  1. With a real Supernova you'd know billions of years in advance. And before a star goes nova it is a red giant for hundrets of millions of years at least. The romulan sun however, went from a small main series star into a supernova basically instantly and wiped out a whole quadrant instead of just a system (radiation from a real supernova could destroy life in systems further away, but in ST they have planetary shielding for that). So you have to remember: This is a magical supernova, made by space wizards, because otherwise none of this makes sense. Where did they say that it was a matter of years? I'm not going to rewatch Star Trek 09 for this, because fuck that, but I seems to recall that it was a matter of months at most. If it had been longer the romulan star empire would have had enough time to evacuate it's own citizens. They have a massive fleet and warp drives.
  2. I predicted in the episode 1 thread that Benni was murdered... dun dun dun. Didn't think we'd find out this soon why though. Are they hurting for ratings, that they revealed it so soon? And what a cliched reason it was. Of course the unit stole money and Benni wanted to report it. I've probably seen that on 10 TV shows now. Maybe more... It also was really obvious and all the characters are dumb for thinking it was the girlfriend...
  3. It's really not. It is a bit head-hurty, but like I said, she did give birth to this Penny (and every Penny), since the timeline didn't split until the beginning of this show. So it only makes sense that the teather is there.
  4. I always love me some musical episodes. But yes, I agree, this was the weakest one so far. Still, so sad that this show is cancelled. I love it so much. I guess there is no chance that this one might be rescued by amazon, like the expanse was after SyFy cancelled it? Why does SyFy have to cancel great shows before their time? Is some exec getting off on it? The timeline only splits at the beginning of the show, where Jane Chatwin changes shit to get different outcomes. So yes, it would be the same history. And as far as experiences with his mother are concerned all the Penny's are the same, so I'd say in that sense Penny 23 is her son. They are empaths and got overwhelmed by their combined emotions. I mean she gave birth to him before the timeline split, so technically, she is.
  5. So let me get this straight. The Zhat Vash decided, that, after having watched the federation build Androids for decades, the right time to destroy all of Mars and cause the federation to be isolationist, was when a magically big super nova was destroying their whole star empire and killing billions of their fellow Romulans? They couldn't have waited a month? It was that important to do it there and now? Not to mention that it was a stupid plan in the first place. All it did was drive Madox into hiding. Had the synth ban not happened, he would have continuet his research in the open and they could have easily monitored and stopped him when he got close. No searching for a stupid secret home planet! These writers are killing my math skills, because I can't even with them! The rest of the episode was surprisingly okay, but it's hard to fuck up bottle episodes.
  6. @ProfCrash already explained the winner count to you. I'd like to add that there are 38 winners, but only 20 contestants on this season. So not sure why you picked out Todd Herzog specifically. There are a total of 18 winners not on this season. They probably went by order of popularity. Reportedly Rob was a holdout till almost the very end. If he hadn't done it, they would have slotted somebody else in.
  7. Aren't there only 38? There have been 39 seasons before this one, but Sandra won twice. That is how it played out so far, but somebody could betray you and not give it back. If you are in a really bad spot, they could even blackmail you, to give them your half. So the original finder gets screwed over. It is an interesting twist that doesn't do much yet, but could be fun in the individual half of the game. I mean, that is what Sandra will tell you to your face, but behind your back, she will scheme, cheat and spread rumors to get specific people out. I don't get how people still buy the "anybody but me"-line. Rob on the other hand is actually a one trick pony and production had to work really hard to make his one trick work out that one season.
  8. I looooooooove that Rob's stupid buddy system backfired on him. Not so easy when you aren't playing against handpicked Noobs that are only there to give you an easy win, is it?
  9. The first drug worked great. The only problem was nausea. You'd think they could wait a few weeks, see if the sideffect subsides on its own, if that doesn't work, try a related drug, or if all else fails, manage the nausea with a different drug. It's often the case with severe illnesses, that you have to manage a drugs sideeffect with other drugs. As long as it works and doesn't cause any other bad sideeffects, no biggy. You'd certainly try all of that before you go to "Imma gonna go and cut out all of my joints, ya'll!". I'm with @Suzysite . Who writes this shit?
  10. There won't be. The writers just pulled something completely unrealistic out of their asses to make the synth ban more tragic and to make the people who made it happen seem more unreasonable and evil.
  11. Ugh. A silicon based virus? I think this broke me. A virus needs to tell a living cell to produce parts to replicate the virus, from readily availible materials in the cell. Ever heard of a ton of silicon being in human cells? Ever heard of human cells being able to build parts from silicon? Yeah, me neither. These writers clearly don't give a fuck about anything. I think I now get how Doctor Who and Star Wars fans must have felt. I recognised that those franchises went to shit and it kinda made me slightly angry. But I still had a kind of morbid fun hate-watching those things. Even Star Trek Discovery, horribly written as it is, was mostly just fun to riff on, since I never had a deep connection to TOS. But Star Trek Picard. Man, it hurts. The funny thing is, had you asked me a year ago, I probably would have told you that I'm not even a Star Trek fan. But I must have been on some level. Because nothing hurts like this if you aren't invested. I guess watching TNG as a kid left a bigger impact than I reaslised previously. Since it's only three more episodes, I think I will stick it out, but afterwards I'm out. I'm not going to watch anything of a second season, should there even be one.
