  1. Daemon singing a lullaby to Vermithor tho, so cute. Not sure what the purpose was, but cute in a 'hit a bum note and you'll be incinerated' way.
  2. RIP Lucerys, Arrax & baby Targ. 😭 Well done Aemond, the consequences of your dumbfuckery will be a war that'll result in the death of tens of thousands, hope losing an eye was worth it, bloody dumbass. ⚔️ Daemon throttling Rhaenrya - was a 'huh?' moment for me, wtf? His motivation there went right over my head like a 747 - whoosh. Clearly it didn't bother her too much as they were holding hands later in the ep. #Iconfusion I realllllllllllly wanted to see Otto toasted like a fucking marshmallow by Syrax goddammit! Gah. Why can't I have nice things, whyyyy? Is it 2024 yet? Welcome to the Long Night folks... welp.
  3. Please do not discuss events from episode 10 or post any spoilers from it in here - or anywhere on the HOTD forum - until after it has officially aired.
  4. Not dissimilar from cutting the Daemon comforting his daughters scene; show's gonna do what show's gonna do.
  5. It's in the hands of the dev gods - and presumably relatively low on their priority list atm. It most definitely isn't off the table (or I would have posted to let everyone know and this topic would have been sunsetted), however, unfortunately no eta can be given at this time. Your patience is appreciated, thanks.
  6. FYI Episode 10 has leaked online early. We do not allow discussion of episodes unless they have officially aired. Anyone posting spoilers before then will be suspended from posting.
  7. Yes, here it's an equal opportunity insult. Men call men it (this is probably the way it's most often used tbh), women call men it (not unusual) and so on and so forth. And while it may be considered a top tier insult, it isn't too far above 'bastard' nowdays. However, some people will still spell it out a la "see you next Tuesday". Additionally, insulting each other jokingly is pretty common, esp among close friends who we're comfortable around; ex. 'you lucky bastard'. It's all in the context. Generally speaking, if we're super polite, we either don't know you very well or just don't like you, heh. I didn't make the rules, I just know them 😉
  8. I mean, I couldn't not repost this... 🤣
  9. Saw this on a Youtuber's vid and took a screenshot 🤣
  10. I'm not going to argue for or against what she did as the viewer part of me enjoyed the scene but the analytical part of me went 'wut?' but whhhyyyyy? #mixedemotions However, speaking of ramifications, one message it surely sent loud and clear to the smallfolk - is that there's a blatant divide over the legitimacy of Aegon's coronation, so things aren't as clear cut as the Hand portrayed them to be... and
  11. He's a smarmy, smug, hateful, bitter little twat. Simples. But don't get it twisted, I also loathe Otto et al, heh, but Krispy gives me a visceral reaction and makes me wanna puke. Jmo. Blech. As an authority on myself - I must protest. As a book reader - I have loathed him for years before the show was a twinkle in anyone's eye. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  12. Quite. For all his treacherous machinations, Otto isn't so smart. Even Tyrion knew that it's hard to leash a dog once you put a crown on its head. That theory is a no-go as Jacaerys & Lucaerys (and Joffrey who was given an egg as a babe) already have dragons of their own. Yes. Except Krispy Kreme still breathes.
  13. And Otto aka wannabe kingmaker?
  14. No, committing the act of killing a child yourself is as irredeemable as it gets imo*. Something which Bronn admitted he would do for the right price, yet afaik copped no fandom ire for it, in fact he was a fan fav... go figure. Ordering the murder of a child comes in a close second, for if there were no-one willing to commit such an act, the ordering of it would amount to nothing more than desiring it unless you did it yourself, which brings us back to point 1. *Aemond The either/or you have given amounts to the character can't win no matter what. Either he's the blackest of villains or the writers have whitewashed him. The problem I have with that is the use of both Watsonian and Doylist viewpoints in tandem to damn him, which puts the character in the can't win corner, with the two coming from wholly different perspectives. We either go with what they give us and he's a total villain, he's an anti-hero or he's complex (bit of both), depending on what plays out on the screen, it's as simple as that. To state 'he's being whitewashed' is no different that saying 'he's being blackened' a la Lady Royce - imo it's a futile argument to participate in. The show is the show and the books are the books, for better or for worse.
