S06.E14: Scratch and Grain, Bottle Bright, Vestpakz, EvRewares
marny replied to yeswedo's topic in Shark Tank
To me, the best justification for the cookie mix was, if you aren't someone who bakes often, you don't want to have to buy all those ingredients in the large quantities they come in. You don't want 5lbs of flour, a pound of sugar, etc., you just want enough stuff to bake a batch of cookies. And especially with the types of ingredients in their mix (flax seed, organic sugar, whatever), you're going to pay a lot more than $11 to get those ingredients-- and have way more quanitity than you want. If you add up what you'd pay just to get all those ingredients, you'll pay closer to $30-40, and then wind up having a lot of leftover ingredients you may never bother using again. It's perfect for the upper middle class Whole Foods parent who is looking for a way to keep the kids busy for a few hours. For someone who bakes regularly, it isn't meant for you. -
Has there ever been a co-host who has left without there first being a denial of the rumors that they were leaving?

S07.E01: 2017 / S07.E02: Ron & Jammy

How disappointing. I was loving the notion of an attorney with the last name Vorp, and thought it was a great made-up name. Knowing it's a sports nerd thing ruins the funny for me. -

I was laughing really hard at the names of the lawyers at the law firm who's handling the Newport land sale. Some of them appeared to be just random sounds spelled out. -
My husband bought me a "I Want to Draw a Cat For You" as a cute birthday present this year (I sing his song around the house constantly). The shipping took longer than promised-- it was ordered at the beginning of October and it didn't arrive until the beginning of December (at the time he ordered it, the site said 4-6 weeks shipping, but now says he isn't taking new orders at all, so I'm guessing he fell behind in drawing). However the drawing was cute and made me laugh.

Rocco has never turned down an opportunity to be on tv in his life, no matter how trashy the show. -
S06.E12: Mensch on a Bench, Eve Drop, Q Flex, Hoppy Paws

I think the reindeer prints were meant to be used outside on the walkway. The creator said something about other people in the neighborhood seeing them on the walkway and wanting to know where she got them. What's strange is that she seemed to live in a warm climate, so why would there be unmelted snow tracks at all? The tooth fairy and Easter bunny ones would make more sense for indoors. -
I was torn between trying to decide if the biggest problem with this mess was the bad acting or the bad writing. I ultimately decided: both. The plot has so many holes and unexplained actions Why did Tom follow his dad when he left the house? Was he suspicious of something? Just nosy? We still don't know. Why did the Solano daughter and her boyfriend keep throwing shade at other townspeople who we know hadn't actually done anything wrong? Why did Vince, a grown man, get a kid's name tattooed on his arm? Because they went secretly hunting together once? Please. And why did he almost shoot the dog? And all the stuff about Rosemont could not have been less relevant to anything. And they kept telling Carver he was suspended, yet kept letting him work on the case. It was all just a jumble of nonsense. Then there's the acting. Danny's dad was the biggest "smell the fart" actor ever. When Carver told the family it was Joe, Mark looked like Carver told him it was going to rain. Zero reaction. When Tom was in the bathroom telling his mother what happened, I burst out laughing at his attempt to show emotion. And the actor who played Joe looked like he was half-smiling the whole time he was telling Carver he's a pedophile. I can't imagine how bad the auditions for this show must have been if those were the actors who got the roles. Poor Anna Gunn.

I thought it was very sweet when Nicolle got teary- eyed talking about her mother and how great she is. It's nice seeing her sincerity when she talks about her family. It's much more enjoyable than Bitsy pretending her children ask profound patriotic questions, or Sherri telling mortifying stories about her son getting a boner when he sees pretty girls.

She was trying to talk about the peaceful protests in Hong Kong that have been going on for over a month now. She bungled it and said it was in Japan before she was corrected by one of the other women.

He smashed his phone, not the drive. Presumably because he wanted to prevent the ability to GPS track him through his phone.

I think they can't get less than the cash amount they asked for, but they can get more.

