Dayum! It looks like I need to catch up. I'm having a mini marathon today. I'm looking forward to some of these cases!
-
This was from Friday, but I'm just catching up today: Reliable Definition: responsible for damages Example: "I wanted my name off the car because if anything would happen I'd be reliable for it."
-
I got that too, but I'm in AZ. Not sure if that happened back east.I spent years getting rid of my Philly accent, so I appreciated that sketch a lot. But overall this wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I don't mind Jost and Che, but I was hoping Tina and Amy would do the entire weekend update. Oh well.

I spent the entire episode wondering why my guide said it was new when I knew I'd seen it before. Thank you for posting this; I must have seen it on Snapped.

Of all the words that are confusing, I wouldn't expect maternal vs. paternal to be that complicated. They have ma and a right in the front of them! I don't know that college would help him, though. If anything he'd just take out excessive loans for some fly by night school and then use the money for everything but the English classes he desperately needs. JJ mentioned that kids today don't pay rent after high school. Is that true? Times have changed for sure. My parents said when I finished high school I could go to college, join the military, or get a job and move out. I guess they wouldn't have kicked me out onto the streets, but I didn't get the sense it was negotiable. They sure as hell weren't going to let me live there and do nothing, I know that much! That being said, it was wrong of the dad to keep that money. It wasn't even a windfall; it was reimbursement for something the son paid for.

I've noticed lately contestants giving multiple answers. The guy in the middle did it a couple of times today. I know they can change their answers until Alex rules, but he gave at least three answers for radical. I did well in the angles category, making me not feel so bad about how I did with Dewar's yesterday. I'm glad Tiombi won again. The third contestant would have been okay if she weren't flailing the buzzer all over the place. She had a good personality and a great smile. Once again, I have no idea when Tiombi took the lead. I guess I don't watch the scores that closely, but when I noticed she was in the lead and was surprised. She did better in DJ.

I need to explore other threads. I spend a lot of time in this one and am probably missing a lot of good snark by not frequenting the others.

The new champ snuck up on me. I noticed her score had gotten over $10k and wondered how she did that. She didn't bother me. Rami reminded me of that Seinfeld episode in which George has to pretend is arm is moving uncontrollably. I cleaned up on this game, so I enjoyed it. I don't know if it was an easy board or if they just had some categories I liked. I did not, however, do well in that Dewar's category. There was too much math in that one for my ability, I'm good at math on paper but can't do it well in my head.

F--- yo couch! We need a thread for litigant pics, if we don't already have one. After my fiasco this weekend, I'm not going to attempt to start one, but I often take pics of JJ litigants and post them on Facebook. How come God never tells any of my friends to pay my damn car note? Or mortgage? Or utilities? Or credit cards? Or student loans? My friends suck! The HOA plaintiff was the type of person I deal with as a member of my community's HOA board. They don't understand the difference between community and private property, until something in the community property needs to be repaired. This guy was even worse, since he owns a condo. You will get walls in, bitch, and you will like it. Everything else ain't yours. If you want the responsibility of more property, by a lot in the middle of nowherer with no neighbors nearby. Then you can let your friends park their hoopties wherever they want without fear of being towed. What was he even doing there? Sorry, I don't usually call litigants "bitch." I blame Patti for sending me down that path.

Sad, but true. I guess it makes us feel better about our circumstances.
-
I would add " broughten" as well. Great list!
-
I think JJ gave that case exactly the amount of time it deserved!
-
I was thinking how fun a case would be if a litigant who understood the hearsay rule would challenge JJ on it, but then I realized JJ still wouldn't give a damn and would play her 40 years as a judge card out on them. She should've reimbursed the cow lady for the feed. And hooray for an interesting case that taught me a little about cows.

I don't know why I subjected myself to watching this case again since I suffered through it the first time around. I also don't know why neighbors have to be so involved in each others' lives. I guess they enjoy the drama, like junior high school girls. They have nine kids between them and can't find anything else to do?My neighbors say hello when I'm walking my dog or getting my mail, and that's the extent of our relationship. My dog knows them better than I do since everyone wants to pet him. It's exactly the way I want it. One of my neighbors decided the whole neighborhood wanted to hear his music while he was washing his car on a Saturday morning. I went outside and politely asked him to turn it down. (I worked hard to own a house in a nice area, and we don't do that shit here.) He was cool about it, apologized to me, and hasn't done it again. We are still friendly to each other. It's amazing how we managed to solve the problem without a call to the police or CPS on each other!

When there's less than a minute to go and two full categories left, it's not a fun episode for me. I like the new champ and am also glad to have one who might know the answers to some of the questions better suited to older players. I don't mind younger players, but sometimes they can make for a painful game. Spleen was an odd triple stumper. Did they all forget the category?

I guess we already had a dictionary. I created one before checking. Duh!
-
Katie also surprised me when she came back from so far behind, but I found her to be annoying. The emoting, the lag time between selecting clues, etc. Also, they didn't finish a sports category. I really like sports categories.

This is a place to post the eloquent language of Judge Judy litigants.

I am watching a rerun that aired this morning. The defendant said her ex would "begrade" her. I had to rewind to make sure I heard her correctly. That's another entry for our JJ dictionary. Do we have a forum for that yet?

I wasn't even interested in this show because I didn't care for Jeff on Curb Your Enthusiasm, but when a friend told me it was set in the 80s in Philly, my era and childhood home, I just had to watch. It's one of my favorite shows now, and I loved this episode. I have a large collection of throwback Eagles jerseys, but after this episode I need to get a Wilbert Montgomery one like Barry was sporting.

Of course messy people can get them. I was just pointing out that clean people can too.

We do ours by age, youngest to oldest. We used to have everyone open simultaneously, but then you miss what gifts were received and the reactions to them. My family is huge, so it takes forever! Watching the kids just tear open their gifts like that was amusing to me, but not the way I'd like to do it.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. My mom told me that's all they would get for Christmas. They were very poor, living in rural NC during the 30s and 40s. My mom always overdid Christmas for us, and she said it was because she never got anything besides an orange and wanted her kids to have better.

Bed bug infeststions, from what I understand, don't necessarily mean someone is dirty. They are easily transported; you can get them from a hotel, movie theater seat, library, etc., and bring them home with you. Once you get them, it is very difficult to eradicate them. I did agree with her ruling. The landlord provided what was required by the lease. I disagree with her ruling about the plane tickets. Once again, JJ shows that how she rules is largely influenced by whether or not she likes a litigant and whether or not she has had her sushi for lunch. I've seen lots of cases like this on the show, but there doesn't seem to be consistenct in how she rules on them.

When I see a towing case, like today's, I completely appreciate living in a place with ample parking. I can't imagine why anyone thinks it's a good idea to charge more for returning a car before it gets to the tow lot! If they'd told the plaintiff it would be more, I douby she would have agreed to it. Also, it was nice to see a towee finally win a towing case. MM was so excited about that!
