  1. Chris Tapp (who was imprisoned for killing Angie) was exonerated in 2019 but recently died in Octoberish 2023. Las Vegas. Foul play is suspected, but Keith said there are few details as of yet.
  2. I was thinking the same thing.. It was like Keith was saying "we're not done yet." I don't know what it was about the pictures of Angie, but she looked older than 18 to me. Looking at the pics, I would have said she was in her mid-20s or even a bit older than that.
  3. Cassie Jo Stoddart The Secret in Black Rock Canyon True Confessions About Friday night's episode, 48 Hours did this case and focused to someone in LA who was related to the killer. It is shocking that Chris Tapp now appears to have died under suspicious circumstances, and the former detective who forced him into the confession died of Alzheimer's Disease at 60. Angie's mother has outlived everyone.
  4. I heard this, too. Yes, that one juror said that he wasn't sure the battery was part of the bomb. I thought he was overthinking that whole scenario because unless it was shown that someone else had a tie to making a bomb or paying to have one made, Stephen was going to be the culprit. The method was too specific (unlike use of a gun or a knife) to have it be anyone else but Steven once it was established no one else had ties to bomb-making and it wasn't the person in Texas. If he hadn't killed Ildicko using a bomb, then I do think his attorney might have been able to raise reasonable doubt about Elizabeth, the handyman, or Ildicko's husband. That first juror seemed to need to tie Stephen to every piece of the bomb instead of simply tying Stephen to the fact that a bomb was used to kill her.
  5. I have to echo what others have said about the tone of the show. Bash is also irritating me. I know that there are different rules for child actors, but the actress who plays Amira is a young teen. Transplant is Bash's story, I get it, but he's also acting like he's single. Especially since we've now seen how he and Amiria left the camp at the urging of the patient who was a former Regime soldier. I highly doubt Amira said "Hey Bash, let's leave this camp and get on a boat." She was what, seven, eight? He made that decision to get on that boat with her, and while he did not choose for his parents to be killed, he was the one who could make the decisions. Amira didn't have that power. When he told her that he was going back to Lebanon, she got a little upset but didn't push back hard enough. What if something had happened or he had died of cholera? She would be in Canada alone. The reality is that until Amira's of age, he's effectively her parent---the only one she has. To go racing off to Lebanon now makes Bash look indulgent and entitled. Everything's always about him, and to the degree that he flipped out about Amira going to the performing arts school, and then say "I'm going to Lebanon" is just gross. I understand that Amira is not meant to be a major part of the story, but Bash used to handle his responsibilities to her in a more mature way than he did in Season 3.
  6. I had the same vibe, TVbitch, and I thought of you since we both like Josh. He did it during the earlier interview and then brought up the texts in the second interview years later. About both of Stephen's sets of attorneys. They seemed to fail to understand that when the manner of a crime is that specific, that in and of itself is a piece of evidence. The first attorney went on about it could have been Elizabeth or the handyman. If Ildiko had been shot or stabbed, for example, his point would have had more merit. However, she was killed by a bomb. The reality is that most people don't know how to make a bomb, even if they search the internet. Stephen telegraphed his guilt based on the method he chose and how he expertly used that method. To try and suggest other people could have done it and also chosen a bomb is almost ridiculously implausible.
  7. I, too, was shocked when I heard about Darnell's arrest. I first saw him in The Great Thanksgiving Challenge (or something close to that title). Then, I remember him saying somewhere----could have been TOC, but I don't remember---that he had been arrested and jailed earlier in his life. With cooking and becoming a Food Network personality, it seemed like he had made positive change. To read about the violence and menacing that he's accused of was jarring and disconcerting. That he's potentially been able to project this positive personality over the ability to be incredibly violent and aggressive. It saddens me that what he showed the world on FN seems like it was a mask. If that's the case, then he needs intervention and his ex-partners and all his children need to feel safe. I read in a PEOPLE article that the grand jury will meet the week of 2/19. Even if the grand jury doesn't indict him, I think his public life will never be the same again. The allegations are simply too serious.
  8. Also, if Darnell lost in the first round, FN could record Guy saying that Chef X competed against Darnell in Round 1 and Chef X advanced. Here are Chef X's highlights from the battle. Clip the footage to show Chef X's preparation, judging, and scores, and then move on. If Darnell won, then redo the battle with one of the alternates. The alternate will get to compete and the chef who lost would get another opportunity. Pricey, I know, but I think there are ways to address the situation.
  9. I watched the first two qualifying rounds on Discovery+ via Amazon channels. If they're on Amazon, I'm sure they've got to be on the Discovery+ site. Try hunting around for them. One thing Guy mentioned last might was they had alternates in case a chef had to bow out. Even though the show was filmed months ago, could they possibly called one of the alternates as soon as the Darnell story broke and refilmed that part of the competition until that person was eliminated? Not ideal (and there's the question of judging, but there seems to be a group of chefs on stand-by. Maybe FN turned to them in some way.
  10. Yes, she said she was very close to Charlie, and Charlie's ex-girlfriend and the father of the ex-girlfriend's kids is directly involved in doing the shooting? Plus, Donna is signing checks so Charlie's ex-girlfriend has a "job"? If Wendi didn't know before Dan was killed, there's no way I buy that she didn't put the pieces together after the fact. She's chosen to do nothing because she now has her kids. The show made a point of bringing up how smart Wendi is. She's not clueless.
  11. Because Charlie's story was completely bogus! The jury was back in THREE hours. As I was watching his testimony, I was thinking, "Oh come on!"
