Right. Phil is in the art team and was the one who threatened to sue due to age discrimination after which Carol hired the two testers with whom she subsequently had relations with.

Well I, for one, have to say Bravo to the actors. I was in suspense the whole time. Hated Catherine for 90% of the series, as intended, then hated Robert and Stephen with even more vigor in the end. Felt for poor Nicolas who supposedly doesn't remember anything but happens to be an addict. I mean, this was 10 times better than Presumed Innocent. I truly enjoyed it. Off to go read about the parts of the book that clue in to Jonathan's underlying signs of depravity.

S02.E08: Shadow and Flame
Phillygurl replied to paulvdb's topic in The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power
Casual viewer here. Yes, I have watched the movies but only once each so I may be one of the more ignorant board member here. Even I knew who the stranger was by like episode 4 of the first season. They hit us over the head with it given his friendship with the Harfoots I really did not like Galadriel. Even before she found out about Sauron and neglected to tell anyone. I just found her haughty and unlikeable. So I was relieved this season had less of her. It made the moments where she was featured significantly more tolerable and enjoyable. I have to say I enjoyed this season. I had a lot of trouble with Sauron/Celebrimbor scenes just because they were very well acted and quite believable. I also love the dwarves. The movies are a bit of a blur to me but I don't remember the dwarves being featured very much and honestly I see them as my favorite. They're proud and hardworking. Strong allies to have. I have watched the first scene of episode 8 multiple times now. It still tears me up. I like Numenor as well. Even though Pharazon is a jerk and his kid is gross, it's such a watchable story line from my perspective. As for Isildur, I almost dislike him as much as I disliked Galadriel in season one. He seems like a spoiled brat and then he finally gets his adventure that he wanted so badly he uses it to fall in love with literally the first girl he sees? I don't even understand what kind of bond he built with Theo. I hope next season they flash forward to Theo being an adult and a decidedly more interesting character. Oh yeah and wasn't that so awkward where Isildur is openly declaring he is bringing that woman with her fiancé right there??? Like she couldn't have done her fiancé the simple courtesy of ending their engagement first? I dunno I know there Is limited screen time but this seemed very wrong to me. Lastly Arondir! Love him. Even though he basically magically healed, I'm okay with it. But shouldn't he be promoted at this point? I mean Galadriel has seen first hand what he is capable of. He should get his own army to lead at the very least. One of the better/more satisfying finales I have watched this season. -
S02.E06: Where Is He?
Phillygurl replied to AnimeMania's topic in The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power
My favorite storylines in order are 1) Anything with Khazad Dum. I love the music they play anytime we are there 2) Numenor. I actually buy Elendil and Muriel more than any other pairing save Disa and Duran 3) Nori/Poppy/Stranger. The storyline is weird but I could literally watch a Poppy and Nori go on adventures spin off and be totally content. The elves are annoying to me because they seem so arrogant. They keep making silly mistakes and yet they're the superior race??? Sauron, I just don't like the blond to be honest. And his manipulation of people gives narcissistic abuse which is hard for me to watch. Adar as the good baddie... I'm not buying it and I can't/won't root for him. All in all, I do feel like it Is moving forward at enough of a clip for me to find enjoyable.- 33 replies

Unfortunately the series is just a shell of what it once was. There are a few bright spots: Ruth, Oz, Roche, Till but honestly this was quite a disappointing season. The absence of Melanie for the majority of the season certainly did them no favors. I don't understand why all these soldiers would just mindlessly follow Milius and Nima as they were the subject of experimentation. And the previous admiral down on level 3? I feel like they could have given her a more prominent role to make up for Melanie's absence. Then we have Haywood experimenting on a defenseless baby??? That seems like bridge too far and has seemingly been swept under the rug. There is just so much that has been brushed over to try and bring us to a hasty conclusion of this series. I guess it's fine because we all know this is the end but still I wish it could stronger than this.

I was sad that Montmerency died but because Catherine couldn't allow Edith to live, he had to go. He really was a man of principle. He should have never returned to court. As for Alessandro, I was never really invested in him or his storyline with Rahima. So funny how quick she is to say they're now related due to a child when there is no marriage or proof of paternity but yep the kid is a Medici. Catherine went to extremes and sent Anjou totally over the edge. All she wanted was peace for France but they couldn't let her have that. Now they all must burn. Only 3 children left at this point.

S02.E03: The Eagle and the Sceptre
Phillygurl replied to paulvdb's topic in The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power
Hmm Theo and Arondir do not appear to have the same skin color. One is caramel while the other is olive. I don't think Arondir is the father, at least I hope not because he doesn't seem like he is the type of guy to have a kid and not claim him. If this is what they are going for then they should have had him show much more interest in Theo before. Also, why would Bronwyn have thanked Arondir for saving Theo if he is their son. If they go this route, I don't think they laid the appropriate ground work for this and it likely won't land well. I didn't watch the episodes all together, I stretched them out over 2 nights but honestly I should have watched together because the 3rd episode shouldn't have been a stand alone. It's extremely grating to me that Galadriel and Elrond are taking their sweet time going to Eregion given the stakes. The first season was definitely more watchable. I feel like this season there are just far too many characters to keep track of especially since they are in 7 different locations. Last season at least they seemed to focus only on 3-4 locals at a time. We would see Khazad Dum when Elrond was there. Numenor when Galadriel was there. Now even the Orcs and Lord Father are even being given more screen time. It just feels like they are trying to do too much. -
What did I just watch? I thought I was watching House of the Dragon season 2 but why do I feel like I just watched The Bear Season 3? I jest... this season was much more satisfying than the Bear season 3 but still there is a lot of getting ready to get ready to go to war. But I'm okay with it because this show has so much that pulls me in and keeps me watching so sure, let's savor it a little. I am also very anti-Ulf as he just seems to make Jace's point all the more true. He has a Dragon and he's acting like he is royalty. He does know they can still throw him in prison or hang him right?

