  1. Josh is a little loud, but I was impressed with his knowledge base. Jeopardy contestants need to see, or at least hear the soundtrack to, Hamilton. I saw it with the original cast, and it was fantastic. Obviously I had FJ in an instaget. I also had Wanted Dead or Alive. I didn't have any other TS today. It was a good game overall. ETA I laughed so hard at Josh's story. One of my dream interview stories if I ever make the show is when I won a half marathon while in Army Advanced Individualized Training. It was funny because I didnt even know I was in contention. I was just running and chatting with a buddy and crossed a half step before she did. We were both shocked that I'd won. I was fit, but I was never really a runner. I think I earned a weekend pass, so I was relieved that my friend was gracious about it.
  2. Dammit Osman. Every time I like a champ they end up a one and done. I had Alexandra the Great, extradition as a surprising TS, obstruction of justice DD, and FJ in an instaget. I couldn't believe they all missed FJ. Geoff made a mistake I often make on clues in misunderstanding three letters as opposed to three words. I thought I was the only one who does that. It happens to me a lot when playing along.
  3. The less time spent trying to decipher Alex's inane comments the better.
  4. What an impressive performance by Osman! I hope he has a nice, long run. He's my kind of contestant. Actually, all three were fine, but he was most impressive. I had deism, Nagasaki, and banzai. FJ was an instaget.
  5. I didn't have FJ either. Couldn't think of it, but in my defense I was multi-tasking and not paying that much attention. I did, however, notice that they didn't get through the "Beyond the Grave" category. I need to stop telling myself I like certain categories because it almost always ends up with the contestants saving them until the end of the round. I wrote down Cosmo, Old Ironsides, peacock DD, and Franz Joseph. I also wrote down, "A picture of a gingerbread house? GTFOH!" What's annoying to me is when people feel a need to quote your autocorrect failures and typos so you can't even go back and fix them! I'm usually typing on my phone or a tablet that hates me and my progressive lenses. Cut me some freaking slack! I hope you all have a great weekend. The teacher walkout in AZ continues through Monday, and I'm anxiously wanting to get back to work but not enough to cave.
  6. Good for you. Just kidding; that's a great story! Robert would stare down the others whenever they rang in. It was odd. That and his FJ antics annoyed me, but I liked his enthusiasm otherwise. Sara Gilbert's lookalike was a bit loud but I liked her. I had Farnsworth, whip, Vaccaro, Comstock Lode, and FJ in an instaget. I am an 80s girl through and through and have zero recollection of a safari craze. Maybe it didn't make it to Philly. I remember the movie being popular but not the craze.
  7. Lol. I'm childless, and I thought the same thing. I imagine that's a story they told a lot with great enthusiasm. I liked Krishna's interview. I am sorry he crashed liked that. He seems fun. Yes, you can be funny without shouting, Randy. My gets were Hartford (a former employer of mine), Marshall, Grover Cleveland, Argentina and Chile, probability, Age of Innocence, War and Peace, uncle, Fats Domino, and FJ. Saskatchewan was an embarrassing guess. Canadian geography isn't very hard, particularly provinces. It's not like African geography. Speaking of which, I wonder why the category wasn't North America today or just Canada. Are you referring to Age of Innocence? I dont remember a Pride and Prejudice clue today.
  8. The defendant in the missing dog case? Now, that's a loser. What a despicable waste of space.
  9. Well, my hearing has finally recovered. I started my evening at a bar for an NBA playoff game where people were shouting (including me). I came home, poured a glass of wine, and turned on what I thought would be a relaxing game of Jeopardy. Then Randy came on screen. Wow. My gets were word of mouth, henchmen, aurical, and Maryland. I guessed center of Africa, which was not a great guess, but at least another contestant guessed it, so I don't feel so bad. I'll have the volume at 5 tomorrow for sure.
  10. While I agree with the ruling in the hired not hired case, I hated the way MM would ask the plaintiff a question and then cut her off before she could answer. This would've been an interesting case to me, but MM is getting to be as rude as Judy. Maybe she's over it, and it's time to hang up the robe. MM loses her shit when anyone interrupts her but does it to litigants all the time. Also, without knowing her circumstances I'm not prepared to call the plaintiff a loser. Lots of people have bad credit due to medical expenses, unemployment, and things out of their control. Not everyone with bad credit is a loser. We don't know her background because MM never asked.