  12. I was floored by that, too! Especially since they played the part of the recording that says "This call is not private." And she starts talking about countries without extradition agreements. It was obvious what they were planning, Somewhere in that part of the episode, I thought I heard that she was given some sort of immunity. I thought, "Why?" I think it's clear that Donna drove the plot and Charlie was involved in making it happen, but I have a tough time believing that Wendi didn't know anything before or after the crime occurred. I don't think she told them to have Dan killed, but I DO think she knew it was going to happen and did nothing to prevent it OR she knew her family was responsible and didn't go the police. She had gotten exactly what she had wanted---custody of the kids, so she stayed quiet for her own sake. To me, she's an accessory, either before or after the fact. Agreed. I'd like to know what last name the boys now use. If it's Adelson, I hope they will use Markel one day. They're getting older. At some point, especially with meeting Dan's parents, I hope they begin to question whatever the Adelsons have told them, do research on their own, and seek out some of their father's friends.
  13. Charlie Adelson found guilty in Dan Markel murder-for-hire conspiracy. Everything you need to knowA Florida dentist was convicted of having his brother-in-law killed. His mother was charged in the plot days later. Donna Adelson pleads not guilty in Dan Markel murder, asks to be moved off suicide watch
  14. No discussion about the Dan Markel updates? Charlie Adelson has been found guilty and is now in jail for first-degree murder. His mother and father tried to leave for Vietnam and the FBI took them off the plane. His mother is now in jail awaiting trial. And oh goodness, she didn't realize that she was still being recorded! Glad that Dan's parents now legally get to see their grandchildren. I still think Wendi knew somehow before the murder. I hope prosecutors keep digging. If you didn't watch the episode, try to find it somehow. Bunch of new information.
  15. For U.S. viewers: My channel guide lists a new episode of Transplant for Thursday, December 28 at 9 pm EST. This time slot has been its usual time slot for the U.S. viewing of S3. Episode title: And So it Goes
  16. Yes, because Encyclopedia Brown is awesome! I absolutely loved those books as a kid. It was amusing to hear EB referenced on Dateline. A fascinating case, and I love hearing about the Canadian legal system.
  17. I'm in the US, so we just watched "Multiple Choice". Bash needs to let Amira go to the performing arts school. As she said, they teach a full slate of academics, so I don't know what his deal is. I don't like it when those two are at odds. I like the actress who plays Dr. Devi. Never seen her in anything else before. For the poster upthread, I think Theo took the ice bath because he's still processing the helicopter crash and its aftermath. Earlier in the episode, he had talked about it being cold at night before he was found. I still don't like his ex-wife Mel, and I'm not a fan of Bash and Mags as a couple. Also, we're in Year 3 of this show. I know Syria's different from Canada, but enough already with Bash having to start at the bottom as a trauma surgeon. He was a trauma surgeon in Syria, and he's been working in a Canadian hospital for three years. He didn't "forget" how to be a surgeon. Doing this "start at the bottom" thing again after three years is getting old. He's been doing that for the length of the show. Let him advance professionally.
  18. It was interesting that the 48 Hours episode centered on Brian while the Dateline episode centered on Angela and Melanie. The Dateline episode also never brought up his ex-wife or the fact that he's suspected of killing a 13-year-old girl. The detective mentioned he thought there were more victims, but he didn't elaborate. His daughter's an adult by now. I hope she's gotten counseling and/or treatment so that the cycle doesn't repeat itself. Living with him as she was growing up has had to have affected her in some way.
  19. I've never watched a complete episode of Friends, but I enjoyed Matthew Perry in other things (like Studio 60 and The West Wing). Since Keith is married to Matthew's mother, I'm sure he and the rest of the family are devastated.
  20. I'm wondering if the Samantha Woll case will end up on Dateline? The police are saying the circumstances don't point to a hate crime. She was found on her front lawn. That points to a random intruder or her being killed by someone she knew who was also in the house.
  21. I thought it was more likely that if anyone was involved in Manu's killing, it would be Julius and Melanie, not Julius and Peter. I thought that's where this was headed when the show said Julius stopped at Melanie's bedroom door. I still wonder a bit. She told the police about him, and Andrea got the feeling that Julius was holding something back. Could he possibly be protecting Melanie? I'd suspect Melanie's involvement before I'd suspect Peter. Spouses are involved in killing their partners, but I don't see Peter choosing Julius. I don't think Peter's involved.
  22. I haven't read any of the responses about The Clearing yet because I live in the Columbus area, and I wanted to see what Dateline would say about this case. I was actually surprised when I saw the name Emily Noble. I think the jury also got it right. Westerville is a suburb of Columbus that sits in Delaware County. Columbus (the city) and several other suburbs are located in Franklin County. Westerville has a small suburban police force, and I wouldn't say that many Columbus suburban police forces do a ton of homicide investigations. Not when compared to Columbus (the city itself). When Emily disappeared and was later found, the two theories that emerged stayed in play. Either Emily died by suicide or Matt killed her. Both seemed equally plausible, and I remember the police keying in on Matt very quickly. However, I don't remember there being any sort of "bombshell" in the local coverage of the trial. Meaning, local news covered the events and the trial, but there was never anything major that broke. It was like Matt got arrested, and there was a trial, but the evidence never seemed strong in either direction. It's entirely possible that Matt could have killed her, but it also felt like it was equally entirely possible that she died by suicide. Neither was proven, so the verdict doesn't surprise me at all.
  23. I kept wondering if their history involved "non-professional" activities. There was something about the way she defended him. I was getting "relationship" vibes from her. That either they were in one at some point in time, or they weren't but she would have liked to have been in one with him.
  24. I thought the episode covered that. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. Article: A love triangle and a deadly dog walk: Convicted killer says he got played by girlfriend — and now he wants Texas Gov. Abbott's help
  25. I will say I think Antonia did a better job last year, and I liked her as a host on the Julia Child Challenge.
