  1. If we see a Jamie / Eddie wedding, I hope we see a return of the couple from Long Island who had their reception ruined by the Jamie/Eddie/other dude jealousy shenanigans. With lots of "I told you so"s. Jamie and Eddie should turn over the wedding cake to the Long Island couple -- they are owed an intact wedding cake and toasts! (It was SOOO not OK to destroy that couple's wedding reception -- not an adorable, cute couple moment at all. We should have seen that groom making a scene, calling Jamie a former friend)
  2. Monica was Erin's sometime-boss, the woman who died in her arms. I'll miss her, too. I like the actor's voice, smooth and low.
  3. I cringed during the exchange of vows at the dinner table. Eek. It's OK with me, and true-to-life, for the male and female cop to fall in love and decide to get married. It will not be OK with me, at all, if they remain partners next season. Talk about special treatment for the son of the PC! No matter if it is a written rule or not, the entire department would be up in arms if Jamie is allowed to get engaged to Eddie and continue being her partner. The writers need to get creative to keep the stories for both Eddie and Jamie interesting without blatantly throwing all rules and common sense and command judgement out the window. Maybe Eddie gets pregnant right away, so Sid brings her to One PP to be his assistant for a season, and she does some creative internet research that helps save the day on a tough case, and she makes detective. Jamie could get promoted to sergeant, and spend a season street-training a couple of rookies. There will be plenty of time at Sunday dinners for Jamie and Eddie to coo like lovebirds.
  4. I'm so tired of the Eddie and Jamie. Just ask for different partners and start dating. No, Jamie should not tell Eddie his feelings while they are still work partners, Erin. And especially not in the precinct at their desks. The woman who plays the mayor has an annoying voice, not easy to understand. I can't believe she has a career as an actor. The mayor totally deserved to see the backs of the cops. I enjoyed the Danny story of resolving the 153-day-old murder case. The last scene with the grieving Mom was special.
  5. Footprints in the sand was so very stupid -- if the ship can see footprints, it can see the captain and first officer. Klingons were so deadly dull. So slooooow. I'm not sure I want to continue with our main character, after she nerve pinched her captain. So un-StarTrek. Thanks to everyone who has mentioned The Orville. I watched an episode, it definitely feels more like old time Star Trek than STD does. I have a slow Internet connection, I can't even stream youtube videos. Maybe I'll watch the series if it comes out in DVD.
  6. Really hope that's not the last time we see Alan as a pro. I've liked him since So You Think You Can Dance. Disappointed that he left so soon.
  7. If it was up to me, Erika and Gleb would be first out. That 'song' was annoying and kinda disgusting. Send her home to play with her money and her expensive toys and get her off my favorite show. I see nothing redeeming about this greedy woman. I might fast forward through their segment next week, they were that unpleasant.
  8. JR Martinez remains the first disabled winner of DWTS; Nyle is the second. Erin's dress was terrible. So many beautiful ball gowns in LA, and that's the one they picked for her to wear for the finale. I laughed at the Von, Lindsey, and Witney quiz show. Good fun. I'll miss Mark if he doesn't return to the show. I'm a fan of his creativity and imagination. His Austin Powers dance with Paige is my favorite routine of this season -- I'm a sucker for quirky, funky, silly comedy routines. If he leaves to focus on his music career, I wish him great success. Hope Artem gets a good partner next season. I'd like to see a lot more of him. Yumm. Don't go away mad, Maks. Just go away!
  9. Three contemporary dances, when Contemporary is my least favorite dance form, means it was a pretty mediocre night for me. Still hoping Paige and Mark win the trophy. The show's been around so long that certain songs are reused. I couldn't help comparing Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Paige, Mark, and BCJean with this one by Dmitry, Chelsie, and Jewel from season 8: I miss Dmitry and Chelsie. I'd be happy to see them return as pros.
  10. I feel the same. I talked to my Dad about this a little bit. He said he had watched a MMA fight a few years ago, to see what it is about, and he couldn't believe it is legal. Seriously could not believe it's legal for people to do that to one another. I read up on MMA, too: In Ireland a few weeks ago, a crowd watched and cheered as one man beat another to death (he died a couple of days after the fight, having been in intensive care, but they were unable to save him from the injuries suffered in the cage). I hope that Paige can develop opportunities from DWTS that don't involve fighting. She is beautiful and very talented, and I would hope for her that she will have all her brain powers intact when she is 50. She needs to stop subjecting herself to traumatic brain injuries on a regular basis, and doing the same to others. Paige and Mark are my favorite dance couple in the finals. She is a terrific dancer, and I always love Mark's creativity. But I have to disregard her day job in order to enjoy her dancing.
