  1. She probably does pronounce it 'Bri'ne', as do many. I have friends with relatives with that have this name and they say Bri'ne, or maybe with an ever so soft pronunciation of the T. In any case, it comes off as a 2 syllable name instead of the 3 syllable word that it really is. And these are folks from the Midwest, west coast, south and not just N.E. where I am originally from. I don't understand the desire to have to be right about this and to make snark about it when it's already been determined that it's a regional thing or maybe it's just the Correct way to pronounce some words. If you take a word with 2 Ts and actually pronounce both Ts hard, it comes off as sounding like two words, i.e. kiT Ten, coT Ten, etc.. as you actually have to pause to hear the 2 Ts. I don't hear anybody saying those words like that. And I was taught the phonics way also, albeit in a public, non-denominational neighborhood schools in Massachusetts.
  2. You are not necessarily ALWAYS reaching over open pots of food when cooking. It would depend on how many burners you got going and if you do have several going at once, maybe they have covers on them. But he was only baking one cake - I think - which wouldn't require any "reaching over". Plus, he was only preparing food for himself and Carol AT HOME, not for the public or other guests, so he could cook in the nude if he so desired.
  3. Sorry if it's already been addressed, as I'm only on page 3 of the forum, but is Carol's pronunciation of kitten really odd? Having been born and raised in New England myself (now a West Coaster), it seems correct to me to say ki'en, bi'en, Manhat'en, etc.. Actually, almost all words with two Ts together, the T's are kinda silent. I don't even think non Northeasterners pronounce the 2 Ts. I'll have to pay closer attention. In any case, it's not a matter of Carole not being able to annunciate, as implied, it's most likely a regional thing. Cot'en Rot'en
  4. Several empty baking pans? I didn't notice, but so what? He's cooking for himself, why does he need to wear sleeves? Your post puzzles me. Re: Jules marriage, all I can say is WOW, that was fast! So many were commenting on here on previous epis how nice they were together, such a sweet couple, etc. etc.,. Now, not so much. Yeah, somebody said it earlier, but they need to rename this show, The Ex-Wives of NY. I thought the episode where Bethenny wrote off Sonja and Ramona had the fight with John was the best ever, but I think this may top that one. What with Luann telling Sonja about Tom, ever so nonchalantly, not caring about Sonja's feelings, then Ramona telling Lu about some girlfriend, life love, of Tom. That was also so hard hearted, to do on camera, while Lu is getting her hair done! Jeesh, Ramona, couldn't you wait until her hair was done and told her in confidence, so if she wanted to breakdown, she could do it in private! Then, the meeting between Lu and Bethenny at the restaurant (?). Luann seemed to be on something, she was so aggressive and careless about what she was saying and what Beth was saying. She was just going to have it her way in this dialogue no matter if Bethenny is bleeding to death or what! She offers Beth to have another glass of wine, but then has to leave real fast. I hope this guy isn't doing a number on Lu, because I'm sensing a real crash waiting for her and I think she is becoming unhinged. Weird. Oh, then the dinner between Dorinda and Jules and their SOs. Dorinda started off so compassionate and comforting, then, I guess after a few drinks, she was on another planet! The arms and hands are going everywhere, she's talking miles a minute and poor Jules was like, Lord Help me! I'm trapped with a crazy person. I was cracking up! This was a good episode!
  5. Yeah, but it wasn't sarcasm. It was, as said before, rude.
  6. But it was also a sleep over where pjs are expected to be worn. I thought they were cute (on her). Looked quite comfy.
  7. What event was she late for? I'm racking my brain for all the events they had and I'm sure I don't remember them all, but of the ones I can remember, (the latest at Dorinda's, last season's Ramona's party finale, Ramona's party last episode, the bra fitting party, Sonja's fake model shopping thing), I don't recall her being late.
  8. I don't think she even did that much putting it together. Completely store bought and reheated. I think I saw her removing some store bought appetizers from their box and onto a tray, too. Plus, when they dug into it, it was so mushy looking, dead giveaway that it was store bought. That being said, I have no issue with it as I could get down with some (certain) store bought lasagna. Heck, now I want some lasagna !! I think I'll have to put my own 'killa' recipe lasagna together this weekend.
