I said Augusta National but didn't say the golf club part.

I'm not sure if you're being snarky but president and engineer equals Hoover.

I had to wait until they showed the category again before I got FJ. How did they miss Hoover???? I guess the former champ can't go home since she missed a history DD. That pre-game chatter put me in a sour mood. If I married a heart surgeon, no one would expect me to be able to perform bypass surgery! It was a bad game culminated by bad wagering. Boo hiss indeed.

I thought Annapolis was a bad guess for FJ. Are the academies considered "state schools?" When I think of a state school, I think of a school run by state employees, like my alma maters, Penn State and the Univ. of Arizona. I wouldn't choose a military academy. Other than the bad FJ guess, I liked Jon and will miss him. The new champ has a weird vocal tic at the end of her statements (is it vocal fry?) She also had a habit of reading full category names, which drives me crazy. I did like her story about how she met her hubby on a train. I once got stuck on a slow-ass train, the first and last time I traveled via Amtrak, and the only thing I got out of it was a backache. Method of Modern Love is one of my karaoke jams. It's a favorite of the Hall & Oates catalog for me, but I often have people come up to me after I sing it and ask about it because they never heard it. I also got D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Sam reminded me of Ralph Kramden. I would say Jackie Gleason, but all I could think of was Art Carney calling our "Ralphie Boy!" For the first time ever, I ran an opera and ballet category. I also got Aaron Copeland and Donna Karan.

Not everyone here is rooting for LoLo. I'm still team Tara and Joey. I feel like they've been the most competent racers of the three teams remaining. Joey was a bit of an ass but I'm still cool with him winning. I'm an Army vet named Tara, so I have a soft spot for that team.

I had no clue on FJ even though I am a child of the 80s. Comic books just weren't my jam, and I never saw the movie. Or is it movies? No idea. After Jeopardy, I watched Amazing Race, and the contestants had to play a video game I didn't understand. Let's just say I felt old and unhip after my TV viewing last night!

Why do you want the show to be cancelled just because you don't like it? There are hundreds of other things to watch. If i don't like a show, I just watch something else. I've never understood the demand to have a show cancelled. Anyway, I feel about gaming the way Tara does. It wasn't fun to watch on TV either. But I'm glad they made it to the finals. As long as the screeching whiner doesn't win, I'm fine. Anyone but Brooke, who is one of the nastiest racers I've seen on the show.

I love my Tempurpedic mattress. I don't know how heavy the frame is, but I don't think it weighs as much as that plaintiff's. My girlfriend and I have moved it by ourselves. Regarding Section 8, some tenants do pay a deposit even though Section 8 helps with the rent, or sometimes pays enough to cover all the rent. My mother rented her house out to a Section 8 tenant years ago and much preferred doing it that way. She knew the rent would be paid on time every month. Of course, success with it depends on if you get a nutjob like the plaintiff or just a regular poor person who needs some help.

Why would a public education be useless? Were you being facetious? I'm glad Tanya is gone. Sometimes I just have a negative reaction to a contestant. I thought she was too loud and took too long to select clues.

My ABC affiliate cut in right before FJ. It ticked me off because the news comes on right after Jeopardy anyway. They interrupt Jeopardy a lot where I live, and it's always for something that could've waited. As for the show, I didn't care for the new champ, so I guess it's better that I didn't see her win. She was getting on my nerves.

It was nice to see Dateline do a local case, but I missed the suspense because I already knew the outcome. What I didn't understand was why it took so long to identify the wife's skull. During the airing of the episode, our local NBC affiliate aired a teaser about the convicted fire chief. Anyone who didn't know the outcome would've been spoiled. I guess they figured if you live in Tucson you know how it ended. ETA one of my girlfriend's friends was on the first jury and was one of the two who voted for convicting. She was really upset that it ended up a hung jury because she thought itwas obvious he did it.

I didn't see the episode, but amen to your original point. I was in a car that was in the center of a chain reaction accident. I was slammed into from behind and pushed into the car in front of me. Of the five cars involved, I was the only one who had insurance (welcome to Philadelphia.) So everyone sued me, even though I wasn't at fault. I spent the next year having to travel back and forth from my home in the Poconos to Philly to keep testifying in various lawsuits regarding this accident. My insurance company defended me perfectly, but I had to take off a lot of time from work, spend my own gas, and put wear and tear on my car to appear in court.

Mary lost me during her interview. When someone asks why you do something, "why not" seems like a petulant answer to me.

As soon as someone self-proclaims to be a mama bear, it invalidates anything else they say to me. I can't stand that attitude. And, yes, they're a nightmare for us teachers.

That happened this year with my yearbook class. Why in the world would anyone think kids with severe discipline issues would do well in a class that's producing an actual product? At one point, I had three students in the class who were on security guard escort because they couldn't even be trusted to pass classes on their own without getting in trouble! It was a nightmare, and I ended up basically just working with two or three students who really wanted to do it and managing behaviors the rest of the time. I told them not to think for a second I'll do that class again next year, unless I can hand-pick my students.

Newport was our summer vacation spot when we still lived in PA. Now that I'm in Arizona, we go to San Diego or Mexico. But I love Newport and have toured most of the cottages there. I was sad that one went unanswered. The only reason I know Wings is from watching Jeopardy. That being a TS makes me think these three contestants aren't regular viewers. They ask about Wings enough that a regular viewer would know it, I think. Speaking of regular viewing, I took an informal survey of the group of teachers I hang out with. Of the ten of us, I am the only one who watches Jeopardy regularly. Where we live, it comes on at 4:30 pm, so I think some of them would watch it if it came on in its traditional time slot before/after Wheel of Fortune in the evenings. I have to DVR it to see it because I'm rarely home from work that early. Jeopardy is a show that rewards regular viewers, since the clue writers tend to go back to the same well over and over again.

I'm a teacher and should definitely try out for the tournament. I think I'd do quite well, based on how I've fared at home. That being said, it saddens me to think people are watching this at home and thinking teachers aren't smart. I work with teachers who are incredibly smart. Also, didn't Colby come out of the Teachers' Tournament a few years ago? He was annoying but one of the sharpest players I've seen on Jeopardy. I think he did well in the TOC that year, too.

If this show gets renewed and Trial & Error doesn't, NBC will be dead to me. While I don't hate this show, it doesn't make me laugh. I'm not even sure why I am still watching it. Trial & Error was laugh-out-loud funny for me.

I think so. I got FJ immediately and figured they all would. Oh well. Alan is fine for me.

I said, "Who is Jennifer Jawrence?" I like Melissa McCarthy and have since Gilmore Girls, but didn't even think of her.
-
Why can't she get her hair done before going on TV?
-
These new cases have been boring to me. After such a long break i expected more!
-
If those types of ads keep the show on the air, I'm okay with it. Whether or not they are keeping the show on the air, I have no idea. I've never researched Jeopardy's ratings, but I suspect Wheel of Fortune does better, what with their popsicle bikes and such.

A lot of us made that point at the time the comment was originally posted. It's easy to take one post you disagree with and comment on it, but that's an unfair characterization of how that thread went, in my opinion.
