  1. Speaking of that episode, last time I watched that episode on Pluto, my dad and husband were in the room. The were both completely taken aback by the comments about Holly and Kashara about being heavy. I think those of us who watch year after year have gotten so used to the weight comments, that we forget how outrageous some of it sounds to regular people.
  2. I apologize if this has already been discussed, but did they do any sort of plaza performance? I’m guessing not, but just wondering.
  3. I prefer Jenna’s style over Jenn’s and would’ve preferred her at point, but I thought Jenn did a good job at point. However, I never understood why she rose SO quickly. Leadership....fine. I can buy that she was good leader. She seems to be levelheaded and responsible, and she was in her late 20s, so I get that she naturally was seen as a leader. Dance however....Jenn was good, but not so good that I thought she should’ve been towards the front so quickly.
  4. Ok, I think we may both be thinking of the same conversations. From what I remember it was Shelly’s comments that made me think that the DCCs may well have a real problem because the payment scheme she described sounded strange. Granted, regardless of what actually happened or how much the DCCs “should” be paid, I don’t they purposely underpaid Erica (legally). There may be some laws that certain companies don’t take too seriously, but the FLSA is not one of those. I assume if there was an issue, it was an inadvertent one with the timekeeping system or policies. That’s what often happens. Still no squad photo?
  5. Yeah, I always thought she looked kind of like Kendall Jenner.
  6. Yeah, and they also took Cassie and Danielle when they physically were not up to par at auditions. I think those situations are directly applicable to Brennan, who should have been given a break. However, I don’t think the Taylor situation is the same thing. Being physically able to do the routines has always been and always will be a requirement. Taking 2 weeks out of life to go into a bubble in August (right at the start of the school year) is a one-time, out of the ordinary thing for the DCCs. I don’t see anything to suggest that Taylor’s schedule will be a factor moving forward. On Erica, I don’t remember it being said that she screwed up reporting her hours, though it may have been. It seemed to me that the DCC’s had an unusual system (some flat rate events; others hourly pay) that seemed ripe for an inadvertent underpayment issue, but I don’t know the exact facts of the case. However, regardless of whether Erica was bitter, happy, sad, mad, or indifferent about her employment, the DCCs’ obligation to pay her what she was owed is determined by law, not her feelings. I’m not saying you said otherwise (you didn’t), but that premise seems to get thrown around here a lot.
  7. I actually hope Marissa is as obnoxious as she allegedly has been reported to be. I don’t remember a cheerleader (other than VK for obvious reasons) getting this much criticism before having even a second of airtime. Personally, I’ll hold off on my judgement of her personality, but in terms of looks, I think she looks ok with makeup on and her hair done. I definitely think she looks better than the Trevino sisters, who were featured all over the place. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder though.
  8. Agree with all of these sentiments. I find it a bit sad to watch videos from just a few years ago. The DCCs have not recovered from that 2 year span when they lost Melissa, Amy T, Megan C, Jenn K, Jenna, Danielle, Holly, Erica, Maggie, Mandy, Cersten, etc. Other than Kash, Lacey, and Gina, those departures encompassed ALL of the best performers on the team, and or fan favorites like Danielle and Jinelle. The rookie group of Alexis/Lexie came nowhere close to replacing what was lost, and while the rookie class of Bridget/ Hannah/Ashlee was great, the DCCs have been more interested in featuring VK, Maddie, Amy, and Tess than the ones who actually have star potential. Im hoping, but probably in vain, that this year’s rookies will bring some power and sass, and that the 3 year girls will finally get their due. It’s unfortunate that Hannah and Bridget are gone because both were special performers, IMO.
  9. Aww.. thanks! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video of them performing this dance.
  10. A few years ago, they used to post most of the quarter changes and plaza performances on Twitter and Instagram, so that’s probably the nest place to find them assuming the posts are still up. However, I don’t remember them posting as many performances last year. I like that Hand Clap routine, and that was a great group with Holly, Lacey, and Danielle. Speaking of that routine, is that routine (Hand Clap) and the one posted below the only 2 that Michelle Keys choreographed?
  11. Very sloppy. I also think that dance needs to be retired. I’ve always disliked it.
  12. Yeah, I don’t remember seniority mattering as much in the past. I also don’t know that they put Maddie/Amy upfront to avoid conflict on the team (it’s just a theory), but I don’t think the Kashara situation is all that comparable. After Erica’s departure, there were only 3 girls on the team who were senior to Kashara, and one was Jenna - we all know what happened there. So, there just weren’t that many senior vets on the team like there were last year. I don’t think it’s a question that Jenna or a healthy Erica would’ve been point if they knew how to follow rules. But putting Bridget at point for example, while the right thing to do, would’ve been jumping a lot of girls who had seniority over her. I don’t remember the makeup of the team when Crystal was there.
  13. 100% agree. Not only do I think that the LA cast is good as it is, but I think Million Dollar Listing NY (if it continues) needs Fredrick. I hope they aren’t planning to switch him to the LA show permanently.
  14. Agreed. I don’t know much about Lisa’s personality or behavior, so I won’t comment on that, but I don’t have a problem with her dancing or body type. I agree that Kelli has double standards regarding body types, but I liked Vivian (her first TC) and Megan and would’ve been happy to see both make it. Thus, given that I think it’s a good thing for there to be more diverse body types on the team, I’m not going to complain when someone with a different body type makes it. It’s not like she’s not in shape. I have a much bigger issue with Kelli’s double standards regarding weight gain than body type. However, Lisa’s fashion choices are horrible, and the “tough girl” poses or whatever she’s going for needs to go...ASAP!
