  1. The National Debt Relief commercial with its horrible song makes me STABBY.
  2. I love the looks on the guys faces when she says she wants something... longer
  3. I watched most of the Crossword Mysteries episode that reran last night (the one where Tess is taking magic lessons) but I got too sleepy so I'll have to finish it another time. I was surprised to realize that while I've gotten to the point that I can't stand Lacey Chabert in the holiday and romance movies, I actually like her in this series. Her co-star (Brennan Elliot?) helps a lot. Rowr.
  4. I just recently saw this Book of the Month Club commercial. Hilarious!
  5. Ah, you said that the chefs are told what to cook with such authority, I thought you had some insider knowledge ☺️ Today's rerun definitely seemed like assigned dishes for the most part. GZ's omelet and elegant salad seemed authentic to him, and I can buy Katie choosing sheet pan "fried" rice, but Alex's stuffed bell peppers... not so much. I did hedge by saying often, LOL. I watched a couple of Supermarket Stakeouts and it occurred to me that Alex's oddly forced smiles on it and The Kitchen remind me of Dexter being taught by his stepfather to act normal to fit in.
  6. I agree. Why she doesn't film inside her own home and why she is filming outside during the winter instead of in a safe indoor space somewhere are separate issues. It seems that the latter is her choice, so okay, but it's weird and the way it's been handled hasn't made for good cooking or good entertainment. Huh. I can totally see this for some of the ridiculous stuff they make, but why do they bother to have skilled chefs (particularly GZ and Alex) if they're just going to cook a recipe that a producer chose? Now I want to see GZ make a frozen lasagna and chef it up with, idk, some bottled Italian dressing. Maybe that's a reason that I like the filmed at home episodes so much more - they seem more personal and genuine. I guess these hosts are putting on Emmy-worthy acting performances, because I often believe their stories that the food they make is actually what they cook at home.
  7. According to this article, she doesn't film in her kitchen because she wants to protect her privacy. I respect that. https://www.distractify.com/p/why-is-sunny-always-outside-on-the-kitchen
  8. The photos of the National Guard members sleeping on the floor of the Capitol so they will be there to protect us from our fellow citizens who can't accept elections results are heartbreaking. Thanks to Spike for feeding them!
  9. I love Anthony Mason's pieces on musicians. It's clear that he loves music and respects the people who make it, and that he recognizes the meaning and power of music in our lives.
  10. Well, it's because her shirt is wrinkled! Once she uses Wrinkle Guard, the same scenario occurs and Joshy is all cool with it. Wrinkle Guard: use it and you can fuck all day without grossing out your grandkids.
  11. It's snowing in Austin! A pretty unusual occurrence.
  12. That flew right over my head until you pointed it out!
  13. The way she turns and walks away says it all. Even though I find the musicians singing "scoops, there it is" and the mom and then the dad getting into it hilarious.
  14. Well whoa, I'm going to have to look that one up! Hallmark managed to make the flaming hot Adrian Grenier look bland and boring. It's their superpower, apparently.
  15. YES. I realized that I left out the wink as she waltzes away. It just makes her look like that much more of a jerk to me. There is nothing about the ads for this show that make me want to see it.
  16. The one with Joanna saying "box this stuff up so I don't have to cook when I get home" works my nerve. Isn't the set her pretend "home kitchen" i.e. she is already at home? And for her to order her minions who undoubtedly cooked all of the food she pretended she made to box it up for her just burns me up. I actually liked her and Chip when Fixer Upper started but boy, the bloom has been off that rose for a long time. I'm glad they'll be on Discovery+ and I'm also happy to learn that Robert Irvine will be joining them there. Maybe The Pioneer Woman can hitch up her wagon and roll on over there, too!
  17. I love the way that he lets the Live Love Laugh sign-owner put it in the trash can while everyone applauds, but by the time the other woman says "No fussin', no cussin'" he snatches the sign and throws it away with some force. It seems even Dr. Rick can reach a breaking point😄
  18. I was trying to recall yesterday whether it was in this episode that June, in a voiceover explaining how Gilead took over the US, said something like, "The first thing they did was slaughter Congress." 😢
  19. Still loving the Liberty Mutual "Christmas morning" ad where one kid is so excited to get insurance bundling and the other is disappointed and mad about getting a bike and kicks the bike. The best is the Mom's face at the end - she's so nerdy and hilarious.
  20. I was impressed that he cut the pork tenderloin into medallions and it wasn't overcooked, but I'm not so sure it would be easy for a home cook to accomplish. Pork tenderloin can go overcooked in a minute. Plus, what do you do with the very skinny end of the tenderloin that isn't suitable for medallions? I'm also curious @butterbody about whether your family/guests tasted the turnips. I find that they can be bitter, even when cooked. I think a rutabaga may have been better for that recipe, because in my experience, they tend to get sweet when cooked. As someone noted upthread, they are a great addition to chicken soup.
  21. Don't forget the debt relief ads. It makes me sad that a lot of people use credit cards to spend money they don't have during the holidays to live up to the pressure of consumerism.
