I thought Teresa was quite shrewd and clever and am intrigued enough to see what she does next and how she does it. The characters are well drawn and the plot kept my interest. I would have liked to see more of Guero, because hotness, but I suppose the point of the show isn't having Teresa remain dependent on a man.

All Episodes Talk : Season 9

Margaret Cho -- I don't think this is one I'll be rewatching, although it was nice to see how fond she and Jerry are of each other in that supportive comedian way. I had read that Margaret redid one of her shows but didn't realize Jerry was there. The idea of a do-over was a little weird to me because comics bomb all the time and I'm sure Margaret has. Her onstage persona and comedy have always been kind of divisive. I usually enjoy her more issues-oriented stand-up even though it doesn't necessarily make me laugh. It's hard to believe the audience would turn on her so vehemently, but it sounded like it was maybe 1-2 people leading the outcry. -
Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Ha! For a job, yes. I'd never lived anywhere it snowed before but ended up not minding the cold. The state as a whole is, uh, lacking in scenic splendor, but there were no traffic jams or crowding. Cheap real estate. People were a lot more religious than I was used to and I had to stifle my initial amusement at the accents, but I enjoyed it there. -

In 1985 I moved from San Francisco to Grand Forks ND and was chapped that the local NBC station did not carry Saturday Night Live. It bothered me enough that I called the station and spoke to whoever there was tasked with talking to viewers. The station began airing SNL shortly after that. Even through the decision probably had nothing to do with me, it was still pretty shocking. -
Doesn't Morse have some kind of private income later in life? Maybe it was a settlement after his false arrest. It makes me sad that Endeavour started season one as a teetotaler and is now pretty much a functioning alcoholic.

Daniel, were you an Indian water bearer, Rudyard Kipling would come to mind. I don't envy your task but will be curious to hear your opinion as things go along.

Me, too. I was considering a re-watch but that's too much of a commitment. I made do with reading last season's episode summaries on Wikipedia and Den of Geek. "Ah yeah. That does kind of sound familiar."

I agree about the nose job results. It's especially impressive considering how damaged her nose was to start with. All those pieces of bone he removed, oy. Also, Her husband was a little creepy with the hardass trainer routine. I'm kind of in the same situation > car accident 40 years ago > cartilage surgically implanted > now shrunk and/or migrated > partially collapsed nasal passages > mouth breather. I don't do Crossfit (or any other strenuous workouts!) and get by with Breathe Right strips for sleeping. It's gotten really easy to tell which patient will be the one turned down in each episode.

The remade jackets were all cute and so much better than what these same women turned out in the first episode. It's really nice to see them grow and become more confident. The cuts hurt more now because the contestants are all doing good work, but I thought Rumana's jacket should have won and maybe would have given her a slight edge over Jade. Tracy's work is excellent sometimes and a bit slapdash at others so I feel she may be on the bubble.

Ah. I haven't watched any previous versions and didn't realize Elise was supposed to be anything other than curt and short-tempered. I really enjoyed it, though and thought the plot was well laid out and the characters sharply drawn.

I'm on the fence about ad blocking software. Ads are why sites like this are free and I wouldn't like having to pay a subscription fee, and would be even unhappier if it went out of business for lack of funds. So I consider ads to be the price of admission, however I only recall clicking on maybe 2-3 ads in my online lifetime, which means I'm freeloading either way. -
I wish there could have been more of a reset for season three. I don't see how new viewers could follow the plot when I watched the previous two seasons and wasn't fully able to. An introductory scrawl onscreen might be super hokey but at least it would have caught me up in terms of place, where we are now, and what's happened offscreen. There's no way I'm rewatching season two since I didn't much like it the first time. (Which, okay, is probably a large part of why I'm not able to follow along.) I enjoyed the first season so much and keep hoping the show will draw me in the same way again, but political intrigue alone isn't going to do it.

