  1. My mistake - thanks for letting me know. And yes, how in the world would that work; in the first place, there's no way to even know who has which guns. I'll have to look up whether Beto addresses any of these issues.
  2. I always watched The Cycle on MSNBC, which is where I first saw Abby, and liked her then, too (she replaced S.E. Cupp, who I intensely disliked ( she's actually watchable now, though - I caught her CNN show a few times over the summer and was shocked at how different she is, politically, so much so that I wonder if she and Meghan are still friends). I honestly don't think I ever had any opinion at the time about Abby's intelligence level. After that show was canceled she ended up at Fox News, and every now and then she'll say something that makes me think she still suffers the residual effects of having been immersed in the groupthink over there, and is sometimes influenced by friends who still work there, and tries to lend credence to certain Fox News talking points in an effort to be fair (and balanced). I don't remember exactly how she phrased it, but she prefaced her comments this morning by saying that she really likes Mayor Pete, so I doubt it was personal. That's something Meghan would do.
  3. So that makes four, since I was thinking "veteran".
  4. And she thinks she's already got it made, so no need to walk out on set looking happy (grateful) to be there, or learn how to have a discussion without using blue cards, or stop talking as fast as she can.
  5. I wonder if we'll hear about this on the show. Meghan's tweet in response made no sense - Beto's not advocating forcibly taking guns away, he's advocating people voluntarily turning their automatic and semi-automatic weapons in and getting paid for them. It's like the Seth Meyers interview all over again - someone makes a reasonable point about something she says, and she attacks. No self-reflection from this girl, nuh-uh. (And she's claiming to speak for every man in Texas.)
  6. I generally like Abby, but I thought it was kind of ridiculous when she said that it really bothered her when Buttigieg asked people who are religious to imagine what God would say about how we're treating the earth -- that she didn't like people saying what God says or thinks, which in general I agree with - it is presumptuous. She probably usually means people saying God thinks you should or should not do this or that, but I hardly think it's presumptive to assume, if there is a God, that he/she would disapprove of how human beings are not taking care of this planet and ensuring it's survival.
  7. I couldn't believe Joy wouldn't have realized this. Also, Joy (I think) said one of Dylan's siblings said they were present and that it didn't happen. Unless they were together 100% of the time that testimony is irrelevant.
  8. I didn't catch it the first time and had to replay it as well. Just as they were going to commercial she said, "Mayor Pete, you're not gonna change antbody's mind on that". She might have said something right before that sentence, but since she wasn't on camera I'm not sure.
  9. I could have written this myself -- so was Whoopie saying Marianne Williamson's suggestion is ridiculous because it's not going to work, but prayers are okay because....they do? Whoopie's never struck me as being particularly religious.
  10. Abby's already had the honor of Joy giving her a lasagna last season. I don't remember if it was for her birthday or just because, but I remember Abby showing a photo of her husband finishing off the last of it. Meghan was pissed then, too, and Joy was noncommittal about her ever getting one.
  11. Whoopie seemed so surprised about Bernie's plan that I wondered if she thought he was now promising all adults $1000 a month like Yang is. I think Bernie thought she was making this mistake, because he made a point of saying he was promising jobs.
  12. But then there are times, like today, when she's dressed (including her shoes), like she's in a 1949 movie adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play.
  13. So Meghan says, with her typical snarl, "Mayor Pete, you're not gonna change anybody's mind on that", about his suggestion that people, of faith and not, think about addressing the climate emergency because it's moral issue. So Mayor Buttigieg, who is more educated, well-spoken, talented and accomplished than Megan is (and they're just about the same age, so I should add more mature to that list). can't possibly cause someone to rethink their position on why and what we need to do about climate change, but she thinks that her opinions are something that people should listen to and come around to agreeing with? Puh-leez. I do wonder why she's so contemptuous of him, since he fits into two of her favorite catagories of people,
  14. It's like they were never away and didn't have a month off to come back relaxed and refreshed. Meghan already looked grim and uncertain walking out to the table. It does seem like she just doesn't want to be there, (and I don't think she does), but I had the thought for the first time today that maybe the visible manifestation of her unhappiness is exaggerated because she wants to make it crystal clear to people whose opinion she cares about (her husband, other conservative somebodies) that she'd really, really, really rather be somewhere else. I'm sure there are other people in the media who are unhappy in their job, but we don't know about it, since they don't carry on like a 3 year old made to sit at the dining room table until they've finished their peas. But Meghan, when at a table of people who are having a conversation, is surly, and avoids eye contact the majority of the time by either looking down at her blue cards (and who, other than Meghan, uses blue cards to have a conversation) or out towards the audience. She's holding herself apart from them and emphasizing, "I'm not a part of this group", almost as if they're beneath her. Maybe she thinks if she were to behave otherwise she would get major blowback from her "tribe" that she was enjoying the company of these people. Meghan, in the gun buy backs I've seen covered on the news, no one comes to your home; people bring their guns to a specified location and get paid there. There's no "gun grabbin'" goin' on. I guess we're not going to hear the last of "the most important political TV show in America" until after the election next year. It was only a headline, not some established fact.