While Adam's away on business, do the kids at the school not have lunch? Who's running the kitchen? -

My biggest question about this damn show is, "What do the writers want us to think of Christina?" Do they think they're writing her as this awesome super-mom who handles her terribly-behaved child well, and is a modern-day hero? Because she's a terrible mother. Terrible. She does nothing to try to help her son's social skills, re-enforces his terrible behavior, and ignores anything that takes her attention away from Max. Are we supposed to think she's awful? Because I think she's awful. And if they aren't writing her to be awful, then they are terrible writers. -
I'd be happy if she replaced Whoopi, but it wouldn't help to adjust the age demographics of the panel.

I hate to defend Bitsy, and I may have to go shower after doing so, but her mysterious health issues could justify her not bringing her kids to the theater to see Sherri in Cinderella. But also, the part of me that hates Bitsy wonders if she would be comfortable with taking her daughter to a show that features a black Cinderella with a white prince. That's probably unfair of me.

S06.E08: The Natural Grip, Priority One Canine, Man-PACK, Bottle Breacher

They wear the same things pretty much the whole season for editing continuity purposes. It's most noticeable with Barbara and Lori who wear the same dress and jewelry in every episode. The episodes are shot marathon-style over the course of several days/weeks, and the pitches aren't in the order we see them. I think Barbara has described the process in interviews. So it's pretty likely the military entrepreneurs didn't make their pitches all at once. -
Unfortunately not. She was doing it a lot while Rosie P was talking during Hot Topics.I like Nicholle, but her touting the female Republican candidates for no other reason than their gender really angered me. The Joni Ernst woman she mentioned wants to outlaw IUDs (along with other batshit crazy positions). She's no friend of women. I wish the other panelists were knowledgeable enough to counter Nicholle's recommendation more strongly.

I thought she said she had a baby at 17, so she could be 21 now but the kid is still 3. For example, If she was 17 and 10 months when she gave birth, she'd be 21 after 3 years and 2 months went by, but the kid would still be 3. I agree that the woman begging for a dollar to "show her boobies" was really sad. That was a rough looking strip club, and her co-workers were not the typical ladies you imagine as strippers either. With what she's making, it may be time for her to look for more traditional work.

Boring. This show is just boring. I'd read somewhere that the show-runner had said that the 4th episode would be some sort of turning point that would hook in the viewer, and that if it didn't hook you, you should quit the show. Whelp, I quit.

Whoopi is pretty clearly the weak link at this point. She doesn't bother to learn the details of the topics, she isn't down to earth in her opinions, she tries to disguise her ignorance by loudly being wrong, and she always needs to have the last word. The other 3 women are much smarter, and at least try to have a handle on the topics before shooting off their mouths. Unfortunately, it would cost the show a lot to buy out Whoopi's contract, so she remains as the moderator bringing down the group. If they'd really wanted a "new" View, they should have taken the money they wasted on the new set and tables and all that and paid Whoopi to go away.

I think my biggest problems with the show are the casting and some of the poorly written lines. Mark is completely wooden and charmless, and barely seems to acknowledge that his son died just a few days ago. Beth looks practically the same age as her daughter. For the first few episodes, I assumed her daughter was her sister-in-law. Carver keeps having to deliver these clunky, exposition- heavy comments. None of the characters are likeable. I'm sure I should feel sorry for Beth and Mark, but I don't like them enough to care. Anna Gunn deserves better.

I believe it was mentioned that a 10-day stint at the gringo shaman's camp was $1,000. I thought that was much cheaper than I expected it to be if the goal was to really take advantage of people. I'm sure the shamans make a good deal of money, but they could be really fleecing tourists. My take on it was, I don't know if it actually helps or if it's psychosomatic, but if it offers any kind of relief for those who are suffering, I'm all for it. I did have concerns about the artist guy who said it was his 32nd time. He didn't mention any goal other than to basically free his mind or "vibrate at a higher frequency" or other nonsense, and I feel like he's going to end up brain damaged.

Probably because she's never actually been listening before.

I love love loved Nicolle when she was talking about how she yells at cyclists and cab drivers and inattentive nannies on the street. That made me literally want to be best friends with her so we can rant at all the jerks riding their bikes like they own the street. She and I may not agree on all of our politics, but I'll be damned if she hasn't made me like her.
