  1. I'll join you in the stupid people corner. I guessed Etch-A-Sketch. When I saw they all got it immediately, I went back and re-read the clue. Nope, still would've said Etch-A-Sketch. (I used to shake mine a lot.) I did get a couple of TS in the game, but I didn't care enough to write them down. I know I got two DDs correct that were missed but can't even remember what they. I'm on Teacher Summer Brain. It's a miracle I'm getting any correct at all, considering I rarely even know what day it is during this time of year.
  2. I stumbled upon the One Day at a Time reboot and loved it so much I binged both seasons in one weekend. It's sharply written, and Rita Moreno is amazing, as always. I highly recommend it. My only gets were sewing machine, Columbia, and Albee. I missed FJ.
  3. If she had lost because of it this board would've crashed the PTV servers. I like her, but it would've been funny to see her lose that way just to read the reactions of our amazing posters here.
  4. I like Diana, and I'm glad she won today, especially after her DD wagering. So many women (I'm purposely using women instead of female because this is Jeopardy, where women is an adjective) contestants wager so timidly it frustrates me. Keep it up, Diana. Cut the cheese had me howling! BTW, did any of you catch her wagering error?i think she miscalculated what twice of Katherine's score would've been? Considering our recent discussion here that really jumped out at me. The only TS I got was the final. I was trying to think of signs with two of something, and pisces was my first thought. I consdiered gemini, but pisces made more sense.
  5. I called out Cooke and Smith but knew Jeopardy wouldn't go there. That would've been good for the high-valued clue. I thought the ones they had were way too easy. I got home from vacation last night and found out my mother, who was house-sitting for me, had deleted all the Jeopardy episodes I had recorded. It's a good thing I decided to watch not-so-legally while I was away. Otherwise, I'd be seriously considering emancipating myself. Can you do that at 45 years old? I liked Catherine and am sad to see her go. The new champ was fine too. I must be mellowing with age because most of the contestants don't bother me the way they used to. I wasn't a David fan because of the mugging, but most of them have been fine for me. As far as betting strategies, I try to guess what each contestant will wager, but I'm often wrong. For the wager in question, I would've bet $0. I do admit to being weak at math: I know enough to do my own taxes, tip properly, and not overdraw my checking account. I don't know enough to calculate all the various possibilities when deciding what I would wager on the show.
  6. I play the oboe. Completely useless but I'm in.
  7. Rachel was in the clue, wasn't it? I won't miss David either. Truth or Consequences, Texas??? Gah!
  8. David reminds me of every guy from high school I couldn't stand, from the smirking to the camera mugging. He can't lose fast enough for me. I didn't write down my gets, but I had a solid game and knew FJ immediately.
  9. I could've written this entire post. I'm freezing my ass off in Oakland, which is currently about 50 degrees cooler than Tucson was when I left yesterday. I am so used to the AZ heat I may need to buy a parka out here! The contestants were horrific at the pop culture stuff, but as a huge Prince fan I was glad the game moved fast enough to reveal all the clues. I thought this was an easy game and was surprised by a lot of the TS. I do like the new champ, but he will have trouble if he comes up against a pop culture fan. There was a question answered incorrectly with silver nitrate but Alex didn't give the correct answer. I assumed it was just silver. Can anyone confirm?
  10. We all know it would be "Call Me By My Woman Name."
  11. I said hijacking yesterday too, so I'm officially giving myself credit for another TS get. Uhhhh, today's game was, uhhhh, a little, uhhhh, hard to, uhhhhh, watch. Sorry if my yelling at my TV to stop saying "Uhhh" distracted you during your viewing. I'm sure all of you heard me from Southern AZ. Other than my annoyance, I had a very good game. My gets were recovered, deacon, Jim Dandy, credenza, Costa Rica, Harry Blackmun, and, Jerusalem, position, Peabody, and FJ in an instaget. I wanted Sharron to win just because I loved the way she said Hernan Cortes. I think she'd have given Trebek a run for his money with the accents. Of course, I'm impressed by anyone who can roll an 'R' since I have never been able to do it.
  12. I started that conversation yesterday, so I feel you. This wasn't a fun game to watch. I know the new champ was wearing Cavs colors, but they looked like the ASU colors, so I disliked him immediately. His hemming and hawing while selecting didn't change my opinion. I learned today that highjacking and skyjacking are different things. Thanks, Jeopardy. My gets were dengue fever, Brazil, Liberia, holy cow, Brunei, and Henry the Navigator. I whiffed on FJ. Boo hiss. When i type in the name of a country now, the flag of that country shows up as a suggestion. I'm having fun with flags, just like Sheldon Cooper. Oh goodness, I hope Jim Parsons survives my post.
  13. She played herself as a guest star. I think it was just one episode. You're right that the show was underrated. Wendy Malick is fantastic.