  12. That's not what she said though. She said "I do love you, but we wouldn't work [because of your autism]". If she had said "Sorry dude, I only like you as a friend", fair enough. But that wasn't the case. If that is her reason, she seriously needs to work on her communication skills. Those things didn't seem to be huge problems when they were friends though. If that was the reason, she should have said so. Instead she said the opposite.
  13. The show has been cancelled? Well that's a bummer. I still love all the Margot and Elliot stuff and had hopes that maybe they could get back Quenting. Guess that's it then... hopefully we'll get one more musical episode? Fingers crossed. The reveal who the dark king was... kinda boring. Oh well. Oh yeah, now that you mention it, I think I remember her. Tbh the books are not very good and kinda forgetable. Love the show so much more. It's in Plover's word salad.
  14. I mean, yes it's about her. But it doesn't seem like she would have to change much. They already worked as best friends who lived together. What more obstacles are there? Maybe you are right, maybe it isn't dumb, but rather contrived, contrived writing. And I didn't say he should. Yes, his autism is a dealbreaker for her. But I don't get why. The show hasn't really shown what the problem would be. So I'm left with, either Lea has some unreasonable fears we don't know the reason for, or the writing is bad. 🤷 They are both horrible cooks and that was supposed to be some kind of cute bonding moment. I also can't understand how you can be so bad at cooking, but some people can burn water. 🤷
  15. I mean you can reject anybody for any reason, sure. But is it just me or are Lea's reasons dumb as hell? They were already best friends who successfully lived together. How much more demanding can a relationship get? I mean it's at least worth a try, right? She gave Shaun fair warning that she was difficult and he wanted to go ahead with it anyway. What's the problem here?
  16. Hui boy. The next shorunner will have to spend a bunch of time retconning this mess. So Jo Martin's doctor was actually pre Hartnell. Which means it makes no fucking sense that her Tardis was a Police Box. Something fans noticed in 5 seconds and Chibnall didn't notice through writing the script, rewrites, shooting and editing. Great. Really shows how much he knows about Doctor Who if he doesn't even know the first two episodes... So why was the Master so pissed that it would drive him to kill all the timelords? Because a small part of the doctor is in him? The past few masters would have been extatic about that one. 😏 Maybe the better question would be "How did he kill them?". The timelords are basically gods. That's why their war with the Daleks wiped out half of the universe. If the master feared anybody in the past, it was the timelords and with good reason. They were badass mofos. How did one crazy guy kill all of them? In generel, this has to be the worst Master ever, by far. He really grinds my gears. Can Michelle Gomez please take a timeout from being regent of hell and come back? That would be great. If the timelord bodies on Gallifrey were all dead, wouldn't that by definition mean that all their regenerations were spent? How did the Master cobble together regenerating Cybermen from them? Even if that would make sense (whcih it doesn't) wouldn't they all be lmited to 12 Regenerations max? And their mechanical parts, which they also need, wouldn't regenerate. Speaking of 12 Regenerations: Why does the Doctor only have 12, when she is the timeless child, that has unlimited regenerations? We saw with Matt Smith, that he got way older than he normaly would have before regenerating, because he had no Regenerations left. My guess? Chibnall forgot or never even knew about the 12 regeneration limit. That's why the sentence in the voice over, that mentions it, feels so clunky. It was likely a last minute edition. At the beginning it was always said that the death particle would destroy all life in the universe. Then suddenly it was only one planet. Why? Because it was shrunk? That's not how particles work! So I guess Rassilon and Omega don't exist anymore? Rassilon who was said to have invented Regeneration, btw. Surely even Chibnall would know them, right? He can't know this little about the show he is running. And then at the end, the cherry on this shit-sundae. The Judoon transmat directly into the Tardis. Through shields that were made by the timelords. Yeah sure. As if Chibnall hadn't fucked the timelords enough this episode already. Also why do they arrest the dcotor now, if the incident happened before even Hartnell? Why didn't they arrest David Tennant. I guess you could argue, from the perspective of the Judoon it happened a week ago, but then why in the fuck was it a "cold case"?! Argh. I don't think I've rolled my eyes and groaned as much at any episode of TV of any show ever.
