  1. That's how I felt when I saw a beagle category. Even though it was all Snoopy, I ran it. My beagle is the best dog I've ever had. He's really old, and I'm already dreading when he goes to that farm in the sky. My audition is exactly one week away, and I've been studying so much I'm making myself sick. I think it's because I'm studying things I'm weak in, and it's shaking my confidence. I do now have the Kings/Queens of England memorized in order and by year, with some interesting tidbits thrown in for good measure. I have been less successful in my goal to learn more about classical music. Despite listening to nothing but classical music for three weeks, I still know very little. Le sigh. I've also had the dream when I'm actually on the show and all the categories are things I don't know. Anyway, if you know of a book or website that can help with some of the basics for classical music, I'm all ears (pun intended).
  2. Isn't there a Bridget Fonda who was popular for a little while in the 90s?
  3. I'm working my way through the films just because of how frequently they're asked about. I'm not a fan but want to at least have the major characters in my memory bank. Jonathan is sneaky good. I find myself surprised by his total at the end of the games. Maybe I'm judging not paying that much attention.
  4. If I ask you what Bill Gates does for a living you would not say "author," which was the FJ category. I stand by my assertion it was a strange response. I'm not mocking him, for crying out loud. I'm pointing out that it was a strange response for that category.
  5. I thought the board was easier than usual today. I had Baywatch, Wonder, Three Times A Lady, Two Princes, and Gulf of Finland. I said JK Rowling immediately for FJ and was surprised they didn't all get it. The Bill Gates guess by Greg was strange. I guess he focused on the billionaire part and forgot the category? Not that it mattered in the end, but Kathryn's FJ bet was way too high.
  6. Mea culpa. We don't change our clocks and I realized it right after I posted it. I'm very sorry. I deleted it within a minute of posting it, but you'd already seen my post.
  7. Never mind. I posted too early. I forgot almost everyone else changes their clocks. Sorry!
  8. Congratulations to John on the win today! I liked all three contestants and would've been fine with any of them winning. I had One Day at a Time (which is so freaking good; if you're looking for something to watch and haven't checked it out yet you should), John Carpenter, the Tennessee DD, Francis Perkins, and FJ pretty quickly.
  9. Just search reddit jeopardy. It's on today's post. Thanks for the well wishes!
  10. An early Merry Christmas to you all! Today I had zircon, Duke, potato, despot, and for FJ I had Downing immediately. I was impressed with Charbel's wagering. He has a great post on Reddit, and I intend to pick his brain regarding my upcoming audition. It's three weeks away, and I'm already getting butterflies.
  11. As a twice graduate of the University of Arizona, it's not the same school as Arizona State, thank goodness! (There is a huge rivalry between the two, and we don't like being confused for each other.) Jackie is on a roll. She's a solid player. I had Lipton, Harvard, casserole and hyperbole, bargain bin, Okeechobee, and FJ simply by focusing on the spelling of his hometown. I thought it was a good game.
  12. I had my first FJ miss in a while last night. I was trying to think of a wall or some sort of memorial, and I never thought of Mt. Rushmore. I had Caspian Sea and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Conor made a mistake I have seen many times as a long-suffering Eagles fan. (I know last season was amazing, but it was an anomaly.) He played not to lose instead of playing to win. In that situation, you have to go for the lead, even if it's a category with which you struggle.
  13. I don't know if Joan Jett did, but I remember watching a biopic about The Runaways a few years ago.
  14. That's awesome! I wonder why she hasn't mentioned it. I do vaguely remember someone from The Runaways being on The Chase but didn't make the connection. Thanks for the info. That's hilarious!
  15. My FJ streak continues...barely. I had attention, restitution, J Crew DD, silicon, rubber, Tommy Lee, silver bullet, and xray. I had no idea on FJ so guessed Loki. There were a lot of TS in this game. When's the last time we cleared a board?
  16. I didn't hear her mispeak, but I was answering at the same time, so I wouldn't have heard it anyway. I had upset, temperature, anointment, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and FJ in an instaget. I can't believe we didn't get through Teams on the Move. I'd have run it!
  17. Faris played really well. I was glad he won. My gets were Greenland & Iceland, prize fight, data, and final. I think I'm on on FJ streak! I received the application I have to take to the audition with me. I struggled with the five interesting things, not because I didn't have enough, but because I realized how many of my good stories involve bars. Even if I am one, I don't want to come off as a lush on TV! Anyway, the application says it's for Season 35. I was surprised they're still auditioning for this season. I certainly hope I make the show because I'm spending a pretty penny to get to it.
  18. I was stunned I got a SciFi TV answer correct in an instaget! New champ was really excited, which I get, but middle guy didn't seem to appreciate it. I get that, too, but he looked really irritated. This is a big fear of mine, if I make the show. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. I don't want to look pissy if I lose.
  19. It was was a pretty unremarkable game for me, but I did have The English Patient, morphine, Nietzsche, Charlie Parker, and FJ in an instaget. Congrats to the new champ!
  20. Thanks for the love and support, everyone. I'm going to spend the next month practicing and studying categories in which I struggle. Classical music, art, ballet, and royalty, here I come!
  21. I just received my audition invitation. I'm going to audition in LA on January 17th!!! I'm so excited!!!!!
  22. That was the moment I realized I am not watching what the cool kids watch. I hadn't even heard of some of them. There weren't too many gets for me today. I had Savion Glover, ZTE, Jack London DD, and Atlanta. For FJ, I had Zapruder fairly quickly. Dave's three-day total is impressive.
  23. I flew from Tucson to Philly to see the Eagles lose the Cowboys at home last month. I paid a grip of money and took PTO just to see them lose. What's worse is I got sick that weekend and ended up in the hospital as well. That loss really hurts! Oh, and a lot of my students are Cowboys fans, and they were RELENTLESS when I got back. It's been a frustrating season to be an Eagles fan, but I still love the bird gang. The NFL is one of the few categories I'd go all in on during FJ if I were a contestant, regardless of circumstances. I don't think they've ever asked a football question I couldn't answer, unlike that recent group of contestants who didn't know any of them. I wish FJ had been a little harder, but I understand they have to account for contestants who aren't into football.
  24. I never noticed it until someone here pointed it out. They've ruined me! Now I notice it whenever it happens, and it drives me nuts.
  25. That was a good game today. Were there no TS's in the first round? I would assume so. I had the pope, dadaism, the Mayo Clinic DD, I had Brooks as an instaget. ETA kevlar as a response got a chuckle out of me.
