  1. Fostersmom, it was the proposal that took place in that oh-so-klassy swamp restaurant with the ceramic alligators and plastic menus.

The Bateses' proposals were ridiculously over the top. Broadway musicals have less bells and whistles. I totally agree these girls are super competitive. "Oh, he took you for a carriage ride? Well MY guy rented out a theme park, brought in a twenty piece orchestra, ten elephants and juggling midgets! Sucks to be you."

Jill's proposal was sweet, if not a tad awkward. The real, epic snarkfest will take place when Bin proposes to Jessa.

  2. To Will's credit he did share when Jen asked him to. From a logistics perspective a four year-old holding an ice cream cup is less dangerous than a two year-old in a party dress holding an ice cream cup.

I've been berry picking several times and in my experience most parents will let their kids sneak a couple to get it out of their system and then insist the berries go in the baskets. Although I'm often critical of Will's eating I can't say what he did or didn't do since I only saw him eat one strawberry on camera. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  3. I agree there's nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to special needs. I have a cousin who had a severe speech impediment as a child. His parents sought early intervention and now at 20 you would never guess he had a prior issue.

If they don't want to advertise Josie's delays, fine, but at least get the poor kid help.

  4. The Beatles were before my time as well, so I was SOL on FJ.

Sarah's affect is very off-putting. She's probably a nice person, but her default expression is this mean, scrunchy face (totally mature description, I know). I'm not sure how else to phrase it, but I felt like she was looking disapprovingly at me the whole time I was watching the show. She reminded me of an angry-bird.

  5. When Jessa and Jill were having a friendly squabble over who would try on the dress, I clearly heard Jessa say "YOU'RE the one getting married first so YOU do it!" So either the timeline was wonky or Jill knew about the proposal way in advance and everything on the episode was staged nonsense.

I also hope they don't make Joy go to WW. She has a beautiful curvy figure, she doesn't need to lose any weight.

Does anyone know if Anna is a bridesmaid? It doesn't seem like she's all that close to the J'Slaves, but I can see Jill including her out of obligation.

  6. FJ was an easy one, but I knew Brian and Peter were cooked. If you don't grow up here it would be hard to know off the top of your head which schools are Ivy and which would have a religious-themed mascot.

Seriously, Microsoft co-founder and she couldn't come up with Paul Allen?!

And so many lulz on the R+H DD. My elderly mother was screaming "CAROUSEL! CAROUSEL! CAROUSEL!" at the tv screen. Hell, Alex practically gave him the damn answer.

  7. Derick may not be allowed to mention Wal-mart. On Wheel of Fortune a few days ago there was a contestant who worked "for a beverage company in Atlanta." Obviously she worked for Coke, but for whatever reason couldn't say so.

The framed pic of Jill and Cathy was really cute.

  8. Absolom, I think the cameras definitely affect the parenting. Jen may not have caved so easily if she didn't feel pressured to make the "Family Fun Day at the Farm" scene happen. Another reason why I question whether the show should continue.

I do give Will a pass on eating the strawberries. I sneak grapes from the bags I buy at the grocery store and it's not like Will was able to read the posted sign.

  9. Jessa's bangs were new and her hair was dyed lighter, which quite frankly, washed her out. People with olive-toned complexions look better with a darker, richer hair color.

Ljohnson1987, so true. I've been watching the show long enough to know that the Duggars can't be expected to think of others' suffering when their own needs are so important!

  10. Boy, just leave it to that Michael. I mean, the NERVE of that kid to contract the flu the night before the Duggars' big GMA appearance! Doesn't he know they're kind of a big deal? What a horrible, inconsiderate child!

Seriously, I felt bad that nobody seemed concerned about HIM. It was all about how it will affect everyone else's day. Like the poor kid spent the night puking his guts out as part of some devious, mastermind scheme to thwart the Duggars' famewhoring.

  11. This episode bored me to tears, mostly because of the blatant scripting and staging. Jill obviously knew way back that the proposal was coming, otherwise why such a big emphasis on The Lunch Date To End All Lunch Dates? They'd been out a million times before, so why would this one be any different?

