  1. Though Colin Jost was a great guest last night! Very funny and charming. Now, I actually like him on Weekend Update on SNL, but he is quite different when he's not on Update. Like both times he's been on Late Night, and when he was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and other interviews I've seen. He's so much looser and sillier.
  2. Getting Reflective With Colin Jost, SNL's Most Resilient Comedian: https://mi.lk/feature/colin-jost-snls-most-resilient-comedian/?su=g89PhdL Pretty good article. He took the criticism from when he first started Update pretty hard (can't say I blame him).
  3. The Glee part got me too...I used to watch that show (please don't judge me...), and was wondering if SNL would touch on the Mark Salling news. Then they did! Vanessa's kid reporter character makes me laugh. Unfortunately, Chris Stapleton is the exception, and not the norm in current country music. And I say that as a huge country music fan. I'm hoping with his appearance on SNL, and his performance with Justin Timberlake at the CMA Awards in November (which is how I was first introduced to him), more people will be exposed to him, and buy his music. He is amazing, and his album "Traveller" is by far the best album purchase I've made in quite some time. I loved both of his performances last night. That dorky thumbs up cracked me the hell up, and the "Michael masturbating in Colin's office" as well. As their chemistry and rapport keeps improving, Weekend Update is one of the things I most look forward to every week. I know some people don't like this, but I like that they chime in with commentary on each other's jokes, and that you can hear them laughing at each other's jokes. I think the Golden Globe sketch was my favorite of the night. Kate and Kyle were actually so cute as the kids, and Vanessa and Adam as the hard partying parents was hilarious. Overall, Adam Driver impressed me as the host.
  4. Everyone is all aghast that Alek ended up in third place and that he is going on this tour, but obviously he was getting a lot of viewer votes, to have never been in jeopardy (or announced in jeopardy- which may have propelled his fans to vote more) once. If I lived in the states, this would certainly be motivation for me to get a ticket to a show on on the tour. Definitely more so than the PenaVegas. Alek wasn't the best dancer, but I enjoyed so many of his dances, and do think he is a good dancer. And I do think he is charismatic, and handsome, and funny. He proved that on the show. (To each their own.) I certainly don't think he's trying to "build a show biz career". If he has a chance to travel the country to go on tour and make some money doing it, why would he turn that down?
  5. I rewatched the show on the weekend, and as much as I loved Alek/Lindsay's waltz, I didn't think it deserved a perfect score. One ten would've been fine, or maybe even all 9s. I thought that if any dance deserved a perfect score, it was their trio dance. That Argentine Tango with Emma was incredible. Alek's footwork was fantastic, he had amazing chemistry with both Emma AND Lindsay, and it was hella sexy. That being said I am glad they got a perfect score at all!
  6. Agreed! This was one of the highlights of the night for me! So hot. Would've loved to see more pro/troupe dances tonight. They could've easily cut out the dance-off (although admittedly this dance-off was better than the one a couple of weeks ago). Ugh...I agree...I can't stand Carlos, but I loved that dance. I was even upset that Carrie Ann didn't give it a 10. (And also, as much as I adore Alek and dislike Carlos, he clearly won that dance-off...why did Carrie Ann vote for Alek?!?!) And then I felt gross for letting that upset me, because... Tee hee...best comment ever! First of all, that bit about his wife is ridiculous. I'm a huge Nick/BSB fan, and I think his wife saved his life. He seems so healthy, happy, and great right now, and I would credit his wife for that. She seems like a lovely person. People need to grow the hell up. That being said, I also have not been consistent in my voting for Nick...and I think the reason is due to what truthaboutluv so eloquently stated in the post above. My votes have mostly been going to Alek. Because from week to week he has impressed me with his dancing, humility, personality, etc. Especially given he's never done anything like this before. And I'm sure this is happening for other people as well. I doubt Nick has really gained any fans/votes throughout the duration of the season. Unfortunately, his dancing has been so up and down, and he hasn't really WOWed. (I did throw him a couple of votes tonight because he was at the bottom of the leaderboard.) I was surprised this didn't get at least one 10. I thought the choreography of Lindsay and Emma being two scorned lovers, and Alek playing them both was cleverm and this Argentine Tango was sexy. I didn't think it lost steam at then end either...also LOVED Alek and Lindsay's waltz. Gorgeous choreography, and the pre-dance package made me adore Alek all the more. ETA: Aaron Carter is looking rough...he looks older than Nick!