So against my better judgement I went back to finish the series and as I suspected, it was an utter disappointment. I agree with all of the above. I just hopped on to add... all those sex scenes with Rusty and Carolyn and we couldn't get just one of Barbara having revenge sex with the hot bartender? Also, in what world do you hear over and over how obsessed and in love your husband was with another woman, how he impregnated her, wanted to spend his life with her, texted her 30 times in a day and all of this knowledge is aired for everyone and their mother to google and you NOT leave him??? This felt to false to me.

Well I'm here because I am unhappy 😤 I have no problem with character development or even the real life chefs telling their stories nor do I have problem watching an entire episode where Nat is in labor. However, it feels like there was space to move the plot along and they just chose not to for 10 episodes. Yes plenty of shows end their seasons with cliffhangers but they could have tied up at least one major plot point. Just one. Carmy hasn't even had a conversation with Claire since the freezer. Syd isn't really talking to anyone at all about the offer or how she is feeling. The bear, we haven't even gotten to see much of how their nights are going or what they're serving, etc. No discussion between Carmy and Syd about how he has completely cut her out of decisions regarding the menu. Like really it just feels like a bunch of people living their individual lives, feeling their feelings and refusing to talk about it. One thing I felt made this show great were the conversations. They way they would be real with one another even if it resulted in a fight. It felt like that connection was missing. The only 2 great moments with conversation I could think of in the entire season was 1) Tina and Mikey in Napkins 2)Nat and her Mom in Ice Chips. I guess I just feel let down and I'm not even someone who waited months for this season... I just got into this show last week so I can only imagine how let down people may feel who have been anticipating the show over a long time. Ok, rant over. Thanks for reading.

Okay this may be beside the point but what is Amanda's end game? I mean her Jason dumped her in the most cold and callous way to go back and insert himself into a version of reality where he never dumped the love of his life and this Jason is married to that exact same woman. Meanwhile she is hopping from world to world following this man. What is in it for her? Does she want to find her Jason? Or is she just along for the ride until she finds a solution to her problem(not being able to go back to her own world?) It would be nice to give this educated attractive woman some character motivation rather than her being just a sidekick with no actual goals of her own. Hopefully the show will develop her a bit more in the coming episodes.

I feel like "respectable man being outed as a cheating scoundrel and mistress ending up murdered" has been done to death (no pun Intended). I don't really see anything unique or special with this one so I'm thinking of just opting out unless I hear good things about the ending.

S01.E08: The Case of the Hungry Snake
Phillygurl replied to AnimeMania's topic in Dead Boy Detectives
I generally enjoyed the show. I really like the Edwin character. I think he was well portrayed. I did think the witch was over the top, I'm glad she is gone. I didn't really like the "will they, won't they" trope between Charles and Crystal. I like them separately but not together for some reason. I hope it does get renewed and they find a way to link it more heavily with Sandman. -
Yes it's 2024 and yes I am just getting to Billions season 4 episode 4 lol SO I know there is a very low likelihood of this post getting read but I had to say... WTF? I can't believe Chuck would out Wendy like that. I have spent the past few episodes feeling bad for Chuck wondering why Connerty and Sacker are out for blood and then he pulls this stunt. As others have said, I don't care what Chuck is into. I care that he outed a person WITHOUT her consent. Furthermore, this is an act she performs for his benefit. Then he had the nerve to yell back at her when she confronted him instead of being contrite as he should have been. This demonstrates a complete lack of respect for his partner. Just at a chance to win a political position. He could have just waited until Jack Foley croaked. Instead he put his wife's career in jeopardy not to mention she has to deal with the humiliation of being looked at by everyone she knows as a dominatrix. Again, it's HIS kink she has consented to for HIS pleasure now she is the one feeling humiliated. Unfortunately, being a physician is not just what you do, it is who you are. It's an identity. And while what you do in the confines of your own home shouldn't matter, it unfortunately would be seen in a different light than as it would for a male politician. I am done with Chuck. I hope Wendy leaves him. Win at all costs. Well the cost should be your marriage at this point.

S01.E05: Five Miles Out, The Sound Is Clearest
Phillygurl replied to AnimeMania's topic in Constellation
Lol I came here hoping for someone to explain to me what is going on 🤣 I mean I get the overall idea she encountered something up there and somehow she is a mirrored version of herself... and maybe she returned to the wrong version of reality. And in the other reality she is the one that's dead and Paul is alive? Or at least that's what I think is happening lol. Are they insinuating that some of these astronauts who go up there get swapped with a mirror version of themselves? And why is Jo so fixated on the dead cosmonaut? I'm left with more questions than answers at this point. Oh great, now I'm looking forward and seeing only 1 more episode and then I have to wait more weeks for answers? I don't know if I have the patience.