I agree Nepal Derick is much better than Arkansas Derick. His nerves were understandable, but he took on that dorky, mush-mouthed affect we've seen in the Duggar kids for years.

Anna totally had her bitch-face on during the announcement! Her, Smuggs and the 3M's are soon to be old news!

Finally, can we please get Josie a crash helmet already? Seriously, what the hell is wrong with that kid? During her TH, I was picturing Jana standing off camera dangling a shiny object back and forth to keep her distracted.

  12. Just from my own observation Will is becoming one of those kids who's only cutesy and smiley when he's getting to do what he wants to do. I think it's great he ran to Jen when she got home, but he also completely ignored her at the farm when he went off on his own and she ordered him to come back. He was a joy making the Easter Eggs until he was reprimanded and then put on the sourpuss face. They weren't at the farm for two minutes before he started crying and having a hissy fit over ice cream. But of course once he got it, he was all rainbows and sunshine again.

I don't think Will is a horrible kid, but his act is starting to wear thin with me. It's not going to kill him to go ten minutes without sweets. Mileage varies, of course.

  13. I think I'm the only person on the planet who loves Peeps. I'm not really a sugar/sweet eater but for some reason I always eat a box of Peeps during Easter.

Zoe's outfit was adorable. Despite being younger she was much better behaved during the visit to the farm. She seems to focus really well when she has a task to do, I think she's a sharp kid.

Will having another meltdown over food? Why am I not surprised.

  14. Mumbles, thanks for the clarification. When I think of "engineering" I think of a major with a hardcore math/science focus. I had no idea some universities offer degrees that are a little more, um,....diluted.

I didn't understand why they did "Easy Being Green" twice last night either. Alex announced the category in DJ like it was some inside joke or something but it didn't make sense. Or maybe I'm too much of a pleb to understand the nuances of the game:)

  15. I'm not sure but here's another thing I find odd: tonight's epi will feature Derick buying Jill's e-ring in Israel, with film crew in tow. It seems odd to buy a ring after only having met the person one time. Not to be a bitch, but Jill's ring is hardly some custom designed ten-carat Neil Lane. He could have bought it at any jewelry store in the U.S., so was the relationship already further along than we're being led to believe? The whole Fundie courtship thing just baffles me. I can't wrap my head around being engaged to someone you've barely spent any time with.

  16. If the story is true, I agree it's inappropriate for Derick to visit her at the birth center. I used to work at a medical building and if Mr. BitterApple came by to take me to lunch or whatever, he would wait out front in the car or meet me in the lobby. Nobody's spouses came into the waiting room of the doctor we worked for.

I don't know much about birth centers vs. hospitals, but I'm assuming that sort of behavior would be frowned upon, particularly in a maternity ward.

  17. Julia missed a couple of easy peasy questions. I too was surprised she didn't get abacus and emerald, those were gimmes.

I agree she was very vague about her career. She actually admitted last week that she was in the process of looking for a job. I don't exactly know what "supply chain professional" entails. She also had a weird educational path. I believe she had a BA in history and an MS in Engineering. How the hell does that happen?

  18. Holy crap! The Irish guy and I live in the same town! I almost had a heart attack when they announced he was from Scituate, MA, which is also affectionately known as the Irish Riviera.

I'm sorry to see Julia go, she was a classy champion. Considering they tape a bunch of episodes in one day I'm wondering if she just got burnt out.

  19. Ugh, I was really rooting for Kohlschreiber to pull it out. Murray is such a damn whiner. I just want to scream "shut up and PLAY!" every time he's on my tv screen.

Serena just seemed flat from the start of the tourney. I'm not surprised she went down early.

Darrin has always been my favorite commentator, the man is pure class.

  20. I believe Derick's mom likes Jill, she just doesn't like the dog-and-pony show that comes with her. I've been on 12+ hour flights and the last thing I'd want upon arriving home is to be mobbed by a bunch of hyperactive children.

I'm assuming Jill will be moving closer to where Derick works. Hopefully that will give her some much needed distance.
