Interesting that Sara is coming back, because I thought that they would get a completely different host or something.

I think they see Sara as a friendly, wholesome host whom 'middle America' is comfortable with each morning (same with Huntsman).  They most likely have her under contract, and need to place her somewhere now that 'Strahan, Sara & Keke' has been canceled. She deserved so much better than that, IMO.

  2. The first news to come out for Season 24  is that Sara Haines will be returning to the show to take Abby Huntsman's seat permanently.  Huntsman replaced Sara in September 2018, when Sara left to join the new 1 pm show "GMA 3: Strahan & Sara".  ABC officially canceled "GMA 3" this past March, and Sara has been filling in periodically as host of 'The View'.

    Welcome back Sara Haines!

  3. So we know how this is going to play out, Zora dropped the line to Sophia if they live together in NY it will be like a TV show. As expected, that's the spin-off.

Now with James gone (expected that, too, with his confessions throughout the show) what happens to house and Church ? They'll need ti wrap that up next.

Heh, this many seasons in it's probably too late to tone down Lynn Whitfield's acting approach to Lady Mae. And re her hair, over the years of watching the actress's hairline recede so severely, I fgured she must have traction alopecia from wearing heavy weaves.

I didn't realize there was going to be a spin-off. Hope that's still in the works given the filming and production difficulties caused by the pandemic. If Jason Dirden's in it, I'm on board.

Yes, I believe it was Oprah who said it when the current season kicked off last month. When it will go in production, and when it will air... who knows ?  And yes, bring back Basie (cause I don't believe he's dead).

As for Whitfield's distracting wigs, maybe they could put her in turbans with each wardrobe ? She'd look so much better.

  5. So that was the last episode of the season ? I was waiting for an ALL NEW "VIEW YOUR DEAL' to kick off my summer weekend ! Where was it ?

Good riddance to a God-awful season (IMO). Why they tried so hard to morph this show into QVC or HSN this past season, is beyond me. Then when COVID hit, they tried to guilt-trip their viewers (who were now unemployed or under employed) to buy garbage from desperate small business owners who started their dreary plea for help with 'The pandemic has hit us really hard...'  Maybe they should have applied for the small business programs given out by the feds and their local state government ? Maybe THE VIEW could have helped each small business owner that way with a financial adviser, rather than have them beg for sales ? Just came off so rather cheesy to me.

Then there was the usual mumble-grumble with each other (Thanks MeAgain) that often took away from the conversation itself. It only got worse when Abby left, and the four were left to their own devices. I missed them doing a live show on Fridays with Joy as the moderator and Anna filling in - I guess MeAgain took care of that for everyone. And since March, the 'View from Home' has been a train wreck.

And as much as I like Sunny over the past few years (she's grown on me) is it necessary for her to talk about every black  or Latino notable (doctor, politician, actor, actress, journalist, lawyer, author)  with the preface "I know him / her very well...." ?  For the sake of brevity, Sunny, we will go out on a limb and make the presumption you know the person being discussed in 'Hot Topics' very well. If you don't -  surprise us ! Preface with, "You're not going to believe this, but I don't know this Latina politician very well'.

If there was one stand-out for me, a must-see TV moment which will live on forever - it was the day Michigan Governor Whitmer was on, and her video / audio froze just when Meghan was being her petulant self. Whitmer was frozen in time, just giving her the 'death stare' like a Disney Ice Princess - and a few seconds went by (am eternity on live TV) before they realized she wasn't staring her down, she was actually frozen in time. Whitmer deserves an Emmy. Or her Internet provider does...

See you all in September for Season 24. What I will do without the ability to buy Oprah's favorite sunglasses, sarongs, beach bags, self-cleaning beach towels and sunscreen for the rest of the summer - I just don't know. Wish me luck !

  6. As a spare tire (or fifth cohost) Sara is fine. Yet she's too 'strawberry shortcake' for the show. I can't imagine them replacing Meghan with her - not at all. As someone said, she's good for lightweight stuff - probably why she was on that awful 'GMA3' show which didn't last long.

Has everybody abandoned this show? 😟  I'm an episode behind and just watched the 4th one. Still planning to hang in until the end though.