  11. Me, too. There have been plenty of times when I, an anonymous Internet commenter, have felt a pro wasn't serving the celeb well (Maks comes to mind), but to have articles written about it is pretty harsh. I think Keo tried his best for Jodie. And Jodie is one class act. She stuck up for Keo like a really good friend. I wish her all the best with her show.
  12. JR Martinez is already the first physically challenged celeb winner. He was badly injured in Iraq and has lasting handicaps as a result; he is deaf in one ear, and has visible scars.
  13. I don't watch any of the Real Housewives shows, and don't need to see any more of them on DWTS. None of them have impressed. I'm glad the show insisted on dumping Kim, and wish she and Tony had accepted it more gracefully and maturely. I can't believe a woman who is worried about being there for her six kids would even try to continue in a silly dance contest after having a stroke and being hospitalized for three days. Dawn Wells for season 22! The Gilligan's Island number was cute and fun, mostly thanks to the troupe. The big belly on Captain (Alan) was funny. Paula's schtick is not at all amusing to me, and I'd like to see her leave soon. Didn't enjoy watching Lindsay push Alek into hitting on Brittany and Jenna. Too junior high school. No need to embarrass the guy, he's working hard and doing well. And asking Jenna for a date is not really helping him with the problem of how to look sexy doing a vampire dance on live TV. Ugh with the Bindi and Dere's music not clearing in time. Not exactly a well oiled machine. They knew they were going to do these weekly themes; they should have been working to clear a bunch of TV theme songs since before the season even started. Nick and Sharna did a lovely, brief little dance. The dances are so very short, at least 15 seconds shorter than the first 10 seasons, that even the good ones don't really have the chance to make much of an impression on me. The women dancing at the beginning looked like a stripper club. A long way from ball room dancing. Julianne looked gorgeous this evening. The lighter touch with the makeup, a simple hairstyle, a dress no one is worried she is going to fall out of -- it all came together into a beautiful look. She could look that good every week, if her stylists would just go for beautiful rather than edgy.
  14. Contemporary and hip-hop are my least favorite dance styles, so the overload of these two styles makes the show less enjoyable for me. And the music choices are truly awful in so many of these dances. It seems to be the cool, modern style to choreograph dances to very sparse music -- just a melody, with no discernible beat or harmony. Or, just percussion, with no melody. Too often, the dance seems completely divorced from the music, especially the contemporary pieces set to moody, rhythm-free ballads. Give me some disco set to Donna Summers! Music to dance to-- A strong beat, a melody, harmony, even a counter-melody! I know I'm not their preferred demographic, so if the young people like hip hop and emo contemporary set to music without a beat or music with nothing but a beat, that's what the show will give us. I'm just not enjoying it very much anymore. This show has shown me I'm an old woman who doesn't much like the music and dancing young people are into these days. And, in conclusion, Get off my lawn!
  15. Public proposals are pretty common these days. The Reality TV Generation. Noah is just luckier than most, with the opportunity to do it on live national TV. Would you like to watch Twitch propose to Allison? It's on youtube: Just another reason to be glad the Internet didn't exist when I was young.
  16. Over the Rainbow, sung by Jewel, danced by Dmitry and Chelsie. Can't help but share this, it's one of my favorite dances ever on the show: I like Josh Groban just fine, but I won't rewatch last night's performance, as I have with the Jewel/Dmitry/Chelsie version.
  17. I definitely was not a fan of Travis's Wall dance -- too violent, as if it was a domestic violence dance or a gang warfare beatdown. Ugh. I'd much rather see our pros do a special waltz or tango. Same for Maddy Zeigler -- leave that kid on the horrid show she stars on, and let our pros dance with the music guests. Erin's outfit looked fine at first glance; but then she twirled the long string like a whip, and then I also noticed the black stripes down the inner legs of the pants -- and the black stripes were not of the same length. Some fashion designer just had to do something different and wacky so we could talk about it. It was definitely time for Robert and Chris to go home. They both worked hard on the show and tried their best, they should both be proud of how long they lasted. I won't be too surprised if Noah wins the trophy. Next couple of weeks will be interesting. I did get the feeling that the producers are on the warpath against Nastia now. Pretty damn rough. Not what I want to see on my sparkly feel-good silly dance show.
