  1. I'm doing a partial series rewatch. I think I bailed out from the series in real time after Carol left to go find Doug. I'm now in Season 14 and would just like to say that I hate almost everyone. Hate Abby, hate Luka, hate Sam, hate Gates. Used to like Neela, hate her too now. Morris at least provides a little humor at times. The only doctor I like is Pratt and from what I've heard he doesn't meet a happy end. I liked/enjoyed pretty much all of the original and earlier cast. Even Romano was written/acted well enough to be interesting. The one episode when Abby was supposed to be at rehab and Luka was in Croatia was incredibly refreshing.

My kid is in his last year of college and hasn't taken an in person class in over a year. All of his classes this semester are online. A lot of my friends' kids who are living on campus are still taking some classes online. I would suspect some of the gymnasts did online high school as well.
  3. Perhaps, but "we" are not opening our lives up to the world on a reality show. Huge difference.
  4. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that video. They are young girls for the most part and Suni actually acted like she was happy about it. What a weird idea, hand a bunch of elite athletes in a sport known for eating disorders a plate of food that is generally a love it or hate it experience. It was just a dumb, awkward idea. And FWIW I am in my 50s and have never even held a plate of sushi and have no desire to do so. I don't think I could eat an oyster if my life depended on it. NBCs coverage in prime time was absolutely horrific. I streamed the gymnastics but as far as prime time, I felt like I missed a lot. Except, of course, every second of women's beach volleyball.
  5. They sure didn't. I thought I was imagining things!
  6. But none that are scrutinized to the degree that Simone has been dealing with. NBC won't let her breathe without a camera on her.
  7. What is the best way to watch the U.S. women at 2:10 a.m. tomorrow morning Eastern time? I tuned in for some of the men's competition this morning on the NBC feed and was surprised that they skipped a lot of the U.S. gymnasts' routines. I like seeing other countries' athletes and that's why I tuned into the feed rather than watching the NBC American-centric highlights tonight in primetime, but I was surprised that they actually showed so few of the U.S. men. Wondering if it is worth it to get up in the middle of the night to see the U.S. women?
  8. I do have to say, I thought Annie leading into a reprise of Kevin Bacon's speech from Footloose was freaking hilarious. I just watched Footloose the other day, so maybe that made it funnier but I loved it.

And then after they reveal that secret we can get a review of Suni's dad's injury because that hasn't been covered at all. (Brave guy and seems like a sweet dad, but geesh!)

Yes but she's not Simone Biles.
  11. I usually enjoy this show, but this season kind of wore me out. COVID was bad enough living through it through the past year or so. I really didn't feel like it was at all enjoyable to relive it, nor did I think it was necessary. Tons of stuff happens on this show that would never happen in a real hospital or with real doctors or real patients, so did we have to drag everything down with a COVID rehash? I found it exhausting.

Oh thank you! I was so freaking confused. I kept wondering why they were having trials if athletes could qualify by another process, and I thought there were only 4 spots total.
  13. There's a quick shot in the Episode 6 trailer, of Mare picking up a T-shirt and looking at it with an expression of surprise. If that is something found among Erin's belongings, I'm going with Kevin being the baby's father and Siobhan being the killer, even though she seems like a good kid. I will probably change my mind in the next 20 minutes or so.
  14. I actually find Ruby tooling around on her grandma scooter to be ridiculously amusing.
  15. Kate Winslet is a goddess. I love that she is fearless in taking on roles that require American accents, and it's clear that she puts in the work. And I am grateful that she doesn't have a face full of plastic surgery. No one looks younger, just like they have a face full of plastic. Except maybe Dolly Parton and Cher. Mare has a rough-hewn kind of beauty to her. I agree that the acting is spot on. I rewatched this episode to nail down the characters as I was a little confused first time around but it's due to the quality of the work that I was that invested. Even the house that Mare lives in is perfect. A lot more people in America grew up in a modest home like that with the spindle railing near the stairs than most of the houses you see on TV. All around, very well done.