  15. Yep, and that’s why I think they rounded out the triangle with Lexie/ Tess. They knew that they wouldn’t outshine Maddie/Amy, but that’s another reason why it shouldn’t have been Maddie/Amy in the first place. Literally, any combo of Gina/Alanna/Ashlee/Rachel W/Amber/Caroline/Jalyn would be an upgrade this year. I’m all for Gina at point, but I’ll take any improvement over last year’s formation at this point.
  16. Point will always be somewhat controversial. I get that. Kashara’s second year at point is pretty much the only year in recent times where I thought there was a clear cut person for point (and I know that some people wanted Lacey). But even if someone disliked the point, the other girls in the triangle were usually great performers too. What annoyed me about last year is that they went with Maddie and Amy for what seemed to be no reason other than seniority, and then, the other girls in the triangle weren’t great either. It was just bizarre. Think of previous years where girls could’ve shared point - we could’ve had Kashara/Lacey, Jennifer/Jenna, Holly/Emma, Mia/Jackie, Whitney/Ashton, etc... Literally, every one of those pairings would’ve been 10x better than Amy/Maddie, but that’s what we got! I still don’t get the logic. Were they just mad at Gina or scared that they would piss of the senior vets by throwing some of the great 2 years (from last year) up there? It made no sense, and I hope they don’t repeat the same error this year.
  17. I don’t remember what it said, but there is definitely something in the contract about alcohol. Regardless, the odds that there is nothing in the contract that prohibits drunkenness in public is zero. Even if it’s just a simple clause about good behavior or morals, I’m sure there is *something* in there that they could latch on to if they want to. “If they want to” is the key phrase though. If there is anything consistent about the rules, it’s that they are enforced inconsistently and selectively.
  18. YES! Thank you. There’s a reason why Cassie’s post was quickly disregarded by many people. We know who she is, and we know that she’s biased. So, why take the word of an anonymous person as gospel when that person’s affiliations and biases are unknown? Frankly, it’s always appeared that some insider info comes from people who have a personal axe to grind with some of the DCCs. That’s life though. In general, all information, except from people whom you 100% trust, should be taken with a grain of salt.
  19. I don’t know much about the LA market to know how much the location Altman’s castle house vs David and James’ house would affect value, but David and James’ house seemed WAY nicer than that castle house. $7 million more? Maybe not, but if I had money, I would definitely buy the Hidden Valley house. It was stunning. Altman’s castle house was hideous.
  20. Agreed. I get the girls being upset in the sense that if one day is sufficient for Taylor, then it should have been sufficient for everyone. I also firmly believe that they should’ve only taken vets and done away with training camp completely. However, if any of the girls truly believe that Taylor should’ve either had to quit her real job as a teacher (which is 1000x more important than DCC) or been cut, then they need to stop being petty, grow up, and get some perspective on life. DCC is a so-called part-time job. Friends with Sam or not, it would’ve been ludicrous to not provide an option for girls who have real jobs and can’t go into a “bubble.”
  21. Same. I don’t think every instance of someone getting together with a friend is a high risk activity, especially if masks are worn and the friends are outdoors. So, I do think some people go overboard with the scorn. However, I can’t get with the “do you” attitude when it comes to covid-19. We’re at 6 million cases and 180k deaths and counting. 1000+ people are dying a day. There are some types of reckless behaviors that only affect the person being reckless. In those instances, I’m all about people minding their own business. Covid-19 is not that.
  22. Even if each cut could, on its own, be justified, it’s obvious that there was a breakdown somewhere in the process for the cheerleaders to be so vocal about the cuts. So, no, Cassie, it’s clearly not business as usual! Brennan has a real, professional job. She’s not an inexperienced 18 year old who has never faced a setback. I seriously doubt that she made her post lightly or out of spite. Add in Hannah’s post (which was quite detailed), Bridget’s tweet, and the outpouring of support from current and former DCCs, and it’s obvious that there was something specific about these cuts that left a bad taste in people’s mouths. Taking the “nothing to see here” line, and pretending like Brennan and Hannah are just bitter is frankly, stupid and a great way to further alienate the team (I’m assuming that Cassie’s views represent those of K&J and Charlotte).
  23. I’m confused as well. Personally, I don’t need to know the other girls’ names. The sex lives of consenting adults isn’t my business, but it was portrayed as if it was a huge deal that Kat was not being cut for fraternizing. However, it seems like it’s a more widespread issue (which is actually not surprising), and Kat isn’t the only one getting a break on this.
  24. Did Vivian have low kicks? I thought the issue was more related to her ability to nail down the choreo.
  25. Yep. I think Vivian should have made the team her first time in training camp. She was far better than Morgan and Kaitlin, IMO, and she’s so pretty. She definitely would’ve provided a different, non cookie-cutter look for the team. IIRC, Vivian was a real fan favorite, and I actually think K&J may have regretted cutting her that first time. Her second time around though.....she looked fantastic, but she had clearly let the weight loss and fan attention go to her head, and she came off terribly. The kind of goofy, cute personality that she showed in the first tc was gone, and she seemed so fake and shallow. She is one example of someone who have been much better off if there was no tv show, IMO. I think the weight loss was always going to throw her for a loop. I got the sense that it may have been the first time in her life that she truly believed that she was beautiful, and that can be intoxicating in a way. Add in her “fans” and attention from the show, and it was just all too much, IMO.
