  1. The MIT chapel hosts services of many religions, plus weddings and occasional non-religious events.  Maybe Mary was imagining that there were only non-sectarian services.  If she can't tolerate a chapel that sometimes has services that are not her particular flavor of Baptist, she can go soak her head as far as I'm concerned.

  2. Hetty could have been worse off. At that time it was not unusual for a husband to have his wife put away in a madhouse: for being depressed, for not acting like a doormat, etc.

The coach intended harm, the gf did not.
So maybe the coach gets whatever the sentence is for Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, and the gf gets off?

Thank you, I wondered about that too.  Coach Dad intended harm (temporary harm?) but not necessarily death, and did not know about the medicine the gf gave the victim.  Manslaughter 2 sounds about right.  (IANAL)

    159.       ALPHABETICAL AMERICA - Until Alabama became the 22nd state, this one was first alphabetically (Connecticut)

This was also an asterisk -- they all wrote Arkansas.

ETA:  For today's FJ, I said Harlequin.  Would that count?

  5. If Hetty hanged herself, wouldn't the rope make marks higher up, under her chin and ears, where they would not be covered by her clothing?

If Sam or Jay researched old newspaper reports of Hetty's death, or her death certificate, I wonder what they would find.  Some old newspaper stories include a lot of detail, but others might gloss over the cause to spare the family.

My ravioli was Rao's Four-Cheese. They are pricey for a frozen dinner so I was extra pissed about that. Glad yours stayed on the plate.

I hope you have a dog or other animal that would happily eat floor ravioli.

  7. poltergeist is a noisy or unruly ghost or spirit. People who believe in them say they like to make unexplained noises or move things.  I once visited some people who said their house had a poltergeist.  I sat in front of a bookcase, and a book fell on my head.  The people said that book must have something very meaningful in it for me.  I read the book, but nothing.  (The house was old and a bit rickety, so that's my explanation.)
