  1. Did Phyllis really say that Sharon pushed her down the stairs? The audience was shown two versions of that scene- one with MS and the other with GT; in both versions, it was clear that Phyllis slipped and fell. I'm wondering if MS ad-libbed this line or if JG just can't be bothered to review the old tapes of the show.
  2. Bringing in relatives of current characters is an old soap trope, but it requires good storytelling. Years ago when Mamie was living and working in the the Abbott house, she had close relationships with Jack and Ashley (Billy was a still a child), but she was also close with her neices Dru and Olivia. When they brought Mamie back, I assumed she would have her own storyline, but also be the matriarch of the Barbers/Winters family. Lily, Nate, and Devon (I think she had already left town when he first met the Winters family) have no parental figures or other relatives in Genoa City, so I felt Mamie could step into that role. Instead, JG wrote a ridiculous story for her, and completely undermined her history on the show by having those kids refer to her as "Mamie", instead of "Aunt Mamie" if you know, you know.
  3. Can someone please let me know if I'm wrong, but isn't this stupid ass storyline based on revisionist history? I'm really tired of Phyllis saying that Sharon hates Daniel because if what happened with Cassie which is why she lashed out against Heather and Lucy and ultimately killed Heather(allegedy). This was not true. Josh Griffith needs to go back and rewatch the old episodes after Cassie's accident. IIRC, Sharon was angry at Daniel before she the truth about the accident came out. It was Nick who hated Daniel and chased him (with Phyllis in tow) across the country and also concealed evidence that that ultimately proved Daniel was not at fault for Cassie's death. In fact, it was Sharon was the one who convinced Nick to turn over the evidence that cleared Daniel. Over the years, whenever Daniel would pay a visit back to Genoa City and bump into Sharon, their scenes together would always acknowledge the sadness they still shared over what happened with Cassie, but it was there never any unpleasantness. Now in 2024, for JG to decide use Cassie's death (which was so well written) as a catalyst for Heather's murder really shows his lack of creativity as a writer. I'm sick of the plot holes and other characters being written as incompetent (like Chance and possibly now Christine) just to make Phyllis seem like the smartest person in Genoa City and the only one who can clear Daniel's name, because in addition to being the greatest Mom who has ever existed, she's also a gifted detective, whose skills are unmatched. Her behavior is so cringeworthy and obnoxious that it makes this already horribly written storyline seem 10 times worse.
  4. Why are we being subjected to this Heather's murder story? What was the point of killing her off? Someone needs to tell Josh Griffith that if he wants to kill a character off unnecessarily, then then he needs to make sure the writing is top notch and not this dumpster fire of ridiculous plot holes, terrible pacing and worst of all, way too much Phyllis. It feels like MAB is ghostwriting this garbage.
  5. Damn. I can't believe that both of Paul's children are dead. First Ricky, now Heather. I guess the writers really don’t care about legacy characters.
  6. I think Phyllis is the one influencing Summer's obsession with Audra. Though it was a bit odd when she said Audra had no problem sleeping with Kyle when he was still married to Summer. Can you say hypocrite? Phyllis has never had a problem trying to seduce a married man(Danny) or carrying on a tawdry affair with a married man(Nick). It must be hard for Phyllis to see Summer have to deal with women like Tara and Audra, when she herself was once the "Tara" and the "Audra" in Christine and Sharon's lives, respectively. I guess it's true what they say- game recognizes game.
  7. On today's Canadian show, we find out that Summer adopted Harrison while they were living in Italy. WTF?! If Summer is indeed Harrison's adoptive mother, that means Tara would've had her parental rights terminated? How did that happen? Also, why would Kyle keep bringing up the fact that Summer is not Harrison's biological mother whenever she threatens to sue him for sole custody? As the adoptive parent, doesn't Summer have the same legal rights to Harrison as Kyle, the biological parent even though they are now divorced? The storyline is makes absolutely no sense. Josh Griffith has clearly been reading the message boards and is trying to retcon his way out of this mess.
