  1. Mumbles, thanks for the clarification. When I think of "engineering" I think of a major with a hardcore math/science focus. I had no idea some universities offer degrees that are a little more, um,....diluted.

I didn't understand why they did "Easy Being Green" twice last night either. Alex announced the category in DJ like it was some inside joke or something but it didn't make sense. Or maybe I'm too much of a pleb to understand the nuances of the game:)

  2. I'm not sure but here's another thing I find odd: tonight's epi will feature Derick buying Jill's e-ring in Israel, with film crew in tow. It seems odd to buy a ring after only having met the person one time. Not to be a bitch, but Jill's ring is hardly some custom designed ten-carat Neil Lane. He could have bought it at any jewelry store in the U.S., so was the relationship already further along than we're being led to believe? The whole Fundie courtship thing just baffles me. I can't wrap my head around being engaged to someone you've barely spent any time with.

  3. If the story is true, I agree it's inappropriate for Derick to visit her at the birth center. I used to work at a medical building and if Mr. BitterApple came by to take me to lunch or whatever, he would wait out front in the car or meet me in the lobby. Nobody's spouses came into the waiting room of the doctor we worked for.

I don't know much about birth centers vs. hospitals, but I'm assuming that sort of behavior would be frowned upon, particularly in a maternity ward.

  4. Julia missed a couple of easy peasy questions. I too was surprised she didn't get abacus and emerald, those were gimmes.

I agree she was very vague about her career. She actually admitted last week that she was in the process of looking for a job. I don't exactly know what "supply chain professional" entails. She also had a weird educational path. I believe she had a BA in history and an MS in Engineering. How the hell does that happen?

  5. Holy crap! The Irish guy and I live in the same town! I almost had a heart attack when they announced he was from Scituate, MA, which is also affectionately known as the Irish Riviera.

I'm sorry to see Julia go, she was a classy champion. Considering they tape a bunch of episodes in one day I'm wondering if she just got burnt out.

  6. Ugh, I was really rooting for Kohlschreiber to pull it out. Murray is such a damn whiner. I just want to scream "shut up and PLAY!" every time he's on my tv screen.

Serena just seemed flat from the start of the tourney. I'm not surprised she went down early.

Darrin has always been my favorite commentator, the man is pure class.

  7. I believe Derick's mom likes Jill, she just doesn't like the dog-and-pony show that comes with her. I've been on 12+ hour flights and the last thing I'd want upon arriving home is to be mobbed by a bunch of hyperactive children.

I'm assuming Jill will be moving closer to where Derick works. Hopefully that will give her some much needed distance.

  8. Wasn't Anna pregnant with Michael when Josh had her loading suitcases in to the car? God forbid Joshie do any heavy lifting and burn a calorie or two.

IIRC, when Jill was leaving Nepal, Derick loaded the bags. So far he hasn't given me any douche-y vibes so my hopes are high.

  9. jodo, thanks for the link. I was unaware Will's orphanage was for special needs kids. Zoe's orphanage didn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies, she's a very lucky little girl to have gotten out of there.

Has it been mentioned whether Bill is having his back surgery any time soon? The poor guy looks like he's in more and more pain with each episode.

  10. Regarding Will and Zoe not interacting with other children, do you all think that's just a by-product of being in the orphanage? Third world cultures aren't exactly known for tolerance towards those with disabilities and anomalies, so maybe they were shunned by the other kids and had to learn to play on their own. Just food for thought...

  11. I think Bill was smart enough to just nod and smile so the doctor would give him the okay to get Zoe the hell out of India and back to Houston where she could be properly diagnosed.

Regarding Will, they've mentioned him starting pre-school and usually you have to be potty-trained for that. I know Jen has brought up developmental milestones in her TH's, so I'm assuming any areas where Will is lagging are being addressed.

  12. Hi folks, new here from the TWoP site! I'm not sure this has been addressed or not, but does anyone else wonder if Jeopardy! is purposely pairing ringers like Julia and Arthur with lightweight players? I know they're smart but it seems ridiculous to have these kinds of winning streaks and with such large margins.