  7. Not sure where to post it, but this thread seems like the best bet! Please let me know if this should go elsewhere... People posted an article about how they'll be filling in the extra time now that they're down a dancer for Monday. I facepalmed so hard my forehead practically concaved. So dumb. But the article also has information that didn't make me want to bash my head against the wall, like who all the trio partners will be and some of the songs being danced to. Enjoy! http://www.people.com/article/dancing-stars-who-is-returning-tamar-braxton-exit?xid=socialflow_facebook_peoplemag
  8. treeofdreams, thank you for that eloquent post! Pretty much sums up why I too am happy that Alek is still here.
  9. First and foremost, thoughts and prayers going out to Tamar. I can't believe she actually showed up in time for the team dance. I thought she looked great in it! But now I hope she takes the time to rest and feel better. Scary stuff. Here's my thoughts on each dance (not necessarily in order, because I drink wine while watching this show, and it makes things a little foggy...): 1. Alek and Lindsay: I feel like I'm the only fan of Alek left on this board. Obviously he's not the best dancer left in the competition. In fact, he may be the worst of all the dancers left. However, I am still rooting for him. To have literally no dancing experience before the show started to go to this is pretty impressive. I think he has learned alot, and is a joy to watch. He seems to be having fun, and just seems like a genuinely good guy. And I think he is trying as hard as he damn well can. Also the pre-dance package was hilarious! Poor dude getting his chest waxed. Loved seeing Bindi and Carlos getting in on the action! 2. Alexa and Mark: This dance was stunning. What an amazing concept, and the execution was incredible as well. I really grew to love Alexa and Mark's partnership. And kudos to her for sharing her story about bulimia. I really adore Alexa. 3. Carlos and Witney: Bleh. I'm sorry, but something about this dude just bugs me. He just seems so phony and desperate. And this song was a weird one to do an Argentine Tango to. I never see in Carlos' dances what the judges see. 4. Bindi and Derek: The pre-dance package was the least suspenseful thing ever. Derek could choreograph me brushing my teeth, and it would still be amazing. The drammmmmaaaaa was unnecessary. That being said, I loved this dance. Even with the obvious Bindi-pimping/tongue bathing from the judges. And the song they danced to was gorgeous! Think I'll be buying it from iTunes for sure. Thanks Mark and BC (I think that's her name? And not just a province in Canada. WHAT UP fellow Canadians!) 5. Tamar and Val: That whole thing was so awkward, with the judging of the rehearsal package. I thought it was a lovely dance though. Would have loved to see it performed live. l Felt so bad for Val throughout that whole mess. 6. Nick and Sharna: I really LOVED this. The choreography was so on point. And Nick was dapper and seemed to be having a blast. I think this was my favorite dance of the night! and HELLO Kevin, Howie, Brian, and AJ!!! My teeny bopping self (who I still am, let's be real) was freaking out seeing BSB in the audience! 7. We Will Rock You: *shrugs* I really liked this dance. Thought it had the energy that a Queen song should. And Alek and Carlos seemed like strong partners to the girls, and each other, but what do I know as the judges (and most people here) seemed to dislike it. 8. All That Jazz: AMAZING. Bindi and Alexa killed it! This choreography was awesome. and the girls and everyone executed it so well. 9. Hey Jude: I adored this. Everything worked for me. I think this was my favorite of the duet dances. Tamar and Nick were incredible, and Sharna and Val as always. Troupe added to the dance, but didn't detract from Nick or Tamar. She looked so out of it though. I hope she gets well soon :( Elimination: BOOOOOOOOO. I did not think Alexa should have gone home yet. She's been one of my faves since the season started. Producer shenanigans did her no favors. Wish Carlos has gone instead. Alek must be pulling in MAD votes to still be there (and I say this as a huge fan of his.) Overall, tonight = meh. I feel the judges are kind of useless this season.
