  1. I think Tom Payne is(and looks) way too old to be playing the son of Michael Sheen and Bellamy Young. I mean, at least Sheen looks kinda older, so I can say he's mid 50's, but Bellamy Young looks like she could be playing Tom Payne's older sister, not his mom. The 13 year difference is way more obvious between them then the 14 year old difference between Sheen and Payne. I guess we're supposed to think "She's rich, she had some GREAT work done so she looks twenty to thirty years younger than she is" because...yeah I don' buy it. But I don't buy a lot of what Payne is bringing to this role. I'd much rather watch a Young/Sheen centric show.
  2. An actor who is a producer is usual a producer in name only. It's a way for them to get more money. And Kristen Bell owns her big start to Rob Thomas. And part of the trust between creator/actor is doing what they think is best for the character. So are you saying Kristen Bell should've said to Rob Thomas, the man who gave her, her big break, a good friend, "No, if you kill off Logan I won't do the show!" ANd after, she was supposed to trash the decision? KB obviously agrees with the direction, but from what I read, Thomas called her, told her the plan for the season 4 and the big twist, and her reaction was positive. Of course it was. Maybe she thought she'd get a real meaty scene of reaction to Logan's death in season 4(she didn't....which again, I think the death was too rushed, too soap opera-y/bad 80's cop show twisty, so I'm not exactly a fan of it either) OR maybe she thinks it will give her tons of juicy material in season 5. But I don't think she had any influential at all on the script nor do I think, as some have stated, that she didn't like Logan, wanted him gone and so he's gone.
  3. So I have to say, it's pretty discouraging that some people are blaming Kristen Bell for Lgoan getting killed over because of comments she had 15 years ago about how Logan was toxic for Veronica(which, at the time he was. Of course Veronica became toxic for Logan this season...). To blame one of the few actresses out there who could is popular enough to be a reason for a 15 year old cult show to come back is a little discouraging. 'm sure Kristen Bell had nothing to do with the decision. It's really unfair to make a villain out of a woman, because "It's what she wanted" It signifies some pretty negative stereotypes about women. As for Logan's death...I felt it was pretty cheap, wasn't given the proper time to land, and came out of left field. It was also on the cruel side "Oh look they're married. Oh look, he's dead while Veronica is still wearing what they got married in!" It felt like something out of a soap opera and kind of beneath the writing for the show. I kinda wish they would've explored more about how Veronica was the toxic component of this relationship. I think Logan should've left her at the alter and should've said, "I love you but you need help" because she REALLY does need help. LIke, I wasn't a fan of "Veronica is the toughest person I know" voicemail because, she's tough but she's also severely effed up, and that's part o the toughness. Logan got over Lily's death, his dad being a psycho and his mom killing herself. Veronica DID NOT get over Lily's death, her mom abandoning her, being raped, and losing everything(and witnessing just how scummy people are). ANd now she's lost Logan and I feel like instead of addressing her issues, it's just piling on more. I love that Veronica is damaged. I loved this season. It felt much closer to season one than anything else. But I do think that season 5 needs to be about Veronica addressing her damage, not piling more on and I felt Logan leaving her, and forcing her to really look at herself would've been the better avenue for it, not Logan dying. So it's a shame that the "cheap" thrill is how it ended. ANd it's also a shame that LoVe is again dominating the Veronica Mars conversation. For a show about a female lead, it was a real shame when season 3 became more LoVe than anything else(yes, to all the "Logan didn't have much screen time" comments..He did, in season 3, aka the worst season). Overall, I definitely hope they get a season five. I don't want this show for LoVe or for Logan, though I know some fans do, and some are very passionate about that(I remember back in season 3, when fans just RAILED on anything Veronica did against Logan). I watch this show for Veronica. I like things they set up but they NEED to address Veronica's issues and not just embrace it. I don't want Veronica to become one of those "Just rebelin'" detectives, because those are boring. Veronica was such a more complicated character than that, because despite the damage, she was..as Wallace had said, "A marshmallow". So to just harden and harden, and harden, and regress, regress, regress, you reach a moot point where she risks being a cliche. So IMO a lot rides on season 5, which like I said, I hope there is one. I understand fans who don't(to a point). But I will repeat, let's not blame Kristen Bell.
  4. I really hope that Veronica not wanting to get married is a "fix it" thing. In the originally written/DVD version of the pilot, Veronica's very first lines are, "I'm never getting married.."
