  1. re: Wesley Lowery #micdrop Joe knows full well that there is a huge difference between ordinary citizens being given an order (lawful, unlawful or dubious) by officers and members of the press (covered by that pesky 1st Amendment and the ACLU) covering an active story without interfering. What REALLY got my blood boiling was his saying that he would have chastised his own son by saying ,"Joey, you should have done what the nice police officers asked you to do [paraphrased]", and essentially left him in jail until the system worked it out. BULLSHIT, Joe would have been on the phone to ever crooked politician and sheriff that he has ever met, glad-handed and back-slapped in his travels and lives from the Florida Panhandle to MS, to AL, etc. to get his son out of jail. OK, he would have had an intern make the calls while he continued to sip his Starbucks then snapped his fingers and barked "Give me that damn phone....Well, hellooooooo, Sheriff {blank], been a while. Boy those people down in MO just don't understand law and order and the process..." ETA: No MTP for Joe and Mika!!! Chuck Toad to replace David Gregory.
  2. What's the over/under on how long it will be until Mika asks "Can we have a conversation?" about Ferguson, MO? And how many people will have called Joe with inside information and/or asking for his advice?

Mini-rant. Watching the W&S Open from Cincinnati. Earlier during the Murray (most boring player ever, IMO), he was referred to as "the Wimbledon Champion". NO, whichever dipshit announcer said this. He is A FORMER Wimbledon Champion; "The Wimbledon Champion" is now Novak Djokovic; Murray lost that distinction by not repeating his win this year and he was supplanted when ND won the title. Speaking of BORING-next-up (tomorrow), Murray/Isner. Hopefully they'll put it on as the last match of the night and I won't have to take a sleeping pill. It has been bothering me for some time but finally had to say something. They insist that the current Big 4 be the GOAT in/at something: Best Serve, Best Returner, Best Forehand/Backhand (one-handed/two-handed), Volley, etc.So during the post-match with Isner, Gimelstab said, "...next up against Andy Murray. Best Server( bolding by me) in the world, one of the best returners in the world." WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?! The ESPN crew must be serving Kool-Aid to their colleagues since they don't start broadcasting until tomorrow. Not an issue this week but J. McEnroe's contention that Nadal has the best volley in the game, although I don't think he has proclaimed that a GOAT designation also. That's not slurping, that's fellating.
  4. Most definitely NOT. Bond slept with all of the villianesses and not even Lazenby would sleep with Mika.
  5. In the latest false equivalency outrage, the Right/Fox News last night and this morning has been questioning why "The Media" is not covering the Gov. Andrew Cuomo integrity/ethics commission scandal. Sorry guys, you're late to the party. Rachel covered this about 3 weeks ago and did NOT spare Cuomo. I've never been that big a fan of his, although he did do a reasonably good job as NYAG based upon reports. I was also disappointed by his lack of involvement with Bridge-Gate after the reported call from Christie seemingly seeking his help in shutting down the initial problems within the NYPA before it hit the media.