  10. This thread has just become my favorite thing in the world for this very reason! Hi...I'm Sarah, and I too was...ok fine...still AM a BSB-acoholc. I still see every concert when they come to my city (the most recent being last May, and I lost my voice singing along and screaming, and bought a shirt, and I regret nothing. I just turned 30 last month, and Nick was always, and still is my favorite Backstreet Boy. He's the reason I'm even watching this season of DWTS. MY two best friends also loved Nick, my sister and her best friend loved Brian, and one of my cousins loved AJ. But Nick and Brian seemed to be the typical favorite for people I knew. I too own all of their CDs, and I regret nothing. They're actually still making pretty great music. And when I go to their concerts, people are singing along as much to the new stuff as they are the classics... Never Gone is probably my least favorite too. Except it did give me one of my favorite BSB songs, "Just Want You To Know". If we're talking favorite BSB CDs, as cliché as it is, mine to this day would probably still be Millennium. I bought it the day it came out (I remember borrowing my mom's car, and driving to Wal-Mart after school to get it with my best friend), and listened to it over, and over, and over again, memorizing all of the lyrics. I listened to all of the songs non-stop, but my absolute faves were "I Want It That Way" (duh), "It's Gotta Be You", "Don't Wanna Lose You Now", "Back To Your Heart", and "No One Else Comes Close". My junior high/high school crush had Nick Carter/Devon Sawa hair, and he borrowed my Black & Blue CD once because his group was doing "Shape of my Heart" for their airband performance in our drama class...that's totally relevant to all of this, right? This feels like BSB-therapy, so I'm sharing BSB >>> N'Sync FOR sure. It wouldn't surprise me if Nick was pulling in a lot of votes. He's had a few dud performances, but overall, has impressed me alot on the show! And it know a lot of fellow BSB fangirls (fanwomen? When you're past 30, I guess you're a fanwoman...fanlady?) who are watching this season only for Nick, and are voting.
  11. I agree with all of this. I also agree with Carrie Ann and Julianne that Lindsay should've given him some actual choreography. He's not advancing in difficulty because Lindsay's choreography isn't advancing in difficulty. He needs to prove himself, and we have seen Lindsay choreograph some good routines for him this season. Give him a chance to show what he's capable of. Yeah...it was pretty blatant. I still maintain that his best dance of the season was his Argentine Tango...which was with Sharna! I adore Andy, and really wish he would've had a different partner. But on the plus side, his being on the show got me to download all of his albums (I only had "Keep Your Head Up" and "Honey, I'm Good" before), and I am now a huge fan. Great, catchy music, and and awesome personality. This dude has it in spades! That dance off was pretty dumb. But I laughed pretty hard when Carrie Ann told Andy and Alek that they needed to learn how to samba, becaue yeah...that was not good. At least Andy went out on an awesome move/the worm!
  12. I guess I can skip this episode of Afterbuzz. Not really a big Louis fan at all, and it seems like he doesn't offer much dancing critique/commentary based on some of the comments here. Also as an Alek fan, I feel like it would just aggravate and upset me.