  5. Sooo halfway through.. My feelings on this season are mostly positive, and I think it's good to talk about them hear since this episode has all the positives and the negatives. The Positives: - Kristen Bell and Enrico Colantoni - Yesss. Separetely they're amazing but together unstoppable. The biggest issue with season three was that it became more a show about Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls, and not a show about Veronica Mars, who's biggest supporter/mentor/trusted ally is her dad. It's so nice to see that firing on all cylinders this season. - Logan - He's a bit boring but at least he isn't petting pillows in sadness. Plus, I like that he's changing but Veronica seems so unwilling too(which explains why she's so against him changing). - The humor - Still there! - The Comebacks(Part One) - Leo! Vinny! Just this episode alone had two of my favs and the beats are so natural with them. - The more adult Neptune - As Veronica ages, so should the show. I do think the cussing thing is stupid considering all the other crap they show. The Bad: - Too Many non-Veronica plots - The Congressman, the Cartel Boys, Patton Oswalt, Anything with Dick...who cares. If this season was going to be mystery-centric, it should've been Veronica centric. Yeah, so far no mention of her mom or her brother, or what happened in the book, so why not just say, "We're going to translate that, kinda" or just think of something to make this mystery more Veronica centric so we could get more Wallace and Weevil(and Mac, maybe Mac could've had her own plot in this, and therefore Tina would've appeared). As of now, I just kinda dont care. -The Comebacks(Part Two) - Max? Umm okay. If anything, all the comebacks this episode, and in prevous episodes show one thing. Veronica Mars needs more female characters who aren't dead(bye Meg, Kendall and Lily), MIA(Mac, Parker and Jackie), or you know, nothing. The fact that all these cameos have been dudes, is kinda sad in a show starring a female character. I'm glad they're bringing in Maddie and Nicole, but nothing has come from them in two episodes, soooo...maybe focus on some female characters because wow, these cameos are a SAUSAGE FEST. Also, I refuse that Veronica would hang with Dick, or wouldn't lay down some boundaries between the two. Dick is a racist, jerk who DRUGGED Veronica, put her on a bed, and left her there for his brother to rape her(which he did) Also some of the continuity of the comebacks are wonky(Logan and Leo, for example). Like in this episode, why did some murder lover like Patton Oswalt's character not say, "Well his son blew people up with a bomb!"). No one is mentioning Beaver...which I guess because if they do, they have to touch on him being a rapist and the writers' love for Dick as a character would have to be "reasoned with" on the show? The Mystery Okay, my theory right now, and it's a worrisome one, is that Nicole is the bomber. She's going after date rapists, everyone else be damned. I pray this isn't it. It would be pretty twisted and give me terrible flashbacks to those awfully written feminists. I mean, this show gets REALLY murky with this. Veronica blaming Madison for her rape more than, say Dick(who did all the above). The feminists and their actions. For Nicole to be the bomber, it's just not something this show has proven it could handle. Nor is it what I want to go(again, Veronica has so few female friends...or female characters in her orbit). But given that date rapist #2 was bombed, that's the direction it's pointing, especially since no one else pointed it in that direction. I guess I'll keep going(over the next week, I marathoned all four tonight) and hope I'm wrong(but like Veronica, I'm never wrong! :p)
  6. I'm so glad I couldn't stand Rob and Amber. Rob was just "reality tv villain" which, at least at the point I'm watching in Amazing Race, seems so anti-Amazing Race, which feels like "REAL" people racing. Also, they were so smug. Rob being a famous survivor gave them so many advantages, and Amber was just...I don't know. She was also so smug too, but did nothing save for make snide remarks and smirk at Rob's evil ways. And it seems EVERY time they go in first, they got a price, while every one else got nothing).
  7. Wow! What a fascinating(and sad) tidbit. THe early seasons were pretty antiquated in terms of representation of gays(even in terms of how other cast members perceived. Their "lite" homophobia was perceived as amusing.
  8. I'm watching season 9 and 10 together(kinda. My bf and I watch one season together, I watch one season solo) and season 10 was actually pretty diverse
  9. As I go on, 'm leaning towards the dislike. Dear God, tone is down. They're the least genuine cast members yet. They're legit trying to just be characters. Not sure how much more of this season I can handle. I haven't enjoyed an episode yet, which is the first time since i started my watch of the many seasons of Amazing Race(I skipped season 6 after character introductions, because more than half of them were actors/model, and one of them had the worst haircut I've ever seen...It was like, front pig tails, for dudes)....But I can't imagine any of them were as awful as the majority of the cast this season(Yolanda/Ray, and Barry/Fran are the only ones I like. OH and the hick dentist just called his wife a bitch and she just accepted it. How nice!)