  15. To level the precise same criticism at Alicent and especially at Otto, that has been aimed at Rhaenyra (about her two eldest boys) repeatedly; why weren't they (even if secretly) preparing Aegon to rule? Otto had been harping on about it since Aegon was a baby, yet he did nothing about it whatsoever apparently. Not even installing him as the royal cupbearer as Rhaenyra once was... (if not before, then certainly after, Viserys was incapacitated - when the Greens were, for all intents and purposes, running the show) let alone anything else (covertly at least), despite having every intention of putting the crown on his head... 🤔 hmm. Instead, they left him unchecked to fill his time with every kind of debauchery Flea Bottom had to offer & worse. Top notch training right there! To flip Tyland Lannister's own words; "Yes, he knows how to ride a dragon but what does he know of running the Seven Kingdoms?" Answer: Less than zip, zero, zilch.

  17. Reminder: There is open air book talk here. If you are just watching the TV show and you don't want to stumble into any book talk you should leave now. Book Talk assumes you have read any of the related books to date.
  18. Reminder: This is for discussion of the TV show only, no book talk allowed - including saying "but it's different in the books". Any other spoilers (previews, media articles, etc) and HotD extras (After The Episode, Behind The Scenes, etc) should be in spoiler tags.
  19. A thought that has occurred to me re Alicent misinterpreting Viserys last words; all Rhaenyra would have to do is ask Aegon if he knows 'the' prophecy - if the answer is no (which obvs it would be), then she would know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Alicent is talking out of her arse about Viserys naming Aegon his heir with his last breath. Not that it would matter now imo, Aegon has had a taste of what being king feels like and doubtless wouldn't care about some prophecy, but at least Alicent would be under no self-delusion about the part she played in what's to come. The knife being proof of said prophecy.
  20. While not incesty (well maybe a little in the latter), I submit two HBO series - The Tudors and Rome - if historical intrigue, sex & violence is your thang.
  21. You have read the episode threads, many seem to think he is the worst. Lol. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oh they have portrayed much non-heroic behaviour from Daemon; city watch street raid, attempted corruption of Rhaenyra, killing Lady Royce, to name the obvious ones. I am fully aware that Daemon is no hero and is an utter douchebag at times but I still far prefer him over Otto, Larys, Aegon & Aemond (Krispy Kreme doesn't even count imo). Talk about a rogue's gallery right there with zero redeeming qualities, lmao. If you're of the opinion that Aemond isn't supposed to have any charisma then the show got it spot on because he doesn't, and that is a major reason why he isn't Daemon's mini-me.
  22. Very true but Helaena seems to dislike physical contact from Alicent in particular, which would seem to indicate...something?. She was fine with physical contact with Jace when he offered her his hand to dance and with Aemond too (I don't recall when that occurred but have seen it mentioned in this topic a few times).
  23. Of course. I'm stating it as my own opinion, not fact. And my opinion remains unchanged regardless of anyone else's, including show-related folks.
  24. I advise you to never look up English monarchs and royal lines, heh. Williams, Georges and Henrys abound by the dozen.
  25. It's fine imo, Daemon has shown his true colours already, as in the good, the bad and the ugly. Aemond has shown the good and the bad but not the ugly, yet. ETA: In comparing the two, Daemon has charisma in spades and has shown deep familial love (incest pun not intended heh) and loyalty when it mattered. Aemond has little to no charisma and has only shown any affection for his sister, certainly none displayed for Aegon, Otto or Alicent let alone his father. As for his loyalty, well, he isn't exactly thrilled with his brother becoming king and stated aloud that he deserved it more (a desire Daemon never likewise expressed despite knowing his brother was a weak king - all he wanted was to be his brother's strong right Hand).
