The 1972 Munich Olympics was the last time a Romanian women's team did not qualify for team finals in a World Championships or an Olympics. They'll still get to Rio. Just a really bad day at the office, and it'll take longer this time. How ridiculous is Simone Biles? Her margin over 2nd place Steingruber in qualification is just under 4 points. That's higher than Steingruber's margin over the next 40 AA participants combined. In an era where specialization is becoming the norm, it's refreshing to have someone who can be a contender on any apparatus. Great to see the Netherlands sneak into finals. I don't think they have the difficulty to challenge for a medal, but with the finals format, anything can happen. Of course, everyone is fighting for second behind the US at this point. It would take an epic collapse by the US for either Russia or China to take gold.

The sit down on the vault happened at the 93 Worlds. In 94 she over-rotated her vault and fell forward.

I actually thought the Bengals were going to lose going in because of all the years of disappointment they've heaped on us. Yeah, I'm still recovering from the decade of suck. After the 3rd quarter, I almost shut it off because I thought things were only going to get worse. But I'm glad I didn't, because that 4th quarter was awesome. The sad thing is, no matter how well the Bengals play, there is a small section of the fanbase that will never stop wanting Lewis fired. They could win the Super Bowl and some will still call for his head. It sucks having to listen to some of my more obnoxious relatives completely ignore all the good and just bitch and moan about what a shitty coach he is and why can't we get this guy or that guy instead.

I'm still trying to decide if the result between the Bengals and the Seahawks was due to the Seahawks imploding in the 4th quarter or the Bengals taking 3 quarters to get their shit in order.

It's Villa. They find ways to lose that I never knew existed. They always find a way to do just enough to escape relegation, but I think their luck will run out this year.
-
Chelsea is lucky their next fixture is against Villa, because they'll win that one easily. But until then, I'm going to enjoy watching them get torn apart by the media.

After all the years of emotional scars that the Bengals have inflicted on their fans, we deserve some success. But I know we'll never win a playoff game with Dalton. The guy does just fine in normal circumstances, but the second the spotlight gets anywhere near him, he chokes worse than Romo.

Season One: The Year of the Freak-of-the-Week
Elsydeon replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Smallville [V]
Ah, Season 1, when things were fresh and yet to be tainted by fake babies and retcons for the sake of mythos. I'm actually running through a re-watch of all the seasons right now. While the freak of the week was formulaic, I've noticed it's a formula that a lot of shows in this genre have done in their early seasons. Instead of focusing on some big mystery right away, the writers will have a problem that can be solved in one episode and will use that framework to flesh out their characters, and then once the characters are established, use their personalities and backstories to create longer story arcs down the road. And while some of the meteor-infected powers were lame, it didn't bother me too much. Craving is one of the worst of this season, but the scene at the end with Clark and Lana is one of their better scenes, not just in the season, but in the series. I'm not a Clana shipper at all, but the scenes between them early on before the secrets and lies crap were nice. Their yelling in the sky at the end of Hothead was a good one as well. Too bad the writers had to bring in unnecessary drama to ruin everything. Top 5 eps: Pilot, Hourglass, Rogue, Leech, and the Chlark Trilogy (yes, it's cheating, but they all have to go together) Bottom 5 eps: Metamorphosis, X-Ray, Craving, Shimmer, and Reaper -
Yep, the men still suck. This is downright painful.

I am just in awe of Biles. She might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think she's fantastic. Even with some rather unusual mistakes, she flat out dominated. No one in the US can come close to her right now. I also can't wait to see what the rest of the world has to offer at the Worlds in October. It'll be great to see what new faces we get to watch for the Olympics next year.

I don't think it's quite as bad as scoring an OG in stoppage time in a WC semifinal like England did, but it's a close second.
-
Eh. They were playing a team that got wrecked by defections. This game doesn't mean anything other than advancement.
-
The men are so up and down. They can look great against a top class side like Germany one game, then turn around and suck against a lower ranked side like Honduras the next. And that backline? Yikes. It's a complete difference from the the brick wall that the women currently have. I'll admit it's hard for me to see one US team kicking ass and then go to a US team that is rather blah.

This whole Delph situation just pisses me off. I'm not mad at Man City for buying him. That's business. It happens all the time. What got me so upset was him saying more than once that he was staying and what an honor it was to be skippering his club, only to change his mind the way he did and call it an emotional decision. Bullshit, Fabian. It was all about the money.

I swore that I would never get a console more advanced than the Wii- which I got for free, btw. That changed the second I found out what FIFA 16 is introducing. Time to save the pennies for a PS4, just so I can play that. And after skipping a generation of Pokemon, I bit the bullet and got Pokemon X. And OMG, it's so much better than before. The changes that were introduced, the upgrade in graphics, just everything about it is a huge improvement.

We already have a sport called football, even though very few of them actually touch the ball with their feet.
-
Arsenal got themselves into that situation by bombing on the first leg. I don't feel bad for them in the slightest.
-
That PSG-Chelsea ref was abysmal. But PSG were the better team, so it's only fair they move on.
-
Well, she's only known Shelby as the bumbling waitress, so it's not that surprising. It seems like Shelby is going to have to earn Kendall's respect, and I hope they do it properly.

I much prefer KH II to KH I because KH I had too much of the collecting thing. I don't mind it in smaller doses, because it encourages exploration and the like, but it was just a bit too much for me. And the combat felt smoother in KH II, which does make sense from both the gameplay and story perspective. A bit heavy on the minigames, but most of them were short and a good break from the item farming. The others were okay games, I guess, even though I haven't played Dream Drop Distance or Birth By Sleep yet.

The WNT fucking sucks right now. And I place 99% of the blame for that on Ellis and her at best questionable tactics.
-
Just finished watching the premiere, and yeah, it was much improved from the crap that has been the Neo Saban Era thus far. I think we got more character development in one episode than the entirety of Megaforce/Super Megaforce. I'm cautiously optimistic for this series.

Considering what they've drawn for lower level soccer, It's easy to see why it would be an attractive market for MLS.
-
Yes, and it wasn't even a week after she got the DV charges dismissed. She just can't stay out of trouble, and now the team is faced with the possibility of having to start a very inexperienced keeper in June because of her nonsense. But some of the blame for that has to be laid at the feet of the coaches who kept playing her in meaningless friendlies instead of giving others some time in goal.
-
I am so done with Hope Solo's bullshit. I don't give a shit how good she is, her antics are just a distraction at this point. Wearing the NT jersey is a privlege that she seems to think she's entitled to, and it's time to move on to a keeper that doesn't have those issues.
