  1. Well S7 is starting on Pluto right now if you want to look for the 3267624th time!
  2. The year after Jenna left the show had a clip of Jinelle in the office with K&J sort of suggesting that she stay another year, so I don't know about that. I would agree though that five years should be the limit - at that point you've gone through enough of your adult life that you should move on and focus on other things, whether it's a family, legitimate career, or anything else. Didn't S12 Alexandria say that she was forced to retire from the Patriots after four years and only got to stay because she became a coach of sorts? Does anyone know if any other NFL or NBA teams have similar maximum tenures?
  3. I'm pretty sure someone said Maddie posted a retirement speech on Instagram.
  4. I can't keep this straight in my head, could someone post a list separating confirmed retirements, confirmed returners, and girls who haven't said anything yet?
  5. Based on what some of the vets were wearing (who have attended this same event in the past), I think the only ones that really don't work/aren't appropriate are Armani and Jada, although I don't understand why some of the girls wear floor-length gowns - they look like they're going to prom. I also don't like Claire's, but that's a personal dislike for dresses with ruffles at the bottom, especially paired with such poofy sleeves.
  6. Unless they retire at the same time, if they bring on a former DCC for either role that girl would be working with the people who were once her coach. You'd need a strong personality to manage that. I loved Jenn C when she came! She was super positive towards the girls, so maybe she could choreograph.
  7. Watching the season 7 finals episode and it's so interesting to see the difference between Jessica and Jenna. With Jenna, she always appeared short, even when she was just in the frame by herself. Jessica, even though she was only one or two inches taller, never looks short to me until I see her at the very end of the kickline and/or next to Jenna and I realize all over again that she must have been tiny.
  8. I'm betting she was also a little disappointed she didn't get a leadership position. She's a fourth year, super powerful dancer, SG the last two years, and seems very mature and well-liked, but didn't even get 2GL.
  9. Maybe this means we'll finally get some retirement announcements! We'll also get ROTY and VOTY - thoughts on who will win?
  10. Based on what I've seen on this board, I can understand Amber being ranked low, though she's one of my favorites! It seems like a lot of people forget her, just because she hasn't been featured much at all despite being an amazing dancer. She's a little like Kinzie to me, who is probably my favorite of all time - beautiful, fantastic dancer, SG for most/all of her tenure, 2GL, but near invisible on the show. She got a bit of coverage her rookie year, but there were so many new girls that year and so many dramatic storylines with Victoria, Dayton, Malena, etc. that she didn't stand out too much on the show unless you really paid attention to her dancing.
  11. In the history of the show, only season 5 had no vet cuts at finals (ignoring the most recent season as there weren't any finals), although in season 6, Olivia Stevanovski's cut at finals wasn't shown. Seasons 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, and 15 had vet cuts in TC, although in season 5, Amy Reese's cut during TC wasn't shown.
  12. Speaking of "less talented" girls who made the team this past year thanks to the lack of proper kickline, jumpsplit, field entrance, new choreography every night, etc...which of the current rookies do y'all think will get cut this year? Especially in training camp, not just at finals.
  13. Courtney from S9 was 5'3" and was asked to be 104 lbs. Colby was 5'9" and was asked to be 136 lbs. Vivian was about 5'5" (estimated from the kickline, never actually stated on the show) and was asked to be 114 lbs. Now I'm being completely hypocritical, considering that my weight goals essentially line up with DCC expectations, but you should not make the "normal" weight of your team be ten pounds lighter than what is considered healthy.
  14. I honestly think it was that she had gained a few pounds off of her initial weight from season 6 - I remember her uniform fitting from that year and she was teeny tiny. Flash forward a few years later and she looked much healthier, albeit very slightly heavier, but since she hadn't "maintained the weight she was selected at" they put her on weight warning.
  15. And I'm pretty sure Maddie is still recovering from her surgery, she wouldn't be ready to do a full-out performance yet.
  16. Me too! Also, wasn't there a change in the choreography? Right after the first roll off they used to do a half turn to the back and then back front before the bending back with bent arms (sorry for my description), here they were doing a bunch of hip circles. I feel like this was a change I haven't seen before, any input?
  17. Amy (screws up the pre-game jumpsplit as a third year) T.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Cassie Kathleen did get a small exit speech when she was cut at finals. Season 7, right? You're right about Carey though, and I suppose the same could be said for Olivia Stevanovski and Amy Reese. I'd like to point out, though, that all of these cuts happened nearly ten years ago; not sure how viewership and interest in the team has changed since then so this may be inaccurate, but I would think there are more people looking at and following the team now than back then simply due to the success (and drama) of the show, which makes me think such disappearances would be more difficult to do now. Who knows though? All I do know is if a vet does disappear this season these boards will be so much fun to follow...
  19. I doubt she would cut a vet off camera and not show the drama unless it's another Erica situation, but even that caused a lot of backlash. Plus, finals are in person this year, and with so many girls in the chairs and on the field at one time no way could someone be cut out of the entire show, so she wouldn't be able to get away with making someone disappear during the season. I think she just wants to maximize drama and interest. This last season of MTT was awful and by withholding retirement announcements, long-time fans of the show may watch the first few episodes just to get that information, and then theoretically get sucked in by the "new and improved, so much better" training camp she's got planned for this year.
  20. I think that, especially for someone like Lily, going to another team wouldn't necessarily be a downgrade. At least from my perspective, she just wants to dance on a team and make friends, she's not in it to improve her dance resume and have that best-of-the-best title. On such a competitive team like DCC, there's so much pressure to be a perfect, world-class dancer with the perfect body and the perfect look, and we've heard lots of rumors of toxicity and cliquishness. On another team, she'll get that family and the experience of dancing on the field without having so much pressure on her, and she'll truly get to enjoy the experience. This isn't saying she's not deserving of DCC! While I agree that she wasn't the best dancer, she was solid and didn't have many memory mistakes, and she was loved by fans and teammates alike, and I wish she could have stayed and ended her career when she felt ready to. I just think that a less pressure-filled environment will really let her shine. (Side note - she'll likely also get to wear her natural hair, which is gorgeous! Why did DCC hide it? Especially since they let her keep it pretty natural her first time in TC...)
  21. Who was the last non-controversial point? Rachel W and Whitney have the whole blackface thing, Amy was one of the most invisible girls in DCC history up until she became point, Maddie and Jenn K and Kashara have always been super polarizing love-them-or-leave-them dancers, and didn't Holly have some scandal that was swept under the rug? Did Mia have anything going against her? Maybe the more appropriate question is who has been the least controversial in recent years, instead of entirely non-controversial.
  22. Right, because everyone is absolutely going to believe that he is going to out his own boyfriend, as both gay and a liar, on social media without warning...how does this guy think anyone will believe this?
  23. Yeah, there was a big discussion about this when it was first posted. The main thing is Rachel tans quite a bit, and so there was debate over whether she actually applied additional makeup to make herself darker or if that's her "natural" (i.e. uber-tanned) skin tone. Either way she could've chosen a safer costume, but if she didn't intentionally change her skin tone then it's very different to Whitney's incident.
