Ah, Cary Elwes! Love him! I liked all the bits for this episode, too. I'm still laughing about the dinner one -- "So if we love pets, you could call us pet-ophiles, right?" "I don't think we'll call you that." 45 minutes! Too funny. The lesbian bar story was my second fave.

I had no clue for FJ, and said France. I figured England was too obvious. I really wanted to like Allison when she was first introduced, since I have been a research microbiologist, too, but then she went and started at the second clue down. What really ruined her for me, though, was her admiration of the movie "Outbreak". The science in that movie is so so bad. So it doesn't hurt my feelings that she lost. TS I got include The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (which was a surprising TS!) and 3 Musketeers.

I know I wouldn't have. Master of Ceremonies led me immediately to Cabaret.
-
For FJ tonight, I first said Alan Cumming, the most recent MC for Cabaret on Broadway, but then I paid attention to the clue and managed to come up with Joel Grey in time. I got haggis, but in no way would I call it pudding.

Had you been able to pay better attention, you likely would have been as astonished as I was when the woman guessed Fankfort as the capital of Ohio. There was even a map with a star in Ohio indicating which city they wanted. I'm still rolling my eyes over that one.

I got oleander and the missed DD of Enterprise. I would have thought that Gene Roddenberry and the Enterprise were part of common cultural knowledge, even if you aren't into sci-fi. Kind of like knowing Aida is set in Egypt. FJ was an instaget for me, too.

Thanks, @CarpeDiem54! I'm not sorry I wasn't able to watch, though I would have liked to have seen Michael's and Alec's heads explode when they lost. Are we back to regular games tomorrow, or is it another tourney?
-
Alan Alda would be good, too, except he'd probably pick that horrible dream episode.
-
Thanks, @CarpeDiem54! I came here hoping that Sharath had won tonight. Glad to learn that Michael lost everything, too. What was FJ?

Google images of baby echidnas (also known as puggles)... Looks like a niffler to me!

Oh, do re-read it! If you like clever puns and wordplay, you'll still like the book. -

I love Harriet the Spy and also The Phantom Tollbooth. -
I wouldn't mind living in that suitcase, either.

Colin Farrell was good, but he reminded me an awful lot of Albert Runcorn in Deathly Hallows Part 1. Because of that, I just assumed he was evil, although I didn't twig to how evil until near the end of the movie. I think Eddie Redmayne's choice of not looking Credence in the eye was a good one. To me, it signified that Newt was actually there to help instead of to try to overpower. Not making eye contact can be interpreted as friendly, even submissive, and IMO, that was a good tack to take with Credence. Which I want to spell Creedence, thank you Creedence Clearwater Revival. And a side note -- I was sorted into Thunderbird for my Ilvermorney house at Pottermore!

Ugh. What a horrible group for the finals. Let me know who wins, 'kay? Because I don't think I can bear to watch.

I saw this this afternoon, and I liked it well enough. I thought it was a tad slow getting started, but once it got going, it was much better. LOVED the niffler! And hooray for the bowtruckle! In fact, hooray for all the fantastic beasts we met. I hope Frank (?) made it back to Arizona. For a flying creature such as he was, getting from NYC to Arizona shouldn't take too long, assuming he doesn't make a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

The Great Indoors - General Discussion
Browncoat replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Great Indoors
The best part was the over-caffeinated girl. When she crashed in the coffee shop, I watched her instead of Jack and whats-her-name. And I watched her in the bar, too. It might look easy to lie motionless like that until your cue, but it really takes effort. She did a great job. Still, I'm kind of watching this show out of laziness. Or boredom. It's okay, but nothing special. -
S10.E09: "The Geology Elevation"
Browncoat replied to TheOtherOne's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
Oh, yes! I loved the Kripke cameo. -
OMG, you're right, @CarpeDiem54! Matt Jackson is exactly who Alec reminds me of! I just couldn't figure out what annoyed me so much about him, but that's it! Thanks!

I am apparently an evil, evil person. I laughed like a hyena at the remote-controlled Stephen Hawking. And totally loved Hawking's cameo at the end.- 71 replies

I think Emily said "auto-complete" when the judges were looking for "auto-correct" -- either answer fit the clue. I don't remember what Connor's answer was.
-
I couldn't understand why she was ruled wrong in the first place, either. Good on her for making that a true daily double -- only one moves on from this round, might as well be bold. Connor looked like he was about to give himself a hernia with the buzzer. I also said Vatican City for FJ, even though I knew it was wrong.
-
Oooh, I forgot the Mary Antoinette thing -- Lucia definitely should have been dinged for that.
-
I have never read Lord of the Flies. I know the basic story, but would never in a million years have come up with one of the characters (or known what his last line was). I was happy to see that Sharath knew A Wrinkle In Time, though! One of my most favorite books ever.
-
I had to record tonight's game, and I'm trying to watch now. It's almost unbearable with all the not starting at the tops of the categories. I did feel a little bad for Jasmine, though. She just couldn't seem to get the hang of the buzzer. Took me a bit, but I did finally get FJ -- not sure if I would have had time to write it down.