  11. This was a great game for me. I'm just happy to have regular Jeopardy back! Face touching guy seemed a little off, but he didn't bother me after 2 weeks of college kids. Dying to read an explanation for that as well. Anyway, I had Cressida, records, Matthew Henson (do any contestants ever get him right?), the Haiti DD, and denial of service. FJ was an instaget for me. Welcome back, show!
  12. I was going to skip it, but I need my fix. Next time I will watch old jeopardy episodes instead.
  13. "I love watching contestants stare at higher valued clues because they refuse to start at the tops," said no Jeopardy fan ever. God, I hate this tournament this year. I guesd I'm rooting fpr UCF, but I can't even remember her name.
  14. I cleaned up in that lyrics category, but I missed the Wiggle one. Jason Derulo did have a song called Wiggle, so I answered the same way Thatcher (I hate that name) did, even though I knew the lyrics weren't right. I'm a shameless lover of pop music, and Rihanna is one of my favorites, so that was easy. I teach high school, so it's easy for me to keep up with today's music even though I'm an 80s girl through and through. Our parents bitched about our music too, so I try to be open minded about what those darn kids are listening to. Other than auto tuned stuff, I like a lot of it. The TV category was hard for me. I knew This is Us and Madame Secretary. That's it. There are way too many TV options now for me to keep up. Most of my students don't even watch TV; they watch YouTube videos instead. FJ was ridiculously easy. I'll be happy when regular games return.
  15. I watched today just to root for her, but I cringed at that one. I remember thinking, it's probably a kidney and definitely not a heart.
  16. I love classic rock and old school hip hop too. I don't love Jack White. Maybe it's the sound system at SNL, which is notoriously bad, but I've never understood his appeal anyway. I try to give all the musical guests a listen. That's why I downloaded some Cardi B after last week's show. I won't be downloading anything I heard this episode. I thought T'Challa on Black Jeopardy and Aidy B were two of the best skits this season. I also thought Weekend Update was way better last week than this week. I hate Les Mis with a passion, so the lobster skit everyone seemed to love was awful for me. And the skit with the sitcom kid who has sex with his mom or the kidnwith a hard on in class? Hard pass. I like smart and funny and hate frat boy humor. I usually find something redeeming in an episode to rewatch. There was nothing for me in this one. I am glad that so many of you liked it. It's a sign that the show is still going strong, even when I think it has a misfire. And John Mulaney is one of my favorite comedians. I even liked his TV show. So I'm glad he's getting positive feedback.
  17. I thought Cardi B was awesome. It's interesting no one is talking about Jack White's horrible performances but everyone crapped all over Cardi last week. His stuff passes for music but rap doesn't? Obviously we're all entitled to our opinions. That should go without saying.
  18. Outside of the monologue, I did not like this episode at all. The skits fell flat, and the music almost made my ears bleed. Even weekend uodate was a snooze fest for me. I loved last week's episode. I hated this one.
  19. I don't know about lost generation since everyone always says that about the next generation and they do just fine, but the idea that her friends love her picture taking reminds me I'm definitely middle aged. I think of people who always wanted to show you their vacation slides. No one wants to see your pictures! I watched hoping my alma mater would be well represented. Oh well. Weighing in on the college major discussion: I initially studied accounting and finance and made great money for years but was miserable. I went back and got a teaching certification and master's degree in education. Because I'm in Arizona, I make a third of what I used to make. You know what? I'm 10 times happier! I wish I hadn't taken my father's terrible advice and studied English and education the first time around instead of finance. Regarding tuition, bright students often secure scholarships. I went to Penn, an Ivy League school, for less than Penn State would've cost because of scholarship money. I really should've studied what I enjoyed though. I tell my students they should study what they love and apply for every available scholarship. You can't put a price on happiness.
  20. I haven't enjoyed these first games so I think I'm bowing out for the tournament. Wake me up when regular Jeopardy returns. I just can't enjoy all the TS that a presumably intelligent college student should get right. I'm pretty sure I have enjoyed the college tournaments in the past, so maybe I'm just cranky this week.
  21. We had them at my high school, and I'm class of 1990. I don't remember Journalism being offered as an AP class, though. It's something I would've taken since I was on the school newspaper staff.
  22. I had the same thought and also didn't realize it was Associated Press until the first clue.