  9. Uumm, very interesting perspective. Although I wouldn't say it was an attack so much as it was piggybacking off her brand. Which in Sonja's mind was a compliment. Whether B has the power to get Sonja booted or not, I feel she was in her rights to decide she didn't want anything to do with Sonja after the Tipsy Girl debacle. Let the chips fall where they may, but unlike what a lot of posters are saying, I'm not so sure that Bethenny has all this power that others seem to think she has.
  10. No, you're not. I don't even think her whole behavior was shameful. Over the top a bit, sure. But Lu ticked her off and she went off. It happens. I did think it was rude to try to leave without thanking Dorinda, but they did rethink that and went back to to just that.
  11. O.k., I figured out how to get a comment in here in time! You have to start reading before the show even airs in your time zone - west coast here - then you have to follow the show and get in your comment while watching. LOL! That last thread was off the chain and any thing that I wanted to comment on was already previously addressed. So, regarding the arguments between Lu and B, Lu gave as good as she got, IMO. I think the point that was missing was the reason B went into overdrive was because Lu kept baiting and threw in the 'you need to get laid, when was the last time you got laid" bit. Such a comment would have made me ballistic too, implying that my disposition, attitude would be determined by if I got laid recently. It wasn't a one way argument that was all started by Bethenny. If Lu didn't egg on, it would have ended a lot sooner. At this point, I can't remember all the details, even after just rewatching the episode prior to tonight's episode, but I did note that Luann was instigating and obfuscating instead of being straight with her responses/answers to Beth's pronouncements/questions. Regarding the 'slut shaming', while some may wish such derogatory names and ideas would be past us in this day and age, it's not the way it is. If you broadcast your sexual exploits and they are a lot, or if it becomes known that you're a good time girl, you may be a slut. In this area, discretion is everything. Have your fun, sleep with whoever, whenever but it doesn't have to be the world's business. Whatever happened to modesty? That also goes for whatever you decide to do to you're vagina! Good Grief, Sonja! You are way too old to do such a scene as that in the doctors office! Oh, am I 'age shaming' ?? Sorry, not sorry.
  12. Good points. I forgot about that night out when Kelly hung out with them also. And yes, it was Lu that invited her but didn't let Beth know. It was not for nothing that Beth blew her top at LuAnn.
  13. Woohoo! Catching a RHNY Marathon from the 1st season right now! Alex and Simon, Jill, all the kiddies. Oh Memories!
  14. I was puzzled by that too, but it just occurred to me reading your post, that maybe it had to do with being kosher and having to use "clean" plates and stuff. I'm sure someone will either verify or be just as confused.
  15. Wow! Best - Episode - Ever! Enjoyed every uncomfortable, dysfunctional, crazy, lunatic & lighthearted moment! Well, except for the one moment where the Moana demeaned her "friend" Luann by blurting out what type of sexual feats she does. I can't even repeat it here on the boards, but don't believe that such an act is possible. Sheeze, Ramona, you show just how unclassy you are time and time again. And breaking the wine glass on the table! Sonja got what she deserved fro Bethenny. You don't do that (ripping off their successful brand) to friends. She could have at least talked to her about it beforehand. She's such a lamebrain
  16. Sorry, my attempt to quote didn't work. Will try again.
  17. Remember when Dorinda and Carole went to London together and she told Carole that her deceased husband and John were good friends? I find that disloyalty on John's part, and just cringy, creepy or something. Some might not find anything wrong with hooking up with your deceased friend's wife, but I can't go there. Especially when Dorinda is always gloating and talking about how much of a good man Richard was.