I'm still watching this each week - it's one of my favorite shows on TV. Sad to see this is ending this season, but they promised a spin-off so I hope it's a good character (maybe the two young cousins and AJ in NYC ? Maybe Basie, Tasha, and Rochelle?))

They need to reel in Lady Mae. I love Whitfield as an actress (though her wig is atrocious) , but she recites all her lines like she's doing Shakespeare. She's way too dramatic, and teeters on becoming comical.

The actress who plays Kerissa is one of my favorites - she looks remarkably like a young Dionne Warwick (from the 1980s) and could very well play her in a biopic.

AJ is adorable - and so is his dad.

  8. Sarah was awful on Wednesday's show. She looked terrible, and she didn't contribute much - she didn't need to be there at all.

I'm guessing things aren't going well in her life right now - she's admitted she's not having a great time being in her home with her kids, Add to the fact that her afternoon show has been dropped by ABC (I don't know what that does to her financially), and she hasn't mentioned her husband at all, which she usually does (is he still in the picture?) .

I thought she was going to come back next season and take Abby's place. Now, I wonder if she will take an extended hiatus from TV and deal with what's happening behind the scenes and get back on track.

As for Meagan - I was really looking forward to her on Wednesday's show. Alas, she was out - for good reasons. She can't face defeat.

Oh Good Grief!  Megan is having a Hissy fit today!  She got into it with Whoopi...I think Whoopi would know if she was there or not, why is Megan arguing with her?!  She is just upset that she did NOT get invited to put her photo up by all the "cool" women...

You would think Whoopi was trying to argue she was in the frontline of the America Revolution, the way Meagain was arguing with her. It was about an interview which Whoopi said she was there, sitting next to the guest.

  10. I thought today's show was one of the better ones they had in a long time.  Rahm Emanuel can go on every day as far as I'm concerned - he's smart, he's witty, and he's incredibly handsome (love his sexy smile).

The tribute to Regis was nice, especially from Whoopi and Joy.

Kudos to Sunny for shutting down MM and letting everyone know the background on the sportscaster whom 'Ben McCain' loves so much ! MeAgain looked shocked.

MM, on the other hand, went on and on about Regis like she knew him forever (never met the guy), and I thought for sure she was leading into a tribute to her own father, to remind everyone how wonderful he was. Alas, she ran out of time. Whew! Saved by the bell!

And of course, we had the chance to buy more handbags, skincare, sunglasses,  even teeth whitener ! When their suddenly-unemployed viewers go to the bank to cash their unemployment checks minus the $600 stimulus, they sure will look fabulous!  All thanks to Oprah and Adam Glassman.

As for the rest of the week: Andy Cohen ? Miss Piggy? Susan Rice (again) ? Judy Gold ?  No thanks. I'll be FF through those segments, with pleasure.

  11. The show definitely needs an overhaul before it starts next season.  It has really grown 'tired' and has shown it's age (IMO). As I said earlier this week - it needs a new opening, a new song, a new voice-over in the beginning and commercial breaks.  It needs better technology, it needs better moderation.  I'm not saying it's time to make changes to the cast , it just needs direction. It's  not 'working'  in its current state for the past few months.

  12. Having Raven on today reminded VIEW-ers how bad the show was just a few years ago. She was one of the worst cohosts on that show - and that's saying something.

I'll never forget when she told the panel she was 'a little married' (to her former girlfriend, I believe) when they were discussing marriage. That's like saying you're ' a little pregnant' when discussing pregnancies.

I'm sorry, but I don't like Amy McGrath.

I have to say, I wasn't impressed with her at all. They threw some easy questions at her, and all she did was spit out her 'talking points' from her campaign mailers. She needs to brush up on her interview skills if she expects to win over McConnell (which should be a piece of cake). She comes across as very inexperienced to run for the office she's seeking. I hope she hires a team to polish up her skills.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned this, did you guys notice the pain expression on Whoopie's face when she announced that Barbara Fedida got fired for her racist statements..

I thought it was because Whoopi couldn't read the teleprompter again. Her expression looked more 'confused' than 'pained' to me.

What's funny is, usually they have Sunny do all these announcements - were they afraid Sunny was going to ad-lib something at the end?

That Sara lady at the end of the show was a bit too excited about whatever deals she was talking about.  She started getting crazy eyes!

