She does have that classic DCC Barbie look going on. Little bit fake, little bit dated, lot of glam, etc. I’ll give credit where it’s due. She may end up shared point just yet. Don’t think she could handle a whole routine.

I’m fully prepared to get a lot of hate for this, but I think this is a great photo and I could see it on the cover of the sideline calendar selling tons of copies.

If she tones down the extremely pink makeup and does something about her teeth, she will look amazing. I may not like her, but she’s not ugly. The problem with her is whatever the hell she did to her poor teeth, the always crazy hair and the even crazier makeup.

I agree, if we are talking looks, Victoria is a half decent DCC, around the lower half of the field of all time DCC's.

It is the messed up East Texas nepotism that surrounds her wherever she goes that inspires so much anger/anguish. This doesn't make her less pretty! At the same time, Brennan's great personality doesn't make her prettier or more photogenic.

This brings me to rookie Marissa: I haven't seen her dance or anything, but whatever person she turns out to be, she definitely hasn't got the DCC look. By Jove, she is not photogenic.

If both the spirit squad and the football team are paid to entertain the viewers, then why should there be a distinction?

Also, I used the previous poster’s terms. I have read posts about cheerleaders “passing for white”. Does Rachel Wyatt qualify as “passing for white” or is she considered “Asian”? How do you even determine that?

That is as subjective to me personally as some of Kelli’s feedback to the training camp candidates.

I did not define the groups mentioned.

Rachel Wyatt is a living proof of the highly subjective concept of groups or even race. The 'passing for white' phrase is really the proof of the intellectual bankruptcy of this way of thinking. Don't you think?

The NFL is 70% black. Should the cheer/dance squads on the sidelines also be 70% black to mirror the teams? Should the racial makeup of the spirit squads be in proportion to the US 2020 census? Should the NFL teams?

What is your solution? Are Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans adequately represented in by the Cowboys football team? I am assuming your position is those groups are not adequately represented on the DCC roster.

    Again, what is your solution?

It is about the viewers, not the players. No one pays to be on a NFL team, only the players get paid to be on a NFL team. The viewers/expectators/fans pay to see the game.

The representation makes only sense from this perpective.

Also, hispanics , asians and native americans are on the DCC squad. Alanna, Rachel and Lisa are on the team, aren’t they?

Also, asians and native americans are ethnic qualifications, the term hispanics is not.

She brags on her pageant wins A LOT -- it's clear she's very insecure and she uses those to try and convince others (and herself) that she's pretty.  But I agree with you 100%.  Even in this photo you can tell she was very particular about the angles to minimize her nose and forehead -- so I'm not buying the "here I am in my natural state" BS.

Sadly for her, it's still an extremely unflattering photo.

Dissingenuous is a strong word but Marissa reminds me of Bethany from Jumaji (not her looks mind you, just her behaviour)

I still think she's cute lol. Also I think it's kinda ironic that you pulled a pic where her caption is all about self love and accepting your flaws without makeup or filters, and empowering others as well.

One might wonder whether it is a good idea to expose Marissa to such a demanding environment as a beauty pageant competition if she has clearly so much issues with the mental side of these competitions.

She clearly wants to do them and wants the limelight. Somehow she wants to measure herself against others.

This is fine but she cannot expect others not to have an opinion of her looks when she participates in said competitions.

I think she doesn’t have the looks. I haven’t seen her dance but she has to have Nicole Hamilton/Melissa Wallace times 3 dance ability to make up for her looks.

LOL. I remember a couple of weeks after the 2018 squad was finalized there was a conversation going on about the girls flying under our radar. Someone mentioned Amber and I popped in with a "Who?" And they were like "Amber, the rookie." I was like "there's an Amber?" And then I can't remember if it was here or maybe on a different group I put my foot down and was like "Guys, there is no Amber!"

It all ended finally when a generous soul legit had to post a screenshot of the squad photo with Amber circled. It was then, and only then, that I finally realized Amber was a DCC rookie and I just had never noticed her.

😂 Gosh I can be such a doofus sometimes!

You are right. I also forget she is on the squad!

Literally every. single. time. I see Amber, I ask “who is that?” Pretty girl, but she is the definition of forgettable for me.

I think that a DCC should be formidable not forgettable.

This perfectly exemplifies why I'm not a fan of seniority over dance chops.

I never preferred either but would take Maddie over Amy for me.  Different strokes.  It's all good!

Maddie over Amy. Every. Single. Time.