I can't adequately express how angry I get when sick people are, directly or indirectly, blamed for their illnesses. Why do so many bystanders seem to need a reason in the first place?* Animals in the wild get cancer too, and I don't think it's because they smoked or drank too much or ate the wrong thing. There usually isn't a provable causal link between a specific behavior and an illness, and even in cases where there is (such as mesothelioma and asbestos), what good does it do the patient to bring it up? Does the fact that a person with cirrhosis drank heavily mean they somehow don't deserve our help? It just seems like victim blaming to me, done at the time when sick people need the most support. * Actually, I believe they do it because it reinforces that because they themselves don't do X they therefore won't get sick. But that doesn't excuse it. -
Forgot to say that my search history now includes how to neuter tortoises, because I wondered if that was an option: "It is possible to neuter a tortoise. However, at present, unless the tortoise is experiencing problems with the laying of eggs, neutering of tortoises is rarely carried out, as it is a relatively high-risk procedure. Female tortoises can hold male sperm in them (sperm retention) and produce eggs several years later so if they have already been mixed they may already have the capacity to produce eggs."

Gawd. Dr. K in particular sees a wide variety of animals with all sorts of illnesses and injuries. That is interesting/dramatic enough on its own without fake, ginned up visits. I also didn't fully understand why the raccoon's cancer wasn't treatable -- too widespread? The Sawgrass woman seemed to expect some options other than putting her down. The show has Dr. Jeff and his team driving long distances to visit ranches and large animal rescue facilities, and those are probably for purposes of the show as well. They don't bother me because it seems like he's doing them at a reduced cost to help the animals even if it was arranged by the producers. I also don't think Dr. Oakley was in the habit of driving from Canada to Alaska to help there before her show started. After watching 10 hours or so of Supervet over a couple of days, I didn't come away thinking any of the appointment were created solely for the show, but even though the stories are inspiring I got a little tired of a steady diet of orthopedic surgeries. Speaking of being bored, I noticed a separate forum has been added now for The Vet Life. ;)

She's kind of carrying the load for me, although I'm also enjoying Gareth as her foil. The show doesn't seem to want me to root for or care about Luke or Red, and I don't. Nice that Laurel's office window looks out at an actual (statuary) horse's ass. Loud slurpy/squisy noises, gross me out, so I looked away at whatever was happening in that closeup of the aliants Laurel stepped on. Do we need a drinking game for each episode's infection tell? In addition to the song, we've had the repeated "four months at sea" phrase, then this time is was Forever Juice. Is it too much to hope for a musical recap every episode?

S01.E01: Pilot / S01.E02: We Don't Hurt People

The showrunners have confirmed that this is the case. -
I don't want to blame Blue and Ross for not noticing that a goat was giving birth a few feet away from them, but gah. If they had been there on an actual vet visit instead of messing about with a camera crew, they probably would have been devoting their attention to the animals.

I haven't seen the shows with older Morse but as conflicted and unhappy with police work as Endeavour is, I have to think he'd be pretty damned grumpy in his 50s. I would have liked to see Endeavour tie things up with Monica, because she deserved better than what seemed like him abruptly jumping ship. The last we knew, he was asking her to leave England with him. But I guess one of his primary personality quirks is the emotional damage sustained from his breakup with the mysterious blond Oxford girl. I re-watched last season's shows in preparation but it didn't help all that much. Endeavour made a brief, bitter mention of his time in prison, but how long could he possibly have been there before the real murderer was sorted out? This show has made me dislike opera.

The Jim Gaffigan Show - General Discussion
zxy556575 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Jim Gaffigan Show
That was a good start. I liked the first two eps a lot better than last season. The jail scenes with the other social media gaffe celebrities were pretty funny. Carrot Top has been in there since the 90s, indeed. -
I love Endeavour so much, both the person and the show. Not sure why I find it so compelling, but I've watched the series probably four times, and I never do that. It was nice to see Morse stop chopping wood in his tie and get back to police work. I wouldn't have pegged Shaun as 36, either!

Have we talked about Tom the vet tech at Dr. K's before? His grooming changed from one scene to the next this week, but in general, his beard skeeves me out hard. Do we think that owner is really going to put his overweight parrot on a diet? I'm doubtful. Dr. K's adventures with GPS tortoise tracking were funny, but wouldn't it be easier to keep the gates closed? Yowza, 9 feet of sutures for that bunny's ear surgery! I guess if I ever get a rabbit, it won't be a lop.
