  1. They did discuss the comedian who was fired from SNL in the first half of the show. In the second half of the show they did two segments with the NYT reporters who wrote the new book on the Brett Kavanaugh situation, and there was talk about how he seems to have a better reputation now than he did when he was younger. I actually wondered if Whoopie was referring to herself. She also has a habit of defending herself. So who knows. It could have been anyone, or all of them.
  2. Wow -- Meghan has some questions about Biden. I don't think I've been more shocked by anything she's said on the show.. She misspoke - Warren and Biden aren't splitting the progressive vote; Warren and Sanders are. Meghan usually complains when no one agrees with her. Now she's getting snippy with her friend Abby, ("That's what I just said" and makes a face), who's agreeing with her! She surprised Abby, I think, but Abby played nice. Who do you think Whoopie was referring to at the end of the show when she shook her finger and said, "And remember, people change"? It was odd for her to say something like that seconds before the show was over, with no context. I wonder if there was a "spirited discussion" during the break.
  3. I didn't catch that! I had never heard of Sean Davis, so I didn't finish reading the sentence. One thing that's not entirely clear from the Newsweek article is if Max Stier actually was one of Bill Clinton's attorneys, or simply worked at the law firm where other Clinton lawyers practiced.
  4. Abby said the NYT only used one source in reporting the previously undisclosed allegation, but I believe that's permissible because that person brought it to the attention of the FBI and Senate last year, and the NYT reporters had 2 officials corroborate that. (I think if the allegation had just been told to the reporters, they would have needed more sourcing.) The new witness, Max Stier, well-known in D.C., who Meghan emphasized was a Clinton lawyer, as if that's all it would take to discredit him, looks like he has an impeccable reputation among both Democrats and Republicans -Newsweek.
  5. I caught that as well. Since the end of their first week back I've noticed from time to time that Abby looks unhappy when she's just listening to the others talk. Her face actually looks drawn. I hope she's okay.
  6. Did someone, maybe Whoopie, say the authors of the article (and forthcoming book) were going to be on the show soon? I thought so, but wasn't sure, and didn't feel like rewinding. Thanks for the information. That's okay if you can't find the link; I just wanted to make sure I didn't bestow all the credit on James, just in case.
  7. The James Corden monologue is worth watching in it's entirety. It's beautifully written (I don't know if he wrote it, but his delivery was just right -YouTube. It's about 8 minutes long. Didn't Meghan "meet" her husband on Twitter?
  8. And incorrectly, more often than not. I believe Meghan tries to looks extra smart by consciously sprinkling a lot of big words throughout her conversation, and doesn't really care if she gets the meaning or pronunciation right. If I'm wrong, and she doesn't realize this, I wonder why no one in her work or personal life has pointed it out to her? I can't think of anyone else, who's job is to be on tv regularly, that makes verbal mistakes almost daily.
  9. However ill advised Castro's pushy question was, asking Biden if he didn't remember something that he had just said, I don't think he was engaging in ageism. If so, he'd be doing the same thing to Sanders, but Sanders hasn't done anything that could be criticized on that basis. Everyone ages at a different rate and experiences varying effects of aging. I agree with Sunny that Biden's frequent inarticulateness is a potential problem. Meghan's engaging in hyperbole again - Beto has not restarted his campaign 10 times, just twice, and this last time it wasn't to "create a splash"; he was genuinely affected, and horrified, by the mass shooting in his hometown, and the lack of concrete action taken by anyone to address the problem.
  10. I thought "Um....that's already happened, and unfortunately, it didn't matter."
  11. I I don't think Abby is unintelligent, per se. She's well spoken and can ask clear, concise questions. But I think she's still partly influenced by her time at Fox News and being immersed in their way of thinking (such as it is). She's mentioned still having friends there, and I imagine she still watches. There have been a few times when she's said something that sounds just like something they would say over there. I don't remember thinking she wasn't very bright when she was on The Cycle on MSNBC. With three kids under 2, she's probably not spending a whole lot of time thinking issues through, and just says the first thing that comes to mind. So, since The View chooses to talk about Biden, Warren, Sanders and Yang, those are the ones to watch, according to Meghan. Does Whoopie realize how selfish she sounds when she says that all she wants to hear about in the debate is what's in it for her and she doesn't care about anything else? There are issues that aren't ever going to affect me personally, but will affect others, and the way a candidate addresses them gives voters insight into the values that person holds.
  12. It sounds like we might have Joy as moderator more often, since ABC is giving Whoopie time off to film The Stand (one of my favorite books ever). I wonder if it also means we'll be seeing more of Ana?