  10. This is a season I've been struggling with thus far(and just saw who in this thread, which is my fault!) and it makes me wanna stick with it...But is this the most sexist season yet? It's VERY male centric. Usually, when it's couples, yeah a guy might be more abrasive, but outside of Yolanda and Fran, the women are either crying or non-existent. And the men are just so freakin' gross. ARe we supposed to find the Eric and Jeremy amusing? Is it just me, in this 2019 world who find them skeevy creeps who hit on every woman they see, putting certain women(like airline workers) in incredibly uncomfortable situations? They're just such bros...and they both look older than I think they are, so it comes across kinda sad. Then we have hick man, who treats his wife like garbage(which she takes, because, um, that's what she thinks a good wife does) and says of Fran, after she tells him to back off, "SHe's a doctor's wife, she shouldn't behave like that"...First dude, you're a dentist. In the doctor hierarchy, Barry is above you. And while I like the hippies, I kinda feel they're kinda a bit too "try hard" at times, while other times I feel they're sweet and endearing.
  11. I've been rewatching past Amazing Race seasons, and I finished season five only a few days ago. I"m so happy Colin and Christie won this season. I was very happy with season 5 winner, but it's more about how much they've grown. Colin is so calm and zen. He's become a really kind person. A very different Colin. Christie also become more assertive, outspoken and yes calm as well. They're like night and day from season five, so to see them grow and win the race is very sweet and rewarding. People can change for the better, and when they do, it pays off. So bravo Colin and Christie. Maybe I should get into spirituality, haha. I need things to keep me calm! Now onto a new season, which hopefully will be norms and not reality stars!
  12. God, this season is unbearable. I'm just tired of this gross, racism crap going on, with once again males dominating this game. I kinda hope this is the season that gets BB canceled/put on hiatus, for it to come back rebooted, with new Executive Producers and Casting directors because that's the only way to save this trash.
  13. Except we spent 7 episodes that were only about the love triangle. I agree it's not what the show is about and they moved beyond it...then they didn't and didn't backslide but backskid. If someone can tell me we gained anything from this arc?
  14. You know, it's funny how this terrible plotline does retroactively ruin any sort of rewatch for me. It's final season of Lost ruined! You know during one of Jane's dozens of "I realize I love THIS man" moment(this one about Michael), it plays that song "A Thousand Years"(I think that's what it's called). If someone would rewatch, when Michael was still dead, it makes that song really bittersweet. Michael's gone, but Jane will love him, always. Now? I'd just think, "Hmmm, I'd say like four years, then he'd get tortured, lose his memories and five years later, Jane will be like PEACE!" This is why this storyline is befuddles me so much! They had fans come to peace with Michael's death. I was a Michael/Jane shipper, but of the last two seasons; the longest stretch of episodes I liked most were when Jane and Rafael got together(that includes married Jane and Michael storyline). The show was able to respect both fanbases. But this? It barely respects anyone. A cheap ploy for seven episodes, that ends with Jane where she started and Raf five steps back and Michael alive and dumped. And now Ro and Michael scene because "reasons" that again, feel disrespectful towards the fans. I just wish the show would've focused on Jane and Raf, on Jane and Petra, on Jane and Xo(have they had any nice moments together this season?), on Jane and Ro(have they?). To use your final season this way...it blows my mind. And it's all the writing. The cast is phenomenal and can't wait to see where they all go(Gina is a freakin' star, I hope Brett finds a great comedy, and Justin is getting to be a big time director! Yael needs her own show). The direction is sharp. But man, the plots...I haven't enjoyed Jane much in the past two seasons(the Adam storyline, the terrible storyline with Ro's rival soap star and Jane...) but towards the back half of season 4, I was soooo back in. And now, I think I'm just 100% out. I'll see the final episode on netflix or something.
  15. I just don't get how, whoever you're fan of, couldn't see this story as a waste of time. I'd much rather Jane and Raf get married in episode one and like a time jump or something to Jane being famous and dealing with like pre-teen Mateo, Jane's career and a realistic marriage(what happens when that juicy drama is gone?). Why did this story happen? What was gained? All I could think is of what we lost, which was a lot. IMO, this story disrespected fans from both sides, it made Jane come off worse, it regressed Raf, gave us weird Michael, made us want for something(the bromance) and not give it, and reset Jane and Raf back to zero. Worst, it's tarnished rewatches. Heck we haven't touched on Jane's career all season. This is going up their as a terrible final season
