Okay, the cast killed all the tearful goodbyes ... but they all felt unnecessary, unhurried and ultimately not going to come to much (given that with Spock is on board, Discovery isn't going to get lost in time) given the stakes and timing around them. So, I found this episode a little frustrating as it seemed to be mostly setup for the climatic battle next week. That said, oh my, Enterprise is looking FINE.

I mean, it's Star Wars, I'm going to go see it, despite my reservations about JJ retconning TLJ.

S04.E05: Escape from the Happy Place

"Proof of concept" ... damn, those words shall haunt me. I loved Quentin and Eliot's life in Fillory, but expected it to be just a passing montage. I didn't expect them to go back to that moment. And that Quentin was willing ... I loved that scene. -
Oh My God. I am not ready.

I really liked this one. Liked the ties to TOS, liked new Spock. Even liked Georgiou continuing to run rings around Leland.

I'm used to Pixar's all out assault on my tear ducts, was not expecting it here. Even Kingpin, who I wanted destroyed, had moments of sympathy. Blond Peter's death, Prowler's passing ... this was amazing. I was bopping to the music, loving the visual feast, that inverted shot of Miles falling up was beautiful. Such a good movie.

Hoo boy, that was just bad. I ended up hating everyone but Agatha, Thale and Mel ... and even then was less than impressed with their intelligence.

S04.E01: A Flock of Lost Birds

I just really felt for Quentin/Bryan not knowing what was going on while Beast Elliot is rambling and homicidal. Also, I really look forward to a rampage of revenge against the Library. -
So, had a strange thought, but it seems to me that we see less of Discovery's crew during their down-time. Obviously, we've had things like the party in Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad, Burnham and Tilly's morning run ... But when I compare Discovery to TNG, where we had Ten-Forward, Data's poetry. Various episodes of crew members on vacation. Heck, all the holodeck episodes across TNG, DS9 and VOY. I guess that leads to the question: Is Discovery the hardest working ship in all the Trek series?

My recording cut out early, so these are incomplete thoughts. But I like Pike. This episode felt very Star Trek 2009, in a good way. Zippy, some good action sequences. But we're on a mission of discovery, and I liked giving the bridge crew more time to shine.

Huh, just had a thought ... no Tony. Is there a reason it's Fury instead?

That was charming as heck.

When they announced Rainn Wilson as Mudd, I was not a fan. But between his two appearances and the latest short, I take it all back. Also, I like the new Tellarite design. The Short Treks have been a real success for me. All of them have been really enjoyable.

S00.E156: Resolution (New Year's Day 2019)

Another solid episode. Liked the comic moments, like the help desk and discovering UNIT was defeated by budgetary concerns. The short bit with the horrified family was also pretty good. I really like Daleks in small numbers. Also, it was interesting seeing a Dalek being just as deadly out of its shell. -
Not gonna lie, post haircut Wes ... *fans self*. The DIY episode is not doing it for me. No Wes, no Jacques being adorable, time restrictions seem even more arbitrary, just not my thing.

"How is this dry and wet and the same time?" Lol, I was dying. I'd missed Ron Funches.

Just saw "the Brightest Star", the Saru-focused one. Interesting. And wasn't expecting Michelle Yeoh cameo. I liked it a lot.

I found this week cute. The use of Siri and other correspondents as Trevor's voice was funny. -
Dragon Age: Inquisition (and the Dragon Age Universe)

That was a whole lot of nothing. I mean, I'm pleased that DA4 is underway, and if it's that far from release date, I wouldn't expect much to be revealed. But still, if they were expecting hype from me for that ... no. -
I think this episode needed a little more time to cook. Or needed to be longer? I liked the elements of the episode, and the concepts of the episode. I liked grief being the honey in the "trap", the idea of a sentient universe that's desperately lonely, the anti-zone. I even liked the talking frog. It's weird, I feel like I'm missing RTD. I need some more melodrama, or the Ninth Doctor staring sadly into the middle distance. That said, there are some subtle moments that I really liked. Eric's reaction to the Doctor's note, realising how far he's gone, Graham's response to "Grace", Ryan finally saying Granddad ... there was a lot to like in the episode.

Dragon Age: Inquisition (and the Dragon Age Universe)

DA2 is definitely my favourite DA. Mainly because I find Hawke to be one of the best Bioware protagonists (Yes, I like playing Hawke more than Shepard). Sarcastic Hawke and Varric on a snark--fest all across Kirkwall is just the best thing. Also, I like how events are coming to a head around Hawke, but while they have some power and money they're not "THE CHOSEN ONE" like the other Bioware protagonists.