  13. You have a point. I went back and checked, and Meghan did say, after Sunny read the disclaimer about Mark Halperin's denial of any unwanted physical interactions, "Okay, so he didn't admit it. I messed that up. Sorry". But Meghan wasn't saying that she was incorrect about him exposing himself, and he hasn't been accused of that.
  14. If it were any of the other hosts, I'm sure they would be issuing a correction tomorrow. But Meghan never seems to have issue corrections. If there is one, someone else will be doing it on her behalf.
  15. I'm need to check the calendar to see when hell is gonna freeze over - I found myself taking Meghan's side in her exchange with Joy about there being a spectrum of inappropriate behavior. Al Franken's "uniqueness" and "intelligence" should not make him more deserving of a comeback than someone who's more average. How discriminatory is that - I'm surprised at Joy. She does seem to give more leeway to people she likes (Woody Allen). She also lumped Billy Bush in with Mark Halperin, Charlie Rose, and Matt Lauer, but the difference is almost black and white. (One thing I do think Meghan was incorrect about is Mark Halperin exposing himself to women. I didn't think that he did that particular disgusting thing, so i looked it up to make sure -Huffington Post.) Meghan did look foolish when, after being shown video of the sparse attendance at a rally Trump Jr. was a part of, she became flustered and decided to completely ignore that, saying,"the quotes in the article support what I just said". (I read about this almost two weeks ago, but it seemed like she hadn't heard about it at all - Newsweek.
  16. Whoever was doing hair today was in a side part mood, which didn't do Abby or Sunny any favors. I wonder if Meghan thinks she's a good off-the-cuff speaker, you know, talking at warp speed, trying to look smart using big words, but mangling them or using them incorrectly. Meghan said Kamala should just apologize, that "we all say dumb things". But when does Meghan ever apologize for something she's said? Sunny was really emphasizing that Joe Biden makes a lot of gaffes. I wonder if she reads here and saw that people were complaining that he always gets a pass from them. Whoopie says he gets a pass from them "because a couple of us really, really, really know him." What does that have to do with anything? They like him, and they know he means well, so it's okay if he makes a mistake here and there? I doubt they know him as well as people who are in daily contact with him. Have they spent a lot of time with him lately? I do think Biden is showing signs of age-related forgetfulness, that not every mistake stems from his habit of making gaffes, and I do find it worrisome.
  17. I've thought this for a while - there are so many ways they're alike. I keep thinking I should make a list.
  18. Well, Meghan dresses like a schoolmarm sometimes, so I guess she thinks she should act like one. Abby posted on Twitter on June 25 about accidentally leaving George outside the bodega (it looks like she's removed it, but it's still on her Instagram page). She was already off by then; maybe Whoopie or one of the other hosts mentioned it at the time? I give her credit for admitting it not once, but twice now, considering the amount of criticism she received (which I imagine is why she removed the tweet. I happened to see it initially since I check her twitter feed for baby picture postings.) Thank goodness George was okay, and it's less likely to happen again since I'm sure she's extra diligent now.
  19. Like Seth Myers challenged her on his show. But for some reason Meghan thinks that she can be the nastiest challenger out there (even audience members!), but how dare anyone question her at all.
  20. Ironically, just last night I happened to mention S.E. Cupp in a post here where I said she comes across so different politically on her CNN show from how she used to be, and I even wondered if she and Meghan were still friends because of that. Well, I take it back; I was so wrong. Maybe she recently "softened up" for tv. As you said, her tweet about the subject of eugenics was not at all correct, and then she ended it by saying "the fact that Bernie Sanders is willing to entertain this vile idea is not only disgusting, it should be disqualifying." I think condemning someone based on a falsehood is pretty disgusting. Kudos to Whoopie for actually having the correct facts about both Sanders' answer and what eugenics is. After doing some research, it looks like the far right wing immediately sprang into action to intentionally mischaracterize what Sanders said, because why let a little thing like facts get in the way of faux outrage. It also fits into their narrative of Democrats as baby killers. Sanders' main point in his answer was that low-income women in other countries who WANT fewer children should have access to birth control. Here's a Washington Post article that delves more fully into the question, the answer, and the reaction.
  21. That was one of the many thoughts going through my head at the time,
  22. Meghan should follow her own rule; we would hardly hear from her.
  23. So if Meghan didn't interpret it the way "everyone in the Democratic Party" did (so she says). Now she's starting to think she's qualified to speak for everyone. Sanders' statement was clear - if anyone is hearing it through a prism, that's the problem. Even Whoopie understood exactly what he was saying. Did Meghan just tell Joy she could say something "...if it's factual"? I can't even decide what to say about this.
  24. I think Woody Allen was probably given the benefit of the doubt at the time of the initial investigation due to his fame and reputation. If he was just an anonymous person, things might have been looked at differently.