  13. I was never more grateful than I was during that song for the existence of wine. Whoever "sang" that needs to not sing it ever again. The fog/smoke/whatever during that song was ridiculous. And if it was that bad in the studio, i wonder how the judges could even see it. Carlos was overscored yet again, I felt. I agree with this. I want to adore Bindi. Heck, I DO adore Bindi. But the blatant favoritism from the judges and flattering producer edits are annoying me. The show is annoying when it comes to her. There are weeks where I've wanted to give her a vote or two, but I just can't do it. Thanks show... I agree his facial expressions were much better this week. I wonder if the emotional turmoil he's been through the past few weeks is getting to him (the mass shooting at his college and his best friend getting stabbed). It seems like since then, he's not been as strong as he was in the first few weeks of the competition. I don't think he's over it though. The douchey edit he got this week showed that. (He thought he was perfect last week...it's the judges fault he got such bad scores...really Alek? I adore you, but there is a problem when the 15 and 17 year olds are acting more mature than you.) I loved that Lindsay wasn't having any of that crap though. And that she doesn't seem to be letting up on him. Talking to Artem (who also wasn't having it) seemed to help too. And he didn't look mad at the judges scores this week (which weren't much better than last week). So hopefully he'll adjust his attitude, and keep working hard. Lindsay deserves it! Bindi, yes. But I really don't think Alek is a chosen one. The aformentioned douchey edit this week tells me that. And the low scores the judges keep throwing his way. Leah was so fun and funny last night. Can she please stay? I'm sure Erin would love to have the rest of the season off, right? RIGHT? Team Nightmare for sure outdanced Team Who You Gonna Call. But I loved both team dances. I thought Team Nightmare's was so creepy and cool, and well executed. That was some fun choreography. Team Who You Gonna Call had a fun dance, but for sure had some synchronicity issues (Julianne's 10 was puzzling)., which is weird because they seemed to be a more cohesive team unit. Sad to see Hayes go last night. Thought he had improved so much, and seems like a sweet kid. Hopefully being on this show will open some doors for him beyond Vine!
  14. Alek and Lindsay were on Access Hollywood Live! http://www.accesshollywood.com/videos/dwts-alek-skarlatos-lindsay-arnold-take-on-elvis/ Pretty good and funny interview. They are both so adorable and charming. (And Alek is hot. OK. That's enough of that.) They were not happy this the scores from this week. (I don't blame them.) And they also talk about their dance for next week, and about the "Emma situation".
  15. Much as I would've loved to give Nick & Sharna and Andy & Allison a vote or two this week, all of my votes went to Alek and Lindsay. I thought he did work on his facial expressions this week, and while they were still not perfect, he is trying so hard. Also, he keeps nailing Lindsay's choreography IMO, and she is choreographing routines with a lot of content. Alek is actually having to dance. And for someone who has never ever danced before, he continues to impress me from week to week. And I think this is now two weeks in a row where he has been underscored. I really want Alek to stick around a while longer. So while I'm sure the 9 Facebook votes I'm allowed to cast (from Canada, yo) don't matter much, I hope they help somewhat. I thought Alek's pre-dance Elvis package was adorable and funny .
  16. He was shaking like crazy...but of course no judge called him out on it. I like Bindi a lot. She is one of my favorites this season, but I found that dance quite underwhelming. Annoyingly so. Haha, I tweeted that she deserved 10s for having to handle that snake. I am very over Carlos. He seems like a jerk, and I don't know why the show is trying to make him happen. Stop trying to make Carlos happen. Thought he was overscored tonight. Of him and Alexa, I far prefer Alexa (who I thought was underscored tonight). HAHAHA! So on point. The judges were whack tonight. Bindi and Carlos were overscored.Alexa and Alek were underscored. If either of them go home next week, I'll be pissed. At least Paula is finally gone. She was amusing, but couldn't watch her "dancing" anymore. I thought Alek was great tonight. Seemed to have a blast, and I still think he's improving from week to week. Lindsay choreographs great routines with lots of content, and I think Alek does great. I'm sad that the judges are so indifferent to him. Andy KILLED it tonight. Love him!!!
  17. I loved listening to Anna. Especially listening to her talk about how she tried to teach Gary. And I loved hearing her talk about the dances. She is hilarious. But I thought she was very hard on Alek and Emma. I agree with the above. And I can't believe she actually thought Paula was underscored?