So the 3 witches from Macbeth, I mean Chris, Pam and Mary Jo, were saying incantations over Serena's grave when she roared back to take 4 in a row, then the 1st set in a 7-1 tiebreaker. Take that Harpies and just call the match without your bitter editorializing.
  7. And Cackles showed up as a guest co-host on The View later in the morning. Maybe Mika should join Kathy Lee and Hode on Hour 4 of Today to drink and otherwise be irrelevant and incomprehensible, with apologies to Hode.
  8. Yikes. Hope everyone has their DVRs set; 20 minutes in and Joe just announced that Uncle Pat B is coming up and will be with them for the rest of the morning. No Mika, as of yet. Cackles is providing the estrogen on set this morning.
  9. I think he got off way too easy. When it started, I was thinking, "hHw stupid are you to start a fight with a bald-headed Black lesbian?" If it weren't for his henchman in the shadows, she would have kicked his ass. BAD. Which I was cheering for.
  10. Yes to all. I think I'm out. It's not that funny and it's killing me to have to read subtitles all night. Yes, Greg Poehler is horrible and the gf is a complete bitch (Can we talk about her roots?). Lena Olin cannot save this no matter how much I lust for her. OK, the old guy stuck in the elevator was funny.
  11. I had a window Saturday night and got to watch the rest of the episode; I was so disgusted last Sunday that I erased it about 10 minutes in and canceled the record order. Only confirmed my initial thoughts and feelings. I love Hank Azaria, both as a comedic actor (Mad About You and The Birdcage) and a dramatic actor (Huff, I hated that it only lasted 2 seasons). I is ironic that his Showtime series saddled him with a father not too dissimilar from Mickey Donovan. That said, I could not believe they would pull such a ham-fisted trope as setting up Bridget for pot possession. I can't decide which is more unbelievable: the fact that the FBI would somehow has "access" to use CHP or that a person deemed to be the next FBI Director would pull such a thug move on a teenage girl. Granted he is fighting against Ray and Mickey, et. al. but still. Like I said before: I'm out. The Eliot Gould "mystery" still intrigues me but not enough. Also an interesting turn that Avi was a thug of The Night Shift the past 2 weeks.
  12. Does anyone know if something happened to Colin Salmon, the actor playing General Coburn since the beginning of the day? I love the actor's work and found it interesting that they cast a Black man as Heller's traveling military adviser (not sure of his exact role) although a little peculiar that they cast an easily recognizable English actor for a season set in London. I wasn't sure when but it was obvious after watching the finale that he had been missing from the final few episodes, replaced seemingly by 2 white officers; I'm watching this hour again and Heller mentioned near the beginning that he was on his way to EuroComm. I checked and imdb has him listed in all episodes up to the 8-9PM hour. I just found it odd that such a high-profile actor would just "disappear" for the final 2 episodes unless there was some off-camera problem.
  13. Louis Litt is permanently off-book for all 37 Shakespeare plays?!? #Respect
  14. Let's get one thing straight: the sun is NOT out at 5:09AM in San Antonio, especially that high in the sky, even on the summer solstice-Minnesota, yes; Texas, no. Shit like that pisses me off.
  15. Yes, sugarbaker design, check out irisheyes' post above about Monday's show. There wasn't a great deal "said" but I got a very strong vibe of unspoken subtext (and maybe off-camera conversations) between the 2. I don't think I've seen it mentioned. From what undisclosed bunker (and for what reason) is Joe remotely broadcasting?
  16. I was coming here to say goodbye. I just can't any more and your husband pretty well summed it up, I think. I didn't even make it through the whole episode; I stopped, erased and canceled the series record when "Shane" from The L Word (can't remember her character's name) told the girl in the park that if she didn't go along with the story, they'd come back and shoot her again. I may go back and force myself to watch the episode but I think I'm out for good. Sorry, just can't think of one reason to stay, except the Elliott Gould "mystery" plotline but I don't know if they'll ever fully reveal that before he completely loses it. Is Showtime the home of really crappy parents: Nancy Botwin to Frank Gallagher now to Mickey Donovan? Did I miss anyone? I'm not counting The Borgias because they're at least based on real people/events. Now I need a "Silkwood shower" to get this out of my head. The really cynical part of my brain says that somewhere there must be a real Ray Donovan behind the scenes along with sleazy agents, managers, lawyers, studio execs, etc. doing the same thing we see on Sunday nights in order to get the show made itself and by watching/supporting, we enable the whole circus. Make that 2 "Silkwood showers".
  17. Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to whether Joe and Mika were proud or embarrassed the other morning when they both announced/admitted that neither of them scored anywhere near 1000 on the SAT, much lower of course? I wonder what Joe's LSAT score was.
  18. Rachel just did a 24 minute opening story about the history of hookers in Congress and the White House briefing room. She went all the way back to the early 70s, showed a piece from Tucker Carlson about David Vitter and generally went to the moon and back. I woke up with a bit of insomnia just before 3CDT but luckily she seemed to cure it for me. Oh yeah, the purpose of the story was to report on the latest news about the Sen. Bob Menendez story that Cuba was possibly involved. Thanks Rachel for putting me back to sleep.