  14. I'll join you at a table for two. Buzzy's belt had me laughing. I like the guy and was happy to see him again. My gets were Austin, outwit, Waltzing Matilda (I know of no other Australian song), and FJ in an instaget. I'm glad so many of you had FJ right; I was wondering if I was crazy for thinking that was too easy to end up a TS in final. Two other random thoughts I wrote down as I watched; First, I learned a week ago that Kate Spade is David Spade's sister. I missed a lot of 90s TV because I was busy serving in the Army, and I recently started watching "Just Shoot Me" for the first time. There was an episode that featured Kate Spade, and it's the first time I ever made the connection about their last names being the same. I looked it up, and I'm sure I'm the last person who learned that little tidbit. Second, Jeopardy should consider upping the prizes for second and third place. It probably costs some contestants more to be on the show than they make!
  15. I have a conservative coworker, and when I mentioned I was looking forward to Bill Maher this week, he told me the show had been canceled. This is a teacher with masters degree, and he can't tell fake news from real news. I weep.
  16. My only gets today were Hong Kong and chipotles. FJ was an instaget. The contestants seemed okay today, but I was multi-tasking and not paying much attention to the screen. I did hear someone mention a Jeopardy drinking game and was totally hoping he'd turn out to be a boardie and mention ours. If I ever make the show, I'm definitely going to mention our drinking game.
  17. It means something to me. I root extra hard if a contestant is from where I live, or even a place I used to live. I assume most of us do the same, although I wonder if boardies from large cities well-represented on Jeopardy feel the same. I also root hard for contestants in my profession, teaching.
  18. I was so angry to see "Male Authors" as a category. This shows me the writers know they should be using "Female Authors" instead of "Women Authors." UGH! This was not my best game. My only TS were Acropolis, standard (for songs), Julius Caesar, and FJ in an instaget. The pacing of the contestants was throwing off my game, but I'm not quite sure why. I just couldn't get into it today. I was worried for Amy in the beginning when bad guesses kept her in the hole, but she turned it around and ended up with a respectable score. I still dislike Jeffrey and still don't know why.
  19. It is if the question is, "Who are the reigning Super Bowl champs?" Sorry, still giddy.
  20. This was another game I felt was completely underwhelming, followed by a way-too-easy FJ, in my opinion. I don't know why, but I'm not feeling Jeffrey. I liked Virginia and will miss her. Tim was too hard on the buzzer, so I wasn't rooting for him. My gets were six, orange, iamb, Van Halen, H1N1, P51, and FJ. I also wrote down "The Arcade Fire?" which reminds me someone added a "The" to Arcade Fire. I know it would pass muster with the judges, but it bothered me. It's not "The Van Halen," and it's not "The Arcade Fire." Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong; it won't be the first or last time! It bothers me as much as when a clue is looking for something specific and a contestant adds information already in the clue. Why do they do this? It drives me crazy! Was that a TS? I didn't write it down, but I had it correct as well. I thought a contestant answered Kirkpatrick.
  21. This wasn't an enjoyable game to watch. The first round was pretty painful. Virginia did well in the second round, but her FJ guess made no sense. I was surprised FJ wasn't an instaget for all of them. They didn't do well with female governors, which I ran. I did chuckle when our former governor went unanswered. I'll keep my opinions to myself though. There was an easy palindrome that was really simple. Not only didn't they get it, but the person who'd just selected that category answered with something not even a palindrome. Grr.
  22. I said Baja with zero confidence. Josh is stressing me out! He's lucky he finished im the lead since Kristin had FJ too. I continue to like all the contestants, so clearly the world is ending soon. I had Thompson, under the table, thunder, Indiana, and string. Not my best game. The physics and French artists categories kicked my ass; string was a guess based on the number of letters.
  23. I've chatted with him on another board; he seems like a great guy. For me, the gesturing is annoying, but it's more like an annoying thing someone I like does, as opposed to my not liking him because he does something annoying. I don't know if that makes any sense. It's the last day of school, and my brain is FRIED.
  24. Well, Josh, you gave me a scare tonight. Stop goofing around and be serious, dammit! I don't remember him gesturing so much, but I could be wrong. I know he's having fun, and I still love him, but he scared me! I was fine with all three contestants, and it's freaking me out to keep saying that. We've had some perfectly pleasant contestants lately. Jeopardy Gods, if you're going to select a contestant named Tara, you could choose me. I'm right freaking here. The first round was really painful to watch. I did well, but the contestants did not. My gets (for both rounds) were: Athens, "The butler did it," Robert De Niro (which I just realized I have been misspelling my whole life), Trotsky, 25, John Brown (odd Josh missed it when we just had Harper's Ferry), sapsucker, and WWII. I had to figure out FJ but had it plenty of time to write it down.
  25. No BMS for "Smith"..... Okay... Good job, Josh. I enjoy watching him play and liked his interview today. I thought all three contestants were solid.
