  1. Why can't we have separate threads for seasons?  The episode to be broadcast in the US on November 30 is season 3, episode 7 "Work to Rule."  Canadian viewers appear to be getting season 4.  It would be much clearer to have separate threads.

Thank you to everyone who includes the episode number and title in comments.

Miss Sass awfully, but can’t think of a relevant British counterpart.

An ancient Briton, painted blue with woad?  (Whether they actually did is questionable, but ... )

that's WAY too easy... where's the trick?

I had the same reaction, but I have second guessed myself into wrong answers too many times, so I stuck with Sinatra.  Remember James H's recommendation of reading nonfiction books written for children.

It got very, very annoying hearing 1 Man, 1 Career, 1 Team over and over and over again.

    For me too.

Good for Deanna!  She chose her DD wagers quickly, and she's a fellow southpaw!  Are there any statistics about left-handedness among Jeopardy contestants?

  5. Week 9: 3/5.

Tuesday was painful: I knew it was Ethiopia but couldn't remember the capital in time.  Wednesday I at least knew it was too early to be Lewis or Clark.

Bringing 3 breadsticks (plus a basket of them) and appropriate dips etc.

Well, I was thinking of breadsticks because they are shaped like a number one. Would you settle for an eclair? Maybe a ladyfinger?  (Although if I get tomorrow’s FJ, that creates a whole new challenge. 😉

We could use Roman numerals, because there are sometimes questions about those.  Breadsticks work until you're close to 100; then that doughnut (with a bite out of it) would work.

  7. The rest of Annika's team are unaware of what she said in the comedy club, and Michael walking out? Even if no one in the club knew Annika and Michael, the story could spread, and someone could recognize the descriptions of A & M.

And it felt rushed to tack it on to the end of the episode too.

Especially since the preview showed Mags having a heart problem, so it may have distracted some viewers from the rest of the episode.

I missed the first few minutes due to a local news interruption. Was the dad patient with a shouty daughter and getting a hysterectomy transgender?

No, he had both male and female parts, a rare natural condition.  He had not known about it.

I thought I had heard her answer a couple of other times w/o her answer being in the form of a question, and they let it go, but then I chalked it up to not hearing correctly.

This came up a year or two ago, and someone said that they edit out some of the "What is" parts to speed up the broadcast game.  I don't know whether that is true.

  11. The title "The Irrational" is interesting. For many shows ("The Equalizer," "The Good Doctor," etc.), the title describes the main character. In this show, Alec is not (supposed to be) irrational, but he studies irrational thinking and behavior.

But even though I do know Virginia Woolf wrote "A Room of One's One," somehow I've never actually read it, so I don't feel like I deserved to get that FJ.

Deserving a point does not require reading the book, or even actually knowing the answer.  Fortunately for many of us, lucky guesses count!