  8. ICAM. We've seen the Newman's embrace a child, who was not a Newman blood- Cassie, and also Johnny, but this situation with Harrison feels very different. With Cassie, we saw how after Nick adopted her, she became a Newman, there was no doubt she was part of that family, especially how they rallied around Sharon and Nick after Cassie's accident and how devasted they were after she died. Even in the aftermath of her death, it was more about Nick (her adoptive father) and the overwhelming guilt he felt, instead of focusing on how he and Sharon both lost a child. Summer's relationship with Harrison always came off as stepmother/stepchild to me and now he is just her ex-husband's son. As others have said, listening to the Newmans and their "concern" over Summerson, I mean Harrison being missing comes off as disingenuous. The Newmans only care about finding Claire.
  9. Let me be clear, IMO of this episode is based on the fact that I actually sat through the entire thing. I rarely post about the show anymore because I find it for the most part, unwatchable. So, compared to what I usually see, I felt this was probably the best episode I've seen in a long time, especially for something that JG wrote. Was it perfect? No. Did I think Summer went way too far going off blaming Claire? Yes. But, her mother is Phyllis, so doing the most is in her DNA. Also, her constantly referring to Harrison as her son, needs to stop immediately. I'm glad Victoria addressed it. Everyone reacted to Claire and Harrison being missing exactly as I thought they would, and Victoria showed remarkable restraint by not losing her shit on Summer. I know the bar is set low, but I thought comparatively speaking, I thought this episode was well done. <Shrug>
  10. I'm in Canada, so I've already seen Tuesday's US episode. To all the US viewers on here, I strongly encourage you to watch the show today, it was IMO, one of the best episodes of the show in a very long time. I'm not a fan of Josh Griffith, but I must give credit where credit is due. He was credited as writer for this episode along with Amanda L. Beall, Jeff Beldner, and Marin Gazzaniga. Bravo to all of them, as well as the actors- IMO, this episode was worthy of an Emmy submission.
  11. IMO, this was one of the best episodes of Y&R in years. The writing was amazing and all the actors brought their A game. I understand that Summer was distraught over Harrison being missing, but still rolled my eyes everytime she referred to him as her son, I don't know why. I was glad when Victoria reminded Summer that Harrison was once her step-son (through her marriage to Ashton) before he became hers.
  12. The same thing you would about Nick, said daughter's father, who is the one that cheated, but kept it a secret knowing it would blow up his family (again). IIRC, Sharon found out about Nick and Phyllis from Mariah on the day of the wedding and agonized about whether or not she should go through with it. When Sharon told Nick she couldn't marry him, Tessa took Faith out of the room. Also, Phyllis was not some random woman who Nick had a one-night stand with, she is the woman who had tawdry after with Nick after he and Sharon lost their child. There's a long and painful history there. Say what you want about how Sharon handled the situation, but Nick is also Faith's parent and hurt her (and his family) by choosing to keeping the ONS with Phyllis a secret.
  13. I agree with what you're saying, but we're watching this storyline happen with Chelsea and Billy- a "romance" between a rapist and her victim. This is the second time they tried to sell these two as a legit couple- the last time it ended badly, but JG clearly doesn't give a shit about what the audience thinks. Also, let's not forget that he fired the entire writing staff, so there's no one there to object to his asinine storyline ideas.
  14. I remember watching this when it first aired 20 years ago, Sharon left her family (in real life SC had left the show after contract negotiations broke down) and to say that Shick was not in a good place when she left would be an understatement. She came back to town after a few months and reconciled with Nick, then Cameron showed up in Genoa City. She'd met him in a bar a few months before- she was drunk and slept with him and then he beat the shit out of her after. IIRC, he showed up in town to do a project at Newman, which was not a coincidence and proceeded to make her life a living hell. He was always threatening to tell Nick about what had happened between them in Denver (the sex part, but not the part where he beat her up). She met him at that motel to convince to leave her alone and that's when turned abusive again and tried to rape her, which why she hit him over the head with the champagne bottle. I remember Cameron Kirsten was a villain, but watching those flashbacks reminded me of how creepy and sick he was. Josh Griffith must be thrilled that Linden Ashby agreed to come back because Cameron Kirsten is a vile piece of shit- violence against women, attempted rape, murder- he's done it all. Let's see what Josh has him do this time around.