You must be the only other person who watched besides me. At least that must be what ESPN thinks. Out of 9 hours of broadcasting on Saturday between ESPN and ABC, they showed approximately 55 minutes of new, live action. Granted the brutally short Women's Final wasn't their fault but the choice to not show neither the Women's nor Men's Doubles Finals was entirely their call, instead they chose to shunt them off to ESPN3. For most of matches, I only had 1 bar of video quality out of 5 and several times had to completely refresh the screen as the picture froze. One time it took 2.5 games to refresh; I went from 2-2 to 3-3 and 0-30 or something at a pivotal swing. And for what, the 5th or 6th replay of the Djokovic/Dmitrov match since Friday and the countless press conferences and talking head autopsies of the match-that's what ESPNClassic and ESPNNews are for respectively. ESPN(2) should be for live sports only with a few, very few, doses of Sports Center, primarily at night and overnight to recap the day. This is becoming like MTV not even showing music videos anymore. WTF!!! They even replayed the D/D match again on ABC. IMO, this ranks right up there with USA, et al not showing the Martina Navritilova/Bob? Bryan Mixed Doubles Finals from the USOpen about 10 years ago when she won for her final Major title. It seemed like we were getting upgraded as they moved primary coverage from the Deuce to the main channel and even gave us 3 channels (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNNews) a couple of days but at what cost. Unfortunately Tennis Channel's coverage has seemed to drift and become as ADD as ESPN with jumping from court to court and never showing a full match. Today's match was good and hard fought but not "great" IMO. Obviously I would rather have had the alternate outcome. But still damn proud to be a #FedFan. Now just need my new racket.
  20. I knew that he looked awfully familiar but didn't remember that Lee Pace had been Ned in Pushing Daisies (regular viewer and miss it dearly) until I looked up his imbd tonight out of curiosity. But more importantly, I NEVER would have guessed that he/"she" was also Calpernia Addams from "Soldier Girl". WOW!!! Mind blown. He was a fine woman.
  21. I was thinking the same thing as Jack was running through the subway station and no one seemed to care or even notice. WTF? I agree with kariyaki if that is the scene where she gets the M-16 from the police car in that neighborhood scene; I forget the set-up and overall storyline at the moment.

It was a long drawn out reveal but I found the most damning part. GIve me the night and I'll try to compile some of the best lines for you to weigh in on.\ An hour or so later there were 3 statements released through the WTA: 1 from Venus, a 2nd from Serena which they characterized as a "partial" statement (as if she didn't finish it?) and a 3rd from the WTA itself; al the statements essentially said she has/had some "bug"/virus. yada yada

I'm #TeamFederer #RideorDie. Beyond that, any of the 4 in the bottom half can win as far as I'm concerned and I'm all in with Dimitrov in the top half of the draw. Federer/Dimitrov would be my dream final although Dimitrov/Kyrgios or Raonic would definitely be a next-generation calling card. Wilson has slowly been rolling out a Facebook ad campaign (probably on other social media also) for Federer's new racquet; I would expect a REALLY big ad buy at the last minute should he make the finals, then an all-out marketing blitz through the summer to the USOpen should he win. And me in need of replacing my very old Ultra FPK.

Sharapova AND Nadal out; I'm ecstatic. Just noticing first a big black man in a dark suit, now a 2nd burly guy in a suit. Nadal security? This is in addition to what appear to be British military around the court. As for Serena, I have no idea. And no one else does which is why I'm beyond furious at the (mostly female-BITCHES!!!) commentators at ESPN for immediately questioning whether it is drugs. Fuck every one of you has-been/never-were bitches. (Forgive me community but HOW MANY Majors did MJF win? And the blonde chick with her?) Now if the mandatory drug tests show something positive, report it then but don't slander a great champion with NO history or proof, especially in real time when no one, not en her sister siting next to her, family and entourage, medical personnel examining here on-court or tournament officials, knows what is going on. They mentioned that she often "disappears" after a hard loss and hadn't been seen by her BF/Coach since Saturday. Did anybody think that while she has been hiding out for 3 days, she might also not have been eating? I will admit that I do too far during times of stress, depression, tumult, etc. and can get VERY loopy and spaced out, sometimes even delirious, to the point of almost passing out and needing to sit down immediately on the ground where ever I am. Someone did mention low blood sugar. I hope she sues every last one of them AND ESPN. If nothing else, maybe she'll get us better coverage and get a few announcers fired.
  25. Another possible Bauer family link is that Jack's nephew grew up to blame his uncle, inherited the organization and has been plotting Jack's demise from the shadows for years and now multiple plans have collided.