Point will always be somewhat controversial. I get that. Kashara’s second year at point is pretty much the only year in recent times where I thought there was a clear cut person for point (and I know that some people wanted Lacey).  But even if someone disliked the point, the other girls in the triangle were usually great performers too.

What annoyed me about last year is that they went with Maddie and Amy for what seemed to be no reason other than seniority, and then, the other girls in the triangle weren’t great either. It was just bizarre. Think of previous years where girls could’ve shared point - we could’ve had Kashara/Lacey, Jennifer/Jenna, Holly/Emma, Mia/Jackie, Whitney/Ashton, etc... Literally, every one of those pairings would’ve been 10x better than Amy/Maddie, but that’s what we got! I still don’t get the logic. Were thru just mad at Gina or scared that they would piss of the senior vets by throwing some of the great 2 years (from last year) up there? It made no sense, and I hope they don’t repeat the same error this year.

    That’s right.

The pairs Kashara/Lacey, Jennifer/Jenna, Holly/Emma, Mia/Jackie, Whitney/Ashton cannot be in the same sentence as Amy/Maddie. There is just no comparison. 100x better.

Amanda/Kelcey or Rachel W/Caroline can compare.

If this pans out to be true, I'm going to be really bummed.  I always liked Caroline.  But for me, my opinion only, this comes across showing a lack of judgement and being selfish.  I get it.  They're young and it's a holiday weekend,  But we've all had to give things up during this pandemic.  It definitely sends a bad message.  Especially from Tess, a GL.

The problem is that everyone between 16-29 is fragrantly ignoring best practices in regards to the pandemic.
It takes a joined effort from all levels of authority to bring this to the attention of this age bracket. The worst one can have in these type of situations are mixed signals.

As long as there is so much noise about these best practices (not even consensus) it would take a Brennan to understand and own up to ones responsibility.

I cannot blame the girls for this.

I get what she was saying, I’m just saying people have gone to the lake ALL summer, just like they always do. It’s the lake...outside.

You are right about outside. Standing too close to others is the problem.

Her calling out/accusing that rookie In season 6 in front of everyone was completely savage. That was enough to make me dislike her. There’s no sugar coating, “the show twisted it” about that situation- the words that came out of her mouth were unfair and wrong and did nothing but humiliate the rookie. Doubt that would’ve  been tolerated in other professional sporting environments.

Alhough Cassie deserves every single insult in the book for her part in this horrible turn of events, the true culprits for this are Judy and Kelli.

They allowed a 18 year old girl in their care to be bullied, failing to defending her against others and herself.

Really gut-wrenching unprofessional mean girl stuff.

I would LOVE to see Amanda at point but I think she’s an unconventional beauty. She has a beautiful but different look, and we all know that she likes a more standard look up front. Kelcey has more of a shot.

Whoever said Amber, I love her but she’s shorter and dances really low to the ground. I miss Bridget, she would’ve been the perfect point.

I think Amanda would be a great point. Different is not bad, as long as different is accompanied with photogenic.

I haven’t seen a bad photo from Amanda. This is not the case with other girls on the squad.

Kelcey would be fantastic too. It is a luxury problem. I can’t wait for them to be point.

If you followed a religion that said Blacks are “less desirable,” would you still be a racist? Um, yeah. You would.

Using religion to excuse your homophia doesn’t make you any less of a bigot.

The use of the word homophobic in regards to Rachel should be carefully used since it has such far reaching implications. If one is fine with these implications e.g. ‘following the muslim, jewish and big chunks of christian faith is homophobic’ then indeed Rachel is homophobic.

I think that all the works of perfect Christian virtue spring from love and have no other objective than to arrive at love.
I would never say, do or write anything homophobic.

Wait so did she say that her belief is that being gay is not a positive thing? Coz it seems self-explanatory that the Bible does not espouse positive views towards homosexuality.

I'm a bit confused too, are you saying that Rachel W is or is not homophobic? Surely it's pretty clear cut that if someone posts messages from the bible that can only conclude that the bible does not view LGBTQ+ relationships positively that it would imply that said person had homophobic beliefs and is therefore homophobic...

Being homophobic requires a bit more enthousiasm than following religious beliefs that perceive LGBTQ+ as less desirable. The term homophobic would apply to so many followers of religion, that the term would lose its meaning. Don’t you think so? Almost all muslims, jews and a big chunk of christians would be homophobic by default.
Happily, this is not the case!

So I do not think Rachel is homophobic.