  18. I seem to have to keep asking questions, but who is cowering in fear over Bethenny? Most of the ladies, if they have an issue with her, will talk to her about it. The only one I see not confronting her is Dorinda. But I just saw Luann having an airing out with her about not being invited to Kyle's shindig. In previous seasons, we saw Sonja get into it with her and When she first came back, we saw her and Ramoana mix it up. I find most of these ladies will call out someone right away rather than let things fester, unlike the BH crowd. Heather might be a take no prisoners type, but in her initial scrap with Bethenny, she inserted herself into a situation that was none of her business which rubbed B the wrong way, thus the set up of their contentious personalities. Carol gets along with the type A's, Heather and Bethenny, because she is the counterbalance, IMHO. I don't think she's up anyone's butt, she's just a more mellow person who jells with Bethenny. I don't have a strong feeling one way or another about Carole, but feel she is a needed element to the show.
  19. Why does someone need to step up to Bethenny? Other than John, has she gotten in someone's face? (Although in this instance, John got in hers 1st). I'm reading all these posts about mean, nasty, arrogant , queen been Bethenny, but I just don't see what you all are seeing. The house comment wasn't nasty, just an observation and a little unsolicited advice about dragging a remodel out for 7 years! In all likelihood, one would lose money on constant redo's and resale if so much is put into a project, especially if it's not in a prime location. Unless you plan on never selling the place and from my observations, rich folks are always selling their beautiful homes for more beautiful homes. Also, her and Carole talking under their breath about Jules not eating was another observation between 2 friends. They weren't being mean to Jules as their jibes where just between the two of them. I've enjoyed moments like that with my besties. It's what close friends sometimes do, right or wrong. Face it, snarking on people is what spices up a friendship as long as it doesn't go any further to cause hurt. The same thing about her comments on Jules weight. Who wouldn't, upon meeting a friend's friend who appears to be abnormally skinny, wouldn't say something to that affect with their close friend. This is what close friends do sometime. Unfortunately, as flawed humans, we don't always act in pristine ways. As it turns out, Beth was right on about that. On another note, didn't Ramona open up a sports bar last season with a male partner? Has it been mentioned at all thus far? I'm curious as to what is happening to that endeavor? This and LuAnns situation is perplexing to me. Why is LuAnn having to stay at Sonja's house? Didn't she have a place in the city last year? And what happened with her apartment hunting just an episode or so ago? Why hasn't she signed a lease yet? Maybe it's due to the editing and I missed something, but have these issued been addressed? Please excuse the slew of questions, but I find that I miss a lot of statements they make because the editing of the scenes gets so jumpy sometimes.
  20. No, lasandi, you are not alone. I agree with your whole post and consider Bethenny my favorite of ALL the HW franchises. I just never posted a lot because of my inability to use these boards efficiently. I could never get a handle on quoting other posters to respond so if I tried to respond to a comment, it always went to the end of the sequence. Therefore, I became more of a lurker than a participant. This new format works better in that regard, so I can participate in the forum more! Yeeah!
  21. No, it was incumbent on Dorinda & John to greet Bethenny first when entering her home (or property) for HER birthday gathering. Then John should have made an immediate attempt to apologize for his brutish behavior the other night. That's just good old fashion manners. So it was J & D that made it awkward, not B. I wonder if he would have approached her like he did if Bethenny had a man beside her that night? I don't think so. Then he had the nerve to try to attempt a generic non apology apology and when B tried to get him to acknowledge what he should actually be apologizing for, he gets all defensive - like WTH! Well, I thought she was more gracious than she had to be by realizing that they weren't going to see eye to eye and walked away determined to not let his presence ruin the event for her or Dorinda. Other than that, I enjoyed the episode. Compared to the Bev. Hills crowd, this BBQ felt so much more real.
  22. I don't get why Beth is a bitch for not approaching John to settle the issue between them when he and Dorinda arrived at the BBQ. I was raised with the notion that when you enter a person's home, it is proper etiquette that you greet and acknowledge the householder. I thought John and Dorinda complete ignoramus to not greet Bethenny when they came into the party, so I don't blame Beth one bit for ignoring them, especially John. I also don't get why Dorinda didn't talk to Beth beforehand about still bringing John. But after all the awkwardness of trying to avoid each other, I thought it was better of Bethenny to try to clear the air so that they could have a better time. Although it didn't go so well because John proved to be an arrogant ass.
