  1. While quality is subjective, the post above seems to imply that automatically playing multiple characters means more quality than playing one character. It's not snarky when it is the literal truth that, yes, most actors play one character when they're on a show. I'm rooting for THT to dominate again.
  2. I partially agree with you, but I am reminded of endless back and forth discussions about GoT's Sansa Stark where the sides are "she's learned so much from her years as a hostage from the people around her" and "she's totally useless."
  3. I don't think any drama has had 3 different main cast members win a lead or supporting actress award.
  4. She was also missing from most episodes which is what makes her eligible for Guest, the way that Bledel was last season and isn't this season.
  5. Well we'll go back to the Colonies and Jezebels apparently. That's something. Something good or something bad is unclear.
  6. Yeah I'm joining the chorus of those who are hoping that the June flashbacks are minimal next season. We have a really good idea of her life before Gilead by now. While we know almost nothing about others'.
  7. Maybe with THT specifically, but having read 10 of her books, I don't know if I would consider her writing consistently immaculate and un-sloppy. I'm hoping next season they give us flashbacks for the last 3 cast members without them, especially Lydia.
  8. That preview lends a lot of credence to the spoilers from a few pages ago.
  9. Another episode that's powerful on its own merits, but thinking logically in terms of what else has happened this season makes it less so. I'm starting to think it's better to think of this season as almost a short story collection, given the lack of consistency and continuity from episode to episode. June/Serena's story was the least interesting of the three this week. And how quickly everything gets walked back from the last episode or two. "Nick is shot and shoved into a van!...Nah, he's fine." "June almost escaped again; there will be consequences!...Nah, she's fine." "Serena wants June out of the house asap after giving birth!...Welcome back, June." "Serena does not want June to touch or even come close to the baby!...Here, June, please breastfeed Nicole." I'm excited to see what the future has in store for Emily's storyline. It was pretty much on pause for a month.
  10. What has badass June accomplished after 2 seasons though?
  11. I'm already enraged seeing Serena so happy with her stolen child.
  12. One could argue that. The dialogue was "Do they ever hit you?" "Only when I'm bad." "Only twice." How much discipline was involved is unknown, and different people have different ideas of child rearing. I certainly don't think it was, say, Fred-on-Serena levels.
  13. Well if it's accurate...it's better than Serena fleeing with the baby. And many have theorized that it would be either June or Emily who would be escaping this season.
  14. I don't agree with this. There are people who you can see the effort and it's amazing; multiple Meryl Streep performances, for example. While there are other lesser actors who are effortless and...you can tell that there's no effort because they don't seem to have any emotion. Emilia Clarke often, for example. Also I found Moss great and the best part of the great show Mad Men from season one, when the show got 3 acting nominations and she was not among them. Based on the media coverage if we were so beholden to the media to not have minds, I should be thinking Jon Hamm is the brightest star of the show.
  15. If it helps, this is the major Emmy drama contender with by far the most female directorial vision: 6 female-directed eps this season by next week. 8 last season. (64% so far) Game of Thrones 0 & 0. (0%) Stranger Things 1 & 0. (6%) The Crown 2 & 0. (10%) Westworld 3 & 1. (20%) Americans 1 & 4. (22%) This is Us 5 & 4 (25%) Killing Eve had 0.
