Comedies can have poignant moments as well. No one is forcing anyone to watch the show, any more than the news forces me to continue watching when I want to throw up every time Trump comes on the screen. I just turn it off. Feel free to do the same. Enough people love this show, and this episode in particular, for it to continue for a long time. I love the show Mom, and it has very serious moments and is dealing with issues surrounding alcohol and drug addiction. Dramas like This is Us have funny moments. Comedies like Blackish have serious ones.

You just can't give us that capital b, can you? Lol Have you not seen previous episodes? We know from flashbacks that Dre grew up extremely poor. Just because he made his way out of poverty doesn't negate any racial injustice he's experienced. Also, as someone who similarly clawed my way up from nothing, the BS you deal with as a person of color doesn't magically disappear once you've achieved financial success! My nice house and sweet car won't keep anyone from calling me the n word or assuming negative things about me. I could give hundreds of examples, but I'd hate to come off as too preachy.

I don't think you have to be from there to know that. They hammered it to death during the Olympics, so I imagine anyone who watched the swimming events would have gotten FJ correct. Although I'm in AZ, and his connection to ASU is pretty well known too. I am enjoying Cindy's run and share in everyone's sadness that she didn't live to get to the TOC, which she so richly earned. I think whoever does beat her better be another great contestant. If she loses to an aggressive, humorless asshole I'll really be pissed, and I'll despise them as much as I do certain other aggressive, humorless contestants.

I was rooting so hard for her!

I got FJ immediately but missed two of the children's books answers. I wasn't into that stuff when I was a kid, and I don't have kids, so kiddie lit is always tough for me. Tim continues to be more lucky than good. I don't dislike him as a player, but I can't believe he's won this many games. Is he automatically in TOC?
-
I am not impressed with Tim's performances, but he keeps winning so good for him. A friend of mine called me yesterday to tell me my doppelganger was on Jeopardy. The middle contestant and I could be sisters, if not twins. It was eerie. Of course she crashed and burned, which made me a little sad. There have been way too many TS's lately. They did so bad in the music category, but didn't I hear one of the contestants mention how much he likes music charts? I ran that one with ease and also got several other TS's. I first thought of Times New Roman, but I wasn't sure it was a standard font, so I guessed Italics, but not in time to write it down. From the other day, I got AZ (and NM) right away. We still have the 100 year anniversary signs all over our highways in AZ even though it happened four freaking years ago.

I disliked the defendant in the party boat cover case, but I hated the defendant in the cruise case. Motivational speaker is just code for someone who rips off those who don't have the good sense to know better. For me, it's right up there with pastors who haven't spent a day in divinity school, but YMMV. I hate the fake crying, and I hate her nasty purple eyeshadon't. At least the party boat guy owned up to his bullshit. I don't like dealing with people either, so I can relate, although I don't actively try to be an asshole! I don't know if we got an update, but I'm sure he turned over the cover without any additional damage. I could see how the plaintiff probably pissed him off. I also believe that he mentioned the cover as an afterthought and the plaintiff started dogging him for it. If it had been mentioned in the original ad, the plaintiff would have had it.

I finally got to watch this episode and now I'm mad at myself for whatever it was I chose to do instead when it aired. The show has been hit or miss for me this season, but I loved this episode. I have a biracial niece who lives with the black side of her family and has no relationship with her white father and his family. She has had many of the identity struggles Bow mentioned. It just felt true to life for me. The office scenes were great, although I still miss the sad sack lady who got fired. I love Wanda, but she adds nothing to this show for me. Also, I loved Bow as narrator. Dre gets on my damn nerves sometimes.

From a couple of days ago, I got Whoopi right away because I know she has the elusive EGOT. I thought someone would say Ellen but knew she's never won an Academy Award. I missed yesterday's FJ, which was my first FJ Miss in a king time. Once revealed, I slapped my forehead. I like the twist on Before and After, even though I was terrible in that category. We haven't seen Stuojd Answers in a while, thank goodness. They should do an EGOT category. I'm just happy to have regular Jeopardy back.

I think there may have been some confusion about your post. You were speculating based on his performance and not giving away future results, correct?
-
I got FJ immediately and was surprised it was a TS. I also got Hustle & Flow. I thought the final wagering was bad. At least two of them overbet, unless I'm remembering incorrectly.
-
Fair enough. It's all good.

This post makes me uncomfortable. You're making a lot of assumptions. There was no mention of her having kids or being on welfare. Shes a scumbag based on what she did say in court. Let's not make stereotypes based on things we don't know.

No Jeopardy thanks to football yesterday and jboard hasn't been updated. What was the.fj question?
-
I think she was playing dumb but MM didn't buy it. At least, I hope she was playing dumb. Either that or her brain cells are fried.
-
Maybe she went halfway and then turned around when the police started calling her? Like the plaintiff said, that woman lied so much even she doesn't know what the truth is!

What kind of fucked-upedness would one have to do in order to have every legitimate rental company in the country tell you to get bent? Holy cannoli, was she vile! You know that bitch took the car to Texas. And who asks for a ride to Texas? I live three miles from the airport and get irritated when asked for a ride to it!

OMG. Reason number 3,456,331 I'm not married. My marriage wouldn't survive my spouse channel surfing and making me miss FJ! Seriously, that was a good finish to the tournament.

I can't imagine the hubris it takes to just expect someone to accept the money you have if it isn't enough. I know the cab driver overreacted, but that defendant was a douchebag. I'm not sure if it had a meter or not, but if you only have a fixed amount why not tell that to cabbie up front and let cabbie decide if he wants to take the fare? Also, as much as I hate that we are a tipping society, we are. To get in a cab with $30 expecting it to be $30 is a dick move. If I go to a full-service restaurant I'm factoring the tip into my meal. The cab industry wonders why Uber and Lyft are cutting into their business. I like knowing what the price is and having the tip already included. Plus the cars are way nicer than the shitboxes that pass for cabs where I live. That's my long way of saying I hated both litigants.

That game category was crazy for me, too. I just stared at the clues, trying to figure out what language they were written in. I'm happy with the result of the game. I feel bad for disliking a kid, but such is my feeling about Michael. I felt joy when he ended up with zilch.

I wish the writers would stop using gay male characters as punch lines. It's lazy and offensive. Other than that, I liked this episode. It's been a strong season for SNL.

The women sharing or not sharing a horse were stupid. What the hell kind of agreement was that? I'm going to come and do all the work and in exchange I get to..... be around your horse. If they're friends, why couldn't she be around the horse without providing free labor and materials? While the Motown case was silly, I loved it because of MM's reactions to the list of musicians they cover. I'm a huge Motown fan, so seeing MM speak so lovingly about my favorite kind of music made melove her just a little more. The rim dispute was weird. I do appreciate that TPC gets the most interesting cases of all the court shows I've seen. But I've never understood the rims thing. I'm a car lover, but I still don't get it. And it's usually people who can ill-afford it spending their money on freaking rims. There's a rent to own rim shop a few miles from my house. I shake my head at it every time I drive past. This guy's rims weren't that expensive, but I know some, people, spend thousands on them. Thousands! I must be getting old. Any errors in my writing are solely attributable to Stella Artois. I'm a little tipsy this evening.

I was stuck in the eddy pool too. I didn't like the winner at all, and will be glad when we get back to regular games.
-
And charging $200 per set to do it! I hung up two TVs for a friend and all I got was a six pack of beer. I guess I bid too low!
-
Thanks. I haven't left; I'm usually lurking. You guys seem to cover things well enough by the time I've watched the episode that I don't have anything to add!