  15. If Meghan admitted that there are other Republicans at the table, she'd have to admit that the way she's treated is due to her own behavior and not her politics. That's why she so dismissive of Abby and Ana's political views and thinks that they aren't conservative enough or true Republicans, and thus don't count. Of course they aren't treated like she is because they're not REAL Republicans. But Abby and Ana are both liked at the table and in the audience by many who don't share their politics, and Meghan knows this. Does she really attribute this to their more "moderate" political stances? That's ridiculous. They're both just nicer people and more pleasant to be around than she is (not to mention, in regards to the show, more talented, more professional and better prepared Being otherwise, like Meghan is, shows disrespect towards one's bosses, co-workers, and the audience).
  16. This is one of the most delusional statements of Meghan's I've ever seen. First, Seth, (who I'm a big fan of as well) rarely has political people on, of any persuasion. He did have one of Meghan's favorite foils - Rep. Rashida Tlaib - on, and asked about her Holocaust comments that some conservatives took offense with. (Handily, while typing this post, Marianne Williamson happened to be on Seth Meyers' show, and he calmly asked her about statements she has made about vaccines and antidepressants, and Williamson, after saying that he was mischaracterizing what she said, calmly explained further what she meant.) Second, so Meghan thinks he spoke to a conservative woman in a way that he shouldn't have gotten away with? This makes it sound like she's someone, in a novel, say - a haughty member of the "upper crust", who should never be spoken in such a way by one of the "hoi polloi". Or maybe, in a different novel, she's a delicate lady who must be coddled. Third - Meghan McCain complains that someone doesn't want to have a conversation, and that they just wanted to lecture her?!!! That describes just about every one of her political "discussions" on The View! She never wants to have a discussion and she's always lecturing, loudly. (Picture side by side Seth's demeanor towards Meghan with Meghan's demeanor towards Marianne Williamson when she was on The View a few weeks ago. Meghan obviously thinks that the way Seth questioned her is unacceptable. But she thinks her method of questioning of Williamson, and other people she doesn't like, is.... ?) Finally, she says she can't get herself in a place where she's "...like, Woe is me..." She's often pointing out on the show how hard it is to be the only Republican there. In the bits and pieces of twitter quotes and print interviews of hers that I've seen (like this one) she's complaining about how hard she has it in various ways. She said it's not fair for her to feel bad for herself, but that contradicts what she said earlier in the very same interview.
  17. Think of the sacrifice she's making actually deigning to live in a blue state.
  18. Thank you -- I tried typing in the URL after clicking on "insert other media", and the URL box turns reddish, but that's it. I obviously need to be doing something different, but the FAQs don't cover it.
  19. She called it a "historical blackout"? That would be "historic" blackout. I can't figure out how to post a link, but I found an article from AM New York dated July 15, 2019 entitled "A Brief History of Blackouts in New York City" , and it lists seven other blackouts that lasted longer and affected more people.
  20. I've often wondered what family dinners were/are like. Are any of her siblings like this, or do they and her mother sometimes have the same reaction towards her that we do?
  21. She always does this because the person she's questioning, however well they've stated their answer, does not sufficiently pander to her. After all, she's Meghan McCain, and she expects everyone to apologize for their faulty thinking, tell her that she's right, and then ask for her forgiveness.
  22. I wonder if she announced it today, and thinking it was available soon, hoped that people would read it and like it (and her) so much that they would clamor for her to be asked back for another season.
  23. You know, I wonder if she's thinking of her father in 2008 wanting to suspend his campaign, and wanting Obama to suspend his campaign (which Obama refused to do, saying something like he could walk and chew gum at the same time) due to the September 2008 financial crash.
  24. Bill de Blasio used this phrase with Meghan at least twice on today's show. I think with this, as well as his full answers to her "interrogation" firmly put her in her place. (I just looked up the meaning of "put her in her place" to make sure I was using it correctly, and it's perfect to use for Meghan - "deflate or humiliate someone regarded as being presumptuous".
  25. No, she didn't; people promoting a book always emphasize the title. I wonder if it even has a title yet, if it's not out until next year. I also wonder if she'll read it at her usual speaking speed.