This is even worse than 'View Your Deal' rip-offs.  The idiotic promotions she was pushing 'just for The View' are the standard promotions those vendors flood your email with each day.  For example, there was a promotion for 'Bed, Bath and Beyond'.  What was it ? Their usual '20% OFF' coupon, which I get every damn day in my email.

Speaking of which - the woman who was pushing her small business with the handbags that had the see-through pocket on the side, for your cell-phone. It looks rather awkward to maneuver your handbag 'just right' to tap on the keys through that acrylic covering to use the phone, while holding the bag on it's side with your other arm. I mean, how hard is it to remove the phone from the pocket and use it like everyone's been doing since iPhones came out over a decade ago ?  If she's the designer of those bags, she certainly didn't think the practicality or functionality out fully -  it fails both tests.  I say this not as a consumer (I'm a guy, so I don't use a handbag), but as a vendor for 24 yrs who sold handbags, and other accessories in my business. Though something may 'appear' to be easier and more convenient (like this gimmick she's pushing) at least 75% of the time, I found it's not. And sure enough - the products had a very short life in stores (but not in my store - I would pass!).

Some "kind" employers give three days if one loses a child.  A CHILD!  Then I guess it's "Back to work, Missy."

I could see Meghan taking a week or two from the show (I know her dad passed about a week before the new season started), but six weeks ?  This wasn't a 'sudden death', it was long expected and long planned. I would think she would want to get on with her life and return to work. I think the longer you take off, the harder it is to re-adjust (but maybe I'm the odd one out) ?

My wonderful dad, who suffered from dementia the past year,  died at 88 in early June from COVID, while in a nursing home (we hadn't seen him since early March).  My employer gave me three bereavement days, which is pretty standard in my industry (college / university).  My sister's a nurse, and she got three days, also.  Again, standard in her industry (hospital).  I did take an extra two days as 'family sick' - the day before he passed, and the day he did pass, plus my two 'days off'  - for a total of seven days. My sister did, as well.  I think for both of us,  seven days seemed sufficient - it was time to get 'back to work' to resume our new normality. (Same thing when my mom passed away unexpectedly 23 years ago).

Never gonna happen. Ro won't go near The View.

I think you mean Rosie won't go near Whoopi.

I've always wondered why Rosie was so vocal against Hasslebeck for the past 13 years, yet never says anything bad about Whoopi - who was so openly hostile to her and always at odds with her. I honestly think Hasslebeck likes Rosie more than Whoopi does. Yet Rosie holds her tongue when it comes to Whoopi - never identifies her by name in her dealings with the show that season.

I guess its because Rosie knows Hasslebeck is an easy target - one who will take Rosie's insults and commentary over the past decade, while Whoopi will fight back and make her look like a fool.

  18. Rosie O'Donnell was a guest on a Broadway interview show the other day, and she said she will be returning to Broadway in a major musical revival next year, once this virus is over. (Though Broadway is closed down until at least January, she doesn't think it will reopen until the Fall of 2021 - I agree!)

When asked what the musical revival will be she said she couldn't say, but threw a hint: "Hello Gorgeous!" (For those not familiar, it's 'Funny Girl').

One of the other guests asked, 'Aren't you too old to be playing 'Fanny Brice', and she curtly responded she'd be playing her mother 'Mrs. Brice'.  When asked for more details, again she kept saying she couldn't say - just that it was definitely happening next year when the theaters reopen.

A few years ago, she said it was definitely happening with Lady Gaga playing Fanny Brice. Last year, it was announced Idina Menzel was negotiating for the part - though she will be 50 and Brice should be early 20s.

Wonder if they will  have her on 'The View' pushing the revival ?

Meghan isn't there, which is a shame since I wanted to hear what she had to say about Portland and if she brings up rioting.

I bet Meghan took the day off  to pick out baby names. I think she's narrowed it down to 'Senator' or 'McCain'.  I'm sure she will tell us all about it today when she returns...can't wait until she shares every nuance of picking out a baby name to honor her father.

