  1. Okay, the cast killed all the tearful goodbyes ... but they all felt unnecessary, unhurried and ultimately not going to come to much (given that with Spock is on board, Discovery isn't going to get lost in time) given the stakes and timing around them. So, I found this episode a little frustrating as it seemed to be mostly setup for the climatic battle next week. That said, oh my, Enterprise is looking FINE.
  2. I mean, it's Star Wars, I'm going to go see it, despite my reservations about JJ retconning TLJ.
  3. "Proof of concept" ... damn, those words shall haunt me. I loved Quentin and Eliot's life in Fillory, but expected it to be just a passing montage. I didn't expect them to go back to that moment. And that Quentin was willing ... I loved that scene.
  4. Aside from ranking Archer too highly, as I have nothing but disdain for the character, I'd have to agree with this list. And it's not like they're wrong in their points about Archer as a boss.
  5. I really liked this one. Liked the ties to TOS, liked new Spock. Even liked Georgiou continuing to run rings around Leland.
  6. Hard disagree on Billy Porter's magnificient dress. Sure, the King of Siam will be confused, but I love it.
  7. I'm used to Pixar's all out assault on my tear ducts, was not expecting it here. Even Kingpin, who I wanted destroyed, had moments of sympathy. Blond Peter's death, Prowler's passing ... this was amazing. I was bopping to the music, loving the visual feast, that inverted shot of Miles falling up was beautiful. Such a good movie.
  8. Hoo boy, that was just bad. I ended up hating everyone but Agatha, Thale and Mel ... and even then was less than impressed with their intelligence.
  9. Discovery takes place after "The Cage", and while it's been awhile since I've watched it, I thought Pike came out of that adventure revitalized.
  10. I just really felt for Quentin/Bryan not knowing what was going on while Beast Elliot is rambling and homicidal. Also, I really look forward to a rampage of revenge against the Library.
  11. So, had a strange thought, but it seems to me that we see less of Discovery's crew during their down-time. Obviously, we've had things like the party in Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad, Burnham and Tilly's morning run ... But when I compare Discovery to TNG, where we had Ten-Forward, Data's poetry. Various episodes of crew members on vacation. Heck, all the holodeck episodes across TNG, DS9 and VOY. I guess that leads to the question: Is Discovery the hardest working ship in all the Trek series?
  12. My recording cut out early, so these are incomplete thoughts. But I like Pike. This episode felt very Star Trek 2009, in a good way. Zippy, some good action sequences. But we're on a mission of discovery, and I liked giving the bridge crew more time to shine.
  13. Huh, just had a thought ... no Tony. Is there a reason it's Fury instead?
