to ask the head cheerleader to the homecoming dance. I am finding this season of XL uninspired and kind of boring. -

That's why the first seasons of almost all reality shows are the best seasons, before the editors and producers understand how to manipulate the audience. It's like the show within the show UnREAL, wherein each season simply MUST be bigger, better and more dramatic than the last. One of the reasons I like The Last Alaskans is because most of it seems very organic. I also like Dual Survivor because I know going in that it is a set up and basically a primer on how to manage if you find yourself in a difficult survival situation. -

Candall, I like the way you think. The main reason David was able to outlast everyone was because he had a steady supply of food. If the others had as plentiful a supply, I dare say that they would have stayed. I got the feeling that Jose woke up every day thinking to himself that if he didn't catch anything THAT DAY, it was going to be enough of a reason to tap out. Nicole "hearing" her children is akin to the sign from God excuse. Your reasoning makes all the puzzle pieces fit, at least in my mind. -

I thought I saw a commercial during the show about season 3 and that it is somewhere other than Vancouver Island. I was fast forwarding through the breaks but I'm pretty sure there was something to that effect. -

It's a bad habit of mine to immediately estimate how much a cash prize will really be after paying taxes on it. I'm a bit of a realist, I guess. Effing Larry kept talking about winning and having enough money to sell their house. I couldn't really understand that, unless it meant that they were under water on it. -

I was glad when Larry realized that you have to be thankful for the little things in life and that how, when times get tough, you should focus on just how lucky you really are. That kind of attitude got me through some horrific health problems; the first time I had to walk past the children's cancer ward lounge in order to get to a doctor's appointment, seeing those heroic kids and their incredible parents and siblings brought that message home to me. Looks like Larry has a nice home, a family that loves him and his health. What he needs to do now is to find something in his life that he can be passionate about, maybe a hobby or teaching young children survival skills, just something that he finds meaningful. Yeah, he hates being an electrician, but I hope he can explore other opportunities that are fulfilling to him. Hopefully he has gotten rid of the anger and bitterness. That being said, I kind of missed the cursing.
