  1. FJ was ridiculously easy for me today. I was just in Tombstone a few weeks ago, and a close friend of mine graduated from Tombstone High. I liked and ran the famous names category. I was sorry to see Adriana lose, but she wasn't very fast on the buzzer today. As someone who is emphatically child-free by choice, I can't imagine having five kids under school age in my home. My sister has six, but they're really spread apart in age, and even her house stresses me out. Yikes!
  2. That FJ was freaking brutal for me. Even 18 years of forced church and Sunday School couldn't save me. I'm glad Adriana survived that game. I was worried when she fell behind at the end of DJ. We've had some obvious TS's lately. I'd start writing down my gets again but lately I'm always doing something else while I'm watching.
  3. I got it right using the same thought process as you did. I get smug when I get a FJ TS right. It is, admittedly, a rare occurrence.
  4. I was so disappointed once I realized what this category was. As an English major, I thought I was going to learn about some famous people who also majored in English. We don't all work as baristas, you know! Not that there's anything wrong with being a barista. I got the same TS's most of you got and was equally irritated at Bridget's insistence on staying on a category no one seemed to know. When Alex mentioned the football category after the bible clues went unanswered I had to laugh because I was thinking the same thing. I clean up on Bible categories, despite not being religious. I credit 18 years of forced church attendance. We finally got a category with some German, and they didn't even finish it. That really ticked me off. I rarely get to show off my German.
  5. I love Erik's hair! I'm growing out my afro, and I'd love it if it got that big. I had shoulder pads, Pennsylvania, Jewel, and Guns N' Roses. I was thrilled to see Sports as an FJ category, but I was disappointed that it was so easy.
  6. After the first-round tie, I'm not sure even Alex knew who'd pick first in DJ. Lol. I had babushka, 1914, Scotland DD, April, As You Like It, Motley Crüe, Led Zep, Aerosmith, Australia, and Java. I would have liked to see the last Band Books clue since I was right on the four clues we did see. FJ was an instaget for me.
  7. Alan was impressive again. Good for him. The only TS I had was architect for Mike Brady. FJ was an instaget. I was so happy to see "Barry" mentioned. It's such a great show.
  8. Good game today. I wish FJ had been harder. It was an instaget for me, and I assumed all three contestants would get it right as well. I had curtain call, seminar, text neck, and baloon dog on a complete guess.
  9. They saved the Weird Al category for last, and I was pissed off because I thought we wouldn't get to see all the clues.
  10. I haven't posted much because my schedule is kicking my rear, but I needed to log on simply to say Doug is my first hated contestant this season. I thought maybe we'd gotten past the show boating, but I was so wrong. The proposal didn't even bother me since I received one myself last week and was still pretty pleased about it, even though I said no...well, I said not now but probably later. I haven't been writing anything down but FJ was an instaget. I could see the confusion though about hyphenated.
  11. Someone got walrus after someone else, hilariously, guessed dolphin.
  12. It was an instaget for me too, but I wasn't surprised the contestants didn't get it. It was one of those if you don't think of it immediately you may not figure out from the clue. Kyle was a strong player, and I'll look forward to seeing him in the TOC.
  13. I'm still here but watching too late to comment. I have four preps this school year. That means I'm teaching four different classes for which I have to write lesson plans. Anyone who thinks teachers work short days is nuts! I'm enjoying and impressed by the current champion. I'm not at all interested in this beard contest or all star tournament. Hard pass on both. Jeopardy is trying too hard, and I don't need Austin, Colby, or Buzzy back on my screen this soon. If ever.
  14. Thanks for mentioning this. I thought the same thing. Once again contestants would benefit from seeing Hamilton. To be fair, I'd benefit from reading Harry Potter and have no interest in doing so, so I'm a hypocrite.
  15. Stanford offered me free tuition and a $60k stipend to be a reasearch assistant or TA while doing a PhD. I decided against it since I'm not far from retiring with a nice pension, but if I were 15 years younger... Nice to see familiar faces back here. I didn't realize the new season had started. I need to catch up!
  16. I like her and never understood the scorn she gets here. I like all the Dateline correspondents.
  17. Yeah, Gauge is the worst kind of racist in my opinion. He can't just think his hateful thoughts and leave it at that. He has to attack people and post vile things on social media about it. I didn't hear them mention a hate crime in the charges, but he should've been charged with one. Lovely and her family seem amazing, as does the radio personality. It's a shame such a fine young man was taken from us for such a stupid reason.
  18. If he'd told a story about shaming someone who was using their mobile phone during a movie, I'd have stood up in my living room and applauded. His story, however, just made me think he's an ass. That correction on slant cost me a TS get. I also had whinny and Shirley Chisholm, who often gets missed when asked about on Jeopardy. That makes me sad. I said Lexington and Concord for FJ. I'm taking it as a get.
  19. I had the same thought. Ron was too much with the celebrations after correct responses, but his FJ response was funny.. I lost my game notes with my gets, but FJ was easy for me because of the "its best friend" part of the clue. I can't believe I'm thinking this, but I'd love a challenging FJ. I hate when it's easy.
  20. I'm always surprised at how long the Jeopardy season is. Everything else I watch has been on break for a long time.
  21. The DD is almost never in the top row, so I assume that's why he skips them. He's not exactly hunting for them but why choose the top row if there's no chance of one being there?
  22. Dave said he was going to bet something but then the category was "fashion." I think Tara not betting it all on her DD was a big mistake. She said at the point she was trying to protect 2nd place but the game wasn't a runaway at that point. I'm sure it's easier from my recliner though. Alex's interview of Tara was absolutely ridiculous. He's such a tool. My gets were Mormon, Total Recall, bull mastiff, gear ratio, Virginia, Colombia, friction, strain and another easy FJ. I agree Beth should've gotten a BMS for "mastiff."
  23. I had the same gets as everyone else. That was an exciting finish to DJ! My girlfriend wondered if Neel had to pee because he was choosing so quickly. I'd take that over slow as molasses any day, though. Congrats to Dave. At this rate we could have a TOC rematch beteen him and Ryan. That'd be pretty cool.
  24. What a game by Dave! By the end of it, I was totally rooting for him to make it a runaway. His breadth of knowledge is impressive, and he didn't even have a sports category to run today! I don't do Twitter, but I'm familiar with his Twitter because I love sports stats. I'm not surprised he has that many followers. BTW, Alex, there was no MLB player named Dave Mattingly! It was Don. That was a solid run by Ryan. I know he wasn't well liked on this board, but he was impressive as a player, especially in the second round of his games. I wish him luck in the TOC. I don't usually comment on contestants' physical appearance, but I really liked Emily's whole look. My only gets were gold glove (which I'm surprised Ryan and Emily didn't ring in on after Dave's mistake), and Reign of Terror. I had FJ immediately and was surprised Dave missed it, considering how well had did with other literature clues.