  18. Oh I'm certainly not calling to attention their claim to fame! That wasn't my intention. I'd personally never heard of Carlos before this show. But there's no questioning his celebrity and talent. (Like Witney for BSB, I'm just not part of the Big Time Rush Era.) I had heard of Alexa, and actually really enjoyed her when she had a recurring role on "Nashville". I came into this season thinking she'd be one of the people I'd be rooting for the most, and she has been one of my favorites. I'm just wondering why the show is pushing this "married couple" thing so strongly. It's annoying. And doesn't seem to be helping either of them.
  19. BAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!!! This made me laugh hard! I am quite confounded as to why the PenaVegas were basically shoved down our throats yesterday as well. They were both great, but overscored. They've obviously not been getting many votes. I don't expect either of them will win, so why does it matter if one (or both) of them leave soon? The married couple shtick/competition isn't even that great, PTB. Not at all...
  20. Ugh. Me too. I just turned 30 yesterday, and was already feeling old. But the whole "My mom used to play the Backstreet Boys...I wasn't in that era" thing made it even worse. Too real... Ugh. I know Erin probably had the producers yelling in her ears to up the showmance, but that was so cringe worthy. Alek seemed embarrassed, Emma seemed embarrassed...I WAS embarrassed, and wasn't even a part of the dance. Just no. However I too thought it was underscored. The judges keep telling him to show more with his face. He shows more than Tamar at least. I was worried they were going to use the whole "Spencer (Alek's best friend, also on the train) getting stabbed" thing, so I was at least glad they didn't go there. Ugh. (I ugh-ed a lot tonight.) I agree. He seems like a total d-bag. However, Lindsay's choreography was incredible tonight. She is probably one of the best pros for sure. The way she plans and teaches routines is fantastic. SO happy that Alek gets her back next week. And Carlos was wonderful dancing this routine tonight. He is amazing so great to have him back tonight. So sorry to hear about his dad. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family for sure. WOW ANDY. I was so excited for him to be able to dance with a new partner, and even happier when I saw he got Sharna. They did not disappoint, That was by far his best dance of the competition so far. I knew he had it in him, So sad he has to go back to Alison next week. (She seems sweet, and I know she's a great dancer...just not a great pro.) He seems like such a great guy, and I love his personality. I want him to stick around for a while. And tonight showed all of the potential he has, being squandered by having Alison as a partner. I'm a little worried about Alek. The low scores tonight, the judges indifference, the annoying showmance edit. I hope he and Lindsay KILL it next week. He's been the surprise of the season so far, and one of my faves, and I want to seen him in it for the long haul. Especially since he performed tonight with (likely) a broken nose. What a trooper.
  21. Happy Birthday to Alek! And for sure...she's been posting some gorgeous scenery pictures of Oregon on Instagram, and posted a really cute picture this morning of a cake that they surprised Alek with at rehearsals this morning. She seems like a really sweet, caring, positive person. Probably helping him a lot. (Although Lindsay seems as sweet as Emma. And she also posted a really sweet birthday message to Alek on Instagram today.)
  22. Just came here to post this as well. Here's the article that People has about it: http://www.people.com/article/spencer-stone-french-train-attack-hero-stabbed-california The hits just keep coming for Alek. How gut wrenching and sad :( Thoughts and prayers go out to Spencer and his family, and hoping he recovers soon. ETA: Absolutely to all of this. I would be really sad if he left the show, but it would be completely understandable. This would be hard for anyone, but most of the celebrities on this show are entertainers of some sort, and are used to performing. It’s likely easier for them to have a “the show must go on” mentality. But Alek is literally just a normal guy. And to be living the tragedy he went through last week, and now this in the spotlight must make these awful situations even MORE awful for him. Yes he is brave, and yes he is a trooper, but the end of the day, this show is so insignificant. And I think no one would fault Alek for stepping away from it all…
  23. Yay!!! Those are the partners I wanted for Alek, Andy (although I would’ve been happy if he got Lindsay or Witney as well), and Nick. So excited! I am excited to see what Mark is going to do…and happy that Louis gets to work with someone who is actually a pretty great dancer. I’m still upset that switch up week has to happen but again, very excited that Alex, Nick, and Andy got the partners I was hoping they would get.
