Did you tell her that you were asked? I've had coworkers ask me if they can use me as a reference in the past, but I've never actually been contacted to answer questions about anyone. And whenever I have had to list references, none of my past coworkers have ever mentioned that they were actually contacted. I guess I just assumed most employers don't actually check references?? It might depend what career field you are in too, I suppose.

We celebrate "adoption day" at my house since we don't know when our rescue dog's actual birthday is. We sing to him and he gets doggy ice cream. But it's just our immediate family.

The only show I really would want to see is maybe an update episode 5-10 years from now. But only if some of the kids have made major changes and are living healthy, mainstream lives. If they are still doing the same old things (more babies, no jobs or education) I wouldn't be interested. I want to be proud of them if they can show me progress. There's no way Jill will be the only one to "break free".

The first house I bought was a fixer upper, but mostly cosmetic stuff. It was what we could afford in our early 20's. We had to paint everything before we moved in and got new carpet in 2 rooms. Within one year, we managed to repaint our kitchen cabinets and have professionals replace our tub/shower unit. Then our AC unit went out and needed to be replaced. Over the next few years we replaced kitchen appliances, countertops, and the backsplash. It was kind of fun to get to pick out new stuff and see the drastic improvements. But there were more projects we never did get around to, like replacing all the 50 year old windows. It just started to seem crazy to keep putting more money into the house if we wouldn't get it back when we sold. So our next house was about 20 years newer and move in ready. Much less stressful if you can afford it.

Where I live, the CEU requirements for my LPN license are a joke. I can pay about $20 to take an online class and reading the material is optional. After you read it or skim it, you answer questions like "How will the information you read help you in your job?" You can just b.s. your way through it honestly.

In my state, you just have to take continuing education credits for every renewal. They can be done online, so it's probably Duggar approved.

My husband and daughter have both been to the dentist recently, but I still haven't been since Covid. I think it's been about 16 months, and I dread what they'll find when I finally go. I've been cutting my teenage daughter's hair, which was scary at first, but she hasn't flipped out on me yet. My daughter does my husband's haircuts with a hair trimmer set I got for cheap at the end of 2019. They have fun with it and she gives him funny cuts that she fixes afterwards. My hair is curly and I've been trimming it myself since I was 18. The curls give me margin for error. My daughter and I have always done our own nails or sometimes we do each other's nails. Nice bonding time. The one thing all 3 of us need are eye exams and new glasses. I can tell my prescription isn't right anymore and I have a feeling it's true for them too. But I keep thinking about how close the optometrist has to get to your face when doing an eye exam, and I think, ok I will wait a LITTLE longer.

Yeah, no way is a Duggar going to be allowed to teach a heathen how to fly. A man could come in and make a raunchy joke or a woman could come in with cleavage showing. Obviously this isn't a real business where any random person can come in and be taught how to fly.

I have curly hair, and the only time I can brush or comb my hair is when it's wet. Otherwise, it turns into a massive, frizzy poofball. I have to shower any time I want to redo my hair. I really doubt Jessa is going to go to that much effort every day. Heck, even Henry's hair isn't combed and it would be even easier to deal with.

It sounds like Meniere's Disease to me. There are things you can do to help with the vertigo attacks. Certain exercises. Some people have some relief from their tinnitus by making dietary changes or changing medications. Google vestibular disorders and see if the description matches your symptoms.

I got my first Covid vaccine on Friday. My arm and neck were a little sore for about 36 hours, but that was it. I'm a nurse in an assisted living and I was so happy that all the residents agreed to get the vaccine. No one reported any fever or major side effect from the first dose. We've been very fortunate to not have an outbreak where I work, and this should hopefully keep it that way. Things are definitely looking brighter where I am.

That grammar and punctuation is horrible. I feel so sorry for these kids and their lack of basic education.

I'm old fashioned and still prefer an actual book whenever possible. Especially if it's a hardcover book. But I do have a Kindle and it is definitely less bulky to take on the go. I also like getting free short stories on there that I can read in less than an hour. Sometimes it's nice to start something and finish it in the same sitting.

I was a nurse in a memory care unit for 7 years. It can definitely be an emotionally draining job. I always felt so bad when my residents stopped recognizing their families. I had a resident who was around 90 who stopped remembering her son, If he said, "I'm your son, Mom," she would argue and yell saying, "I never had any kids." I watched that 60 year old man break down sobbing. It tears your heart out. And while it was sad when they died, families would often say that in many ways their parent had died years ago when the dementia took over. I agreed with them. Dementia is a LONG goodbye that takes years. So heart-wrenching.

The idea is that you shouldn't take your mask off until you will be able to immediately wash your hands after removing it.

My hair is naturally curly but the weight of my hair pulls most of the curl out of the first few inches by my scalp. But I have tight spiral curls after that. My hair is probably a little shorter than Abbie's too. But I don't know if hers is a perm or natural. I'm just saying it can happen naturally.

Yes! I really missed getting library books. I read at least 500 pages a week, sometimes more. I have had a Kindle for years, but I hated having to spend money for most ebooks. So I finally checked into my library's ebook program. So many great books on there. (But I still miss holding actual books in my hands.)