  20. Today was another one of those 'uneventful' shows which I wish I didn't bother to watch. The only thing that held my interest was the woman pushing her cookie dough....so that's saying something on my end. I must say,  these people who do their 30 minute infomercial trying to sell their products at 50% off look so pathetic on TV telling millions of viewers how much their business is hurting. Not sure if that's a smart way of marketing a small business and gaining new customers when you're hinting you're on the brink of collapse. These owners are sounding so desperate. Doesn't make me want to patronize the place. I owned my own small business for 24 years - through good times and bad. I never ever let on to customers that a certain period (2009 financial collapse) was a 'bad time' - always had a smile on my face and said business was fine. Always gave off a positive vibe - which actually helped business.

  21. Another strange day in MeAgain's world - of course she had to make Lewis' death somehow about her father. She just had to - she can't help herself.

I was impressed with Guv Hogan (though I will admit, he looked like a talking 'thumb') and I like when he shut Sunny down. You can tell when she's upset or embarrassed - she does this weird quivering smile where she looks like she's swallowing her bottom lip, and then closes her eyes. It happened twice with Hogan and he made her look like a fool.

Ahhh - and VYD! I was up all night trying to figure out where I could buy sparkly masks and hamburger socks for 'one low price'. I think I'll wait a little longer - like six weeks - where I'll find the overstock (even cheaper) sitting on the shelves of Family Dollar and TJ Maxx.

  22. I am looking forward to Mary Trump's interview, as I wasn't too impressed with the Mddow interview. Could be because it was pre-recorded (Maddow was on vacation from her show last week, but they stuck this interview in) and it wasn't edited too well. At times Mary Trump would respond, and then 'dead air' for a few seconds, since she wouldn't elaborate. I'm not sure if it's because she's not comfortable being interviewed, or because she was restricted in what she could say. It made for a disappointing conversation (for me). Maddow really struggled to get information at times.  The final edit was rather choppy, and I expected much better from Maddow and her team.

I didn't see Cuomo, not sure if that was pre-recorded, too. I really hope that Thursday's interview is live and not pre-recorded. If these interviews with her are indeed pre-recorded, that means she probably is getting rights to 'final edit' with her legal team, most likely for legal reasons.

Next week looks like a 'dreadful week' once again. Ice Cube, Patricia Horton, Raven Symone ? I can do without all of them. But thank heavens we have 'View Your Deal' on Monday !!!!!!!!

  23. Oh what a past few days to end this awful week of 'The Feud' - I mean, 'The View'.

    Random Thoughts:

Note to Joy, the self-proclaimed Atheist on the panel - You said yesterday "I thank God every day for people like Dr. Fauci, Mitt Romney, Nancy Pelosi,..." Why? Why do you thank a God you have no belief in ?  You can say 'I thank my maple tree in my backyard everyday' or 'I thank my gold watch I bought from Nordstroms' and it would have the same meaning.  I just don't get it...and I guess I never will.

Note to Meghan - Bari Weiss is not important to anyone this week, except Bari Weiss (and apparently you). If you're truly best friends with this woman, why don't you invite her on the show, and interview her so you can get the 'scoop' on this non-story ? Please stop shoving this non-issue down the throats of others, since no one gives a shit ! Have her on the show, ask her your questions, treat her to a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, and move on. It's as simple as that.

Note to Sunny -  What in the world are you doing to your face? You look like your doing your makeup in crayons. Earlier this week, there was a woman who owned a company which made cosmetics for darker skinned women like yourself - she was hawking it for 50% off on your show. If you didn't buy it, maybe you should. If you did buy it, maybe you shouldn't have.

Note to Whoopi - Wearing orange eyeglasses that look like you made them from Legos is not your best look at all. I know you want to look as 'hip' and 'anti-establishment' as you thought you did 35 years ago, but you have to draw the line somewhere. This is a good place to start.

Note to the Producers - A whole new season is coming up in September. Can you please ditch the theme song after 6 seasons? "Ima go change the View / World's gone crazy" is tired now. Time for a change - and I'm sure you can find a new song from a new musician at 50% off! Just check out 'View Your Deal'. Time for new opening credits, too. This one is very dated (goes back to Candace and Paula) - and Meghan looks like a moron coming out and flapping her two hands like she's trying to grab someone by their breasts. (I hate to say this, but 'The Talk' always had better opening sequence and a catchier theme song).