  18. This season has lost it's sparkle and joy and heart with the loss of Miss Patti and Willow. My two favorites, gone in two shocking, sad eliminations. Someone mentioned above that they thought Willow skipped the rope line, but she was there doing interviews, looking OK. Here's one with some sweet comments from Mark: http://www.eonline.com/news/651003/mark-ballas-praise-of-willow-shields-is-the-sweetest-thing-you-ll-hear-today I really enjoyed the creativity and imagination Mark and Willow brought to each of their dances; I'll miss them.
  19. The foxtrot by Val and Rumer seemed more like a paso to me. Hard, aggressive, with lots of sharp stops and starts. I'm not a fan of Val's standard ballroom choreography. All of those abrupt stops are a big part of his Latin choreography, and I wish he wouldn't bring it into the standard dances. I wish he could go with the flow, and keep the flow going, of the standard dances like foxtrot. When Michael Sam publicly came out, I saw a few of his comments in the press and felt he was a classy, charming guy. I'm quite pleased that DWTS picked him up. It's great that he's landed on his feet even though the NFL didn't work out for him. He can move that beautiful booty! And, he and Peta seem to have a fun friendship. I hope they last a long time.
  20. I'm a bit puzzled why Twitch was so prominently featured in the finale -- 2 dances plus a few mentions. Kinda like Derek being featured in an Apolo/Julianne rehearsal, plus one pro dance, and the next season Derek's a pro? I hope, hope, hope that this is NOT an indicator that TPTB are planning to hire Twitch as a pro next season. That would be a really bad idea, show. Twitch is a nice guy, but he is not a ballroom dancer! Don't even think about it!
  21. OK, I've taken the loss of the results show into consideration, and rejected that as an excuse. The dances were shortened to the point of absurdity starting in the All Stars season, when they still had the results show. I point squarely at the fourth judge as a worthless time waster that should be eliminated and the time allocated to more dancing. The Dances Are Too Damn Short!
  22. It depends on your definition of always (chuckle). The dances have indeed been super short all the way through the end of the season since at least Season 15, when I noticed and started commenting about it. Last night's dances were a minute 5 seconds in round one and a minute 10 seconds for the trios. Total dance time for each couple: 2 minutes 15 seconds. But I pull out my homemade DVDs of season 5, back in the good old days of DWTS. In week 9, each couple performed a ballroom dance and a latin dance, each a minute 35 to 40 seconds long. Mel B and Maks were on the floor, just the two of them, for a lovely minute 40 second Viennese Waltz and then a minute 35 second paso doble. Total dance time per couple: 3 minutes 15 seconds. That's a decline of one full minute of dance time per couple, a loss of 30 percent of the dance time from the early days of DWTS. I miss those minutes of dancing each week. In fact, the week one dances in season 5 were a minute 15 seconds each -- longer than the dances we're getting in week 9 of this season. Of course, the dances were 'boring' lift-free classical ballroom and latin dance styles. The couples didn't have to spend their time learning dangerous lifts until the very end. But I wasn't bored at all. The Dances Are Too Damn Short! More dancing, less talking!
  23. Thanks a lot for the reply. Still seems supremely dumb to me. Watch the Lacey interviews while the judges are speaking? That's silly, no one can pay attention to two voices at once. It might make sense if one channel was broadcasting a music concert while one has interviews, but as it is....just seems like a waste of money to bother with putting it up on the website for one hour only. If the Lacey interviews were available for viewing right now, I'm a big enough fanatic that I'd probably do it. As they are doing it, though, I would have to watch the interviews live while my DVR collects the actual show, then I could watch the show after the interviews. Not gonna happen. I would have liked to see the interview with Amy Purdy and Meryl Davis, for example, but not in lieu of watching my favorite show on Monday nights. IF anyone was watching the feed, I would expect to have seen some comments about it either here or in the comments at Annie Barrett's Fringe Fairy blog. Not a word. http://www.anniebarrett.com/blog/ ABC must know that no one is looking at the interviews in the fleeting time they are available on the website. Hard to believe they are wasting all this money and equipment and time to produce something no one is watching.
  24. I'm still not understanding this. ABC wants me to tune into their All Access coverage and watch interviews with Lacey instead of watching DWTS? How does this make sense?