  17. Urgh, this shit is dumb and annoying and I don't know how much more I can take. Why would anybody extract Borg parts without anesthesia? Obviously just to seem extra cruel to the viewer. Why would you extract 20 year old Borg parts anyway? They can't be worth that much anymore. In the Voyager- era everything Borg was done with Borg nanobots. The assimiliation, the building of parts, etc. I could see those maybe being worth something, but you could extract those non-leathally and then just replicate them, so that wouldn't be SHOCKING. Also great job, Seven, resorting to murdering your 'son' instead of disabling whatever was preventing beaming and getting him out of there. Or grabbing some of the medical equipment lying around and healing him. Btw. how was that a deadly injury for him anyway? His Borg Nanobots should have been easily able to fix this. Let me guess, the writers forgot those were a thing. Another thing the writers forgot: Medicine is basically magic in this time. Madox would have been fixed up in under a minute. The talk between Picard and Seven was stupid. He was part of the collective for a hot second. Sure, it traumatised him, but how would he have ever lost his humanity? I get Picard has morals and bla, but I also remember him being pragmatic. He might not approve of revenge but would he approve of just leaving a mass murderer roaming free to murder some more? I think not. That's some shitty, shitty writing. Now that Aggi killed Madox because of "stuff she knows and she wished he knew, but she can't tell him even on his deathbed, because then the viewers would know and that would ruin the suspense and what do you mean that's not valid character motivation", I'm afraid the rest of Redlettermedia's predictions will come true. It's going to be so duuuuuuuumb. Urgh.
  18. Do you think Anniesboobs has found an immunity idol?
  19. God, Rob's stunts annoy the shit out of me. "Hey, everybody empty your bags beause I said so". Can somebody please nut up and vote that twat out of the game? I'm not sure how much longer I can take it.
  20. I liked it. This is going to bbe interesting. I don't mind the Rob/Sandra feud. Imo Sandras feuds are always entertaining. She will cut a bitch. And I don't have much love for Rob anyway. Kicking out Amber was the logical choice. When Rob and her got split up, it should have been a death sentence for both of them. They have a shared horusehold and probably shared bank account for gods sake. There is not even a theoretical chance to get between them. With every other allience there is, since you can appeal to a single persons selfinterest, but here, helping their partner win is also in their selfinterest. Rob got damn lucky that the noobs let themselves get steamrolled so easily. If they had their head in the game, he would have been out, too. Not gifted, sold. Natalie had to sell it somebody to get the money to buy herself luxury or (more likely) an advantage in the return challange. Nat also could only sell it to somebody of the losing tribe. So Jeremy was out, since his tribe won. It's probably also why she said to Amber "Damn, I really hoped my tribe would have lost." She probably got to decide where the idol would go in case of a loss of either tribe. For her tribe she chose Jeremy, for the other tribe she chose Sandra and so she had hoped that her tribe lost, so it would go to Jeremy.

    Fix The Show

But that makes no sense. The "gender stereotype" is that women are the gatherers and men are the hunters. How about just being able to play two idols and only one of them gets nullified? In past seasons, there have been a lot of people with multiples. I'm not a fan of the nullifier and thin they should throw it in the trash, but if they have to have it, that might be an option.
  22. I think Coach was about the same kind of crazy as Nora and I hated him way more than her, so I can say, I'm good there. She "did" more than the men, but her social game was utter shit and like it or not, that's the most important part in survivor, once you made it to the final 2/3. If that wasn't the case, Russel should have won a few seasons and when Russel said just that Jeff shut him down right away with "that's not survivor". You have to have a good social game. No, future survivor juries need to consider who played the best game and that includes the social game. I don't like this subtle accusation of sexism. In the first 20 seasons of survivor we were close to 50/50 male and female winners. I don't think sexism has become worse in that time, if anything it has become less. So either the game has changed in some weird ways to advantage men, but I don't see such a change, or TPTB are casting shitty female contestants. In that case, yell at Jeff Probst. But leave the jury out of it. Espececially the women? I mean come on. The men were in their underpants like 90% of the time... and I very much appreciated it since there were some nice packages. So if anything it was "especially the men" wearing as little clothes as possile this season. It was muuuuuch worse than Dean's and her social game was abysmal. For the players it's not one hour of television once a week, it's 39 days nonstop. Nobody is going to vote for somebody who annoyed the piss out of them for that whole time. That is part of Survivor! FTC usually doesn't matter and is just for show. The jury usually has made up its mind way in advance.
  23. I hadn't watched the last few season, but decided to watch this one when I heard that Sandra would be on it. I just love her gameplay so much. It's a bit by the seat of her pants, but she is great at gathering information, spreading rumors and controlling the other people through her social game in general. And you can't argue with results. She is a two time winner. Never cared for Boston Rob. Imo he isn't the greatest player. They had to bring him back five whole times and pair him with complete noobs, who were massive fans and thus warshipped him, for him to win in the end. That's not a good track record. But like I said, really love Sandra. So I was really sad to see how underused both of them were. I mean one visit per episode, and in quite a few episodes there was none (or it was edited out). What the hell? Also what was the point with them sitting in on the tribal councels? I thought maybe they would be put on the jury and get some extra votes. That would have been an interesting twist, but nope, they fucked off the island at final 5 and were never seen again. Lame. I think TPTB really wanted to have the idols be a surprise for the players, to the point where I think the players weren't allowed to tell their tribes what was really going on the island of the idols (it seems unrealistic that all of them decided to lie on their own volition). But that added basically nothing for us, the viewer. A tighter integration of the idols into the game, at least from the merge onwards, would have made this a lot more interesting. Otherwise the season was fine I guess. It was a rollercoaster of betrayels, but I don't think there was any stellar gameplay to be found anywhere. I also don't need any of these people back, except maybe Elaine.
