  1. It's actually fairly fast reading, though (at least I've found it so, and I've read it a few times-in different translations).
  2. Now the BBC needs to do a new miniseries of Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo." (The most recent movie version was really awful.)
  3. Not an unusual problem. Usually by the time they do a movie the show has become long in the tooth. Even the Simpson's movie was pretty bad.
  4. It sucked. "OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies" came out about the same time and was really good.
  5. I've also heard "down the cellar" for going down into the basement.
  6. It's a cute ad with a cute kid (cute kids don't bother me as much as they obviously do a lot of people on these boards. They're kids for God's sake!), but it could have had a better pay off. The tiger could growl at the kid and the kid get scared or the tiger growls and the kids growls back or something (and no, not the glass breaks and the tiger eats the kid).
  7. A lot of Mexican stores and take out places stock "Mexican coke" with real sugar, but I've only seen it in the small (but glass!) bottles.
  8. They have Mary Tyler Moore on around noon (depending where you live).
  9. The Madonna and the whore syndrome exists even in today's popular culture.
  10. Earlier one of the sources for teeth were the so-called "Waterloo teeth" removed from the corpses of dead soldiers. https://bda.org/museum/collections/teeth-and-dentures/waterloo-teeth
  11. She's supposed to be naïve and innocent of the ways of the world. At the time she would be considered a model of motherly devotion, giving everything of herself for her child. Today we see her differently.
  12. That would make a better ad. Toyota drivers are risk-taking hipsters, rather than ineffectual sexual perverts. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
  13. I assumed it was a B&D thing. Which is equally odd to be applying to your customer base.
  14. I was disappointed that Javert still came across as arrogant even when he went to Valjean to resign his office. This is where we should see the deep mental issues behind Javert's unbending attitude. So far Javert isn't portrayed as having much depth-he's too one dimensional. I agree with Diablo's assessment that the writing for Javert (so far) is poor.
  15. So true. Normally you buy a decongestant, it tells you don't use with alcohol. Nyquil adds alcohol.
  16. I also found Bobby Buntrock as Harold very much a Hollywood kid actor, not like a real kid at all. (Though he would have been great on "The Flintstones.")
  17. No. I always thought Mr. B married way above himself. It's interesting that Whitney Blake was the creator of "One Day at a Time."
  18. It took my friend the ex-wrestler 30 minutes to get out of bed in the morning due to his pain. He took the Nyquil and found he could do much better. He even called the company to ask them about it, but they told him the company doesn't claim it helps arthritis. :)
  19. There's some douches I'd like to spray with Lysol.
  20. This is true, and I could always feel my sinuses clearing up after taking it, making it easier to sleep (though I think they may have changed the formula fairly recently, so it might not work the same or as well). At one time I read a description of Nyquil as "a witch's brew of every OTC medicine" (plus the alcohol).
  21. Taken orally. My theory, and I'm not a doctor but I play one on the internet, is that because it's a liquid, it works faster and you get more painkiller all at once (plus the alcohol). Then again it could be the placebo effect.
  22. I think Nyquil will cure most common ailments. But it has to be the green Nyquil. (An acquaintance who was a pro wrestler and has horrible arthritis discovered it eased his pain much better than other things he used, proving my theory.)
  23. Almost right out of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and Windex.
